CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR:

34: ~Marina's Pov~

Hormones.

The topic basically reminds me of the stereotype teenagers, I really hope I never get to that point. All of the topics in biology, slim and pretty miss Heidi preferred this one topic for her brightest student and her newbie partner.

"I think we've covered enough for today, don't you think?"

My spirit came back into my body and I stared at Daneley, "Mhm, sure!"

I started to pack my books and stuff them in my school bag but I paused when I noticed Daneley was staring at me intensively.

"Do I have my shirt on backwards?" I asked feeling a confused smile play on my lips.

"You're sorta glowing." She said, laying emphasis on the last word.

I stared at her weirdly and shook my head, "Too much biology?"

She laughed and we both went back to packing our stuff.

"Actually, there's something I've been wanting to talk to you about..." Daneley muttered suddenly.

"I'm listening." I paused packing my books for the second time and paid her attention.

"It's about Jason... I mean if you-"

I interrupted her, "Honestly Daneley, you guys have fun, I'm happy for you two, Jason deserves a nice girl and he's found you, he'd be stupid not to be serious with you, so chill out."

"Thank you, Marina. But what about you guys? I may be wrong but whenever we're all together at lunch, I can feel the tension."

I sighed and pressed my fingers on the reading table, "Listen, I'd be honest with you, Daneley, because you've proven yourself a good girl, yes, Jason and I may be in a rough patch right now but I assure you, it has nothing to do with you."

"TBH, I'm relived to hear that, thank you for not being judgemental Marina because I really really like Jason."

I laughed. I've heard that line so many times. Jason was good at making girls love him. It wasn't news. I mean he even succeeded with me.

"Enjoy what you guys have while it lasts, girl." I gave her a warming smile.

"Well, I better get going, I have practice." She smiled back and shrugged her backpack on.

"Theatre right? Say hi to Kiara for me."

"And suffer the risk of rumors saying I am trying to be her understudy? Sure!" She beamed with a little sarcasm that made me laugh too.

I totally understood that. Silver Lake students were ruthless with the rumors. But speaking of which, I wonder how she and Jake are working it out with the whole lead role thing. This winter was a big moment for us all; The regionals, the play of the season, homecoming/SLake winter formal. Junior year is loaded I might need a pill or two to boost my social battery because I'm barely halfway through and I'm already feeling weary. Boy drama helps no one.

"I never had an issue go to the club with your boys baby, I never wanted you to stay, just wanted you to show me off, so won't you say my name... Say my nameeee... Boy you can go and stop playing games..."

My pen hovered over my Wuthering Heights journal as I sat at my reading desk, yeah I still don't know who to write about for this project, luckily the deadline for submission is still a month away. A gentle knock came on my door and before I could answer, Jakob strolled in like he owned the place, he looked drained and stressed.

"You don't look so good." I mentioned and felt something furry on my feet.

I reached down and picked Topaz up as I turned around just in time to watch Jakob collapse on my perfectly arranged bed.

"GROSS!" I exclaimed, "Now my bed is gonna smell like you."

"Oh please, I'm just- whatever, your company might make me feel better," He sighed.

I was about to say Mood swings, when pop smoke's voice help me instead. My Bluetooth speaker was playing my OtG playlist in the background, at a solemn volume.

Jakob and I laughed together.

"I think I'm gonna have to look into your playlist now, even though I hate to admit it, you actually have some taste in music, MJ."

"Aww, is Marcello getting sappy?" I taunted him.

"Maybe, it's just- life is a lot and some times we need a boost you know..." He said mysteriously.

I payed attention now. Jakob never talks like this.

"What's really going on, Jake?"

He sat up now and starting vibrating with laughter. He stood up, pushed my curtains aside and looked through my window first then he walked up to me and patted my head.

"Nothing, Marie, I just wanted to be sure you cared about me." He shot me a beautiful smile.

I gaped at him and hit his arm playfully, "You're so evil."

"And your crush is outside." He said, his smile still not wavering.

As if on cue, a pebble hit my window.

"Does this mean you're warming up to him?"

"You didn't leave me a choice... Speaking of choices have you made yours yet? If you don't choose one of them, you'll loose the both, follow your heart but don't neglect your guts!" Jakob advised and tapped his temple.

"I already chose Darnell, Jace isn't totally cool about it p, but we'd work it out in time."

Time? Did we really have time? Jace would be walking out of my life in a few months and off to some fancy college not less than three hundred miles away.

Jakob gave me a long stare then he nodded.

"Happy for you, baby sis." He said and exited my room.

That was both strange and heartwarming.

I let Topaz hop off while I went to my window, lifted the blind and raised the lid so I could poke my sandy blonde head out.

"You couldn't stay away for just one day?" I girly-smirked down at him.

He chuckled, "Nope, I'm addicted to a certain cheeky girl."

Even if we still haven't DTR (Defined The Relationship), the butterflies in my stomach danced to what he said and I couldn't help but blush as the memory of our kiss flooded into my mind.

"You're turning red." He said with a smirk like he knew exactly what I was thinking. "Come on down there, let's play some basketball."

"Okay sure." I was smiling so much that my cheeks started to cramp.
