Eleven
Eddie paced the length of the porch.
It felt wrong showing up uninvited to someone's house, but Eddie needed to get a few things straight with his partner.
He felt a wave of nausea hit him. Eddie grabbed his stomach tightly and readied himself at the door. He took a deep breath and knocked, running over his lines in his head. He would be firm, but not too firm, keep a level head, but if push came to shove..
The door flew open surprising Eddie who jumped at the sight his jaw going slack. Mrs. Tozier stood with a smile on her face. She squealed throwing her arms around Eddie squeezing him until he didn't have any air left in his lungs. "Eddie! Oh my goodness! You've gotten so big! Oh! Oh! I've missed you!" She giggled excitedly pulling him away at an arms length to get an eyeful of him.
Eddie smiled bashfully, she hadn't changed at all. Maggie was always a sweetheart, and a great mother. Extremely supportive and helpful. She sighed heavily and shook her head laughing loudly.
Oh and loud, all Tozier's were loud.
"What am I doing? Come inside!" Maggie snorted pulling Eddie indoors.
Eddie toed off his shoes leaving them by the door. "It's good to see you too Maggie. Is Richie around? I need to talk to him." He said looking around the house, it hadn't changed since the last time he'd been over either. It was like walking through his memory.
Maggie lead Eddie through the hall and peeked her head around the corner. "He's in his room. Came home all.. Boyish, you know? Angry, hormonal." She shook her head of curls.
Maggie had always wanted a girl, she had a hard time understanding Richie but she loved him unconditionally.
Eddie thanked her with a smile and headed down the deserted hall. He stopped outside of Richies bedroom raising his fist to knock. He thought of what he wanted to say but found himself blanking.
Eddie knocked lightly on the bedroom door. Waiting patiently for a response that never came, he twisted the doorknob.
Upon entering the room he stopped seeing Richie sprawled across his bed, headphones slot on his head.
Eddie swallowed and mustered up the strength to surge forward. He closed the door slowly behind him and walked toward the bed. "Richie.." He tried his voice coming out hoarsely. Eddie could hear the music clear as day, that's how loud Richie was blaring it. He huffed and grabbed the boys ankle, giving it a shake.
Richie shot up instantly, gasping. His eyes flew open landing on Eddie wide with surprise then glaring. Richie tore the headphones off his head and tossed them beside him. "How did you get in here?" He demanded, immediately coming off as defensive.
Eddie folded his arms over his chest and rolled his eyes. "Your mom let me in. Listen Richie, I don't know what's bothering you but we need to work together." He sympathized deciding it was best not to fight fire with fire. Richie was already pissed off, and Eddie was exhausted.
Richie adverted his gaze opting to stare at his comforter. He picked at the material then sighed heavily. "I'm sorry." Richie whispered softly surprising Eddie. Richie gnawed on his bottom lip then faced Eddie his gaze holding steady. "I can't.. Focus. All I can think about is you." He admitted and Eddie felt his pulse rise at the statement.
Eddie didn't want to admit the way his heart leaped in his chest. He pushed it away as a sign of nervousness, just how he coined the butterflies in his stomach as nausea. God, he felt sick. Eddie wet his lips and knit his brows, "Richie.." He began exasperatedly but Richie quickly cut him off, standing to meet him in the middle.
"I know. That was a long time ago. I had my chance and I blew it." Richie tore his eyes away from Eddie glaring painfully at his folded hands. He ran a hand through his unruly hair glancing up at Eddie. "But I've changed," Richie stressed his case.
Eddie scoffed squeezing his eyes closed and shaking his head. "You can't guilt trip me into dating you." He laughed dryly backing away slowly.
Richies jaw went slack, hanging open mouthed.
"I'm not trying to guilt trip you Eddie! This is me being one hundred percent with you, this is how I've been feeling." He slapped his hand to his chest, crumpling the material of his Ramones shirt in his fist. His pale blue eyes searched Eddies face frantically.
"The moment I laid eyes on you, up there on that stage, giving it your all. I fell for you all over again." He whispered a small smile making its way on his face.
Eddie watched frozen as Richie got closer. He held his breath as those fingers ghosted over his cheek, tickling his skin and leaving goosebumps. Eddie gasped throwing his hands up realizing the situation he got himself in. "Richie.." He simpered.
Richie grasped both of his hands, bringing them to his own chest letting Eddie feel his racing heartbeat. He stared deep into Eddies eyes seeing past them and into his soul.
"Do you still think this is a joke?" Richies voice came out gravely making a shiver run through Eddies body.
He could feel the warmth from Richies own body against his, building as they got closer.
Eddies throat tightened he could feel himself choking up, his brain going haywire.
Richies lips parted, the cut from yesterday healing nicely. He leaned forward invading Eddies space but, he didn't seem to mind it. He invited Richies presence, his warm breath fanning against his face.
"Eddie.." Richie grunted asking for permission, his lips ghosted over Eddies own open ones.
Eddie didn't expect his night to go this way.
He envisioned arguing, maybe some screaming but nothing like this. His heart was way up in his throat beating madly against his Adam's apple. Eddie swallowed, his mind was hazy he couldn't think straight around Richie. He never could.
Eddie surged forward capturing Richies chapped lips in a heated kiss.
Richies hands instantly found themselves home on Eddies hips, tugging him in closer.
Eddie melted into his touch no matter how his brain screamed for him to pull away, to not fall for it, Eddie craved the affection.
Richie sat on the edge of his bed, dragging Eddie down with him. Eddie climbed into his lap slinging his arms around Richies neck, their lips moving together in a deep embrace. Eddie choked out a moan as Richies freezing hands searched up under his sweater setting his skin on fire under their touch. He felt Richie smirk into the kiss and Eddie hated him even more.
Eddie bit down on Richies lip in the heat of the moment and Richie quickly pulled away cursing.
Eddie sat back flustered and confused, "What? What happened?" He asked slightly out of breath.
Richie wiped his bloodied lip glancing between Eddie and his bloody fingertips. "You got a set of teeth on you Ed's.." Richie muttered blotting his lip with his t-shirt.
Eddies hands flew to his own mouth shocked he'd done that. And that. The realization finally hit Eddie, he had just been making out with his ex. "God, I'm sorry. I-I should really be heading home." The words rushed out quickly as Eddie climbed off of Richies lap like he'd burnt him.
He folded his arms over his chest again then quickly fixed his mussed up hair. Eddie could feel his heart racing a mile a minute, fear and.. He cringed wiping a hand down his face. "I'll see you at rehearsal?" Eddie whined speeding toward Richies closed bedroom door. His hand locked around the doorknob when Richies enclosed around it.
Eddie spun around his words getting stuck in his throat. Richie hovered over him, his eyes were dark and the blood on his lip was clotting together. The sight shouldn't have made Eddies stomach flip the way it did. Richie hesitantly cupped Eddies jaw in his hand. "Are we cool?" Richie asked cocking an eyebrow at Eddie who laughed shyly in return.
Richie leaned down capturing his lips in a quick peck. "Drive safely." He said as a farewell, clearing his throat and backing away.
Eddie stood dumbfounded staring at Richie with a blank stare. He caught himself and laughed nervously, Eddie threw the door open and ran out into the hall bumping into Mrs Tozier on his way.
She whirled around, laundry basket in hand.
"Oh! Eddie! What happened to your mouth?" Mrs. Tozier asked worriedly and Eddie ghosted his fingers over his swollen lips dumbly.
Eddie pulled his fingers away and saw traces of blood. His eyebrows knit, fucking Richie Tozier. "J-Just chapped.. Goodnight!" Eddie waved his hand and scurried out of the Tozier home dashing out onto the lawn toward the safety of his car.
