Derek kept running and running while the converted solider just kept roaring like a horrible monster or giant beast that wanted to eat and chomp on his bones.

Nova loosely followed, still gripping her gun tightly. How was this guy still standing after being shot in the leg? She eventually peeked out, ready to tackle the converted before suddenly...

Derek pulled out a knife from his hoodie pocket.

'The fuck did he get a knife?!?' Nova exclaimed.

Derek looked from side to side before taking a deep breath and then...stabbing himself. He cried in pain before he fell to his knees and then went limp.

Nova's eyes widened at the horrifying sight she just saw. She then began to sob. In front of her own eyes, a possibly orphaned child just committed suicide.

The converted looked at the body and then walked over, grabbing a drop of blood. He then shrugged and walked off.

But then Nova found her own version of feral. She growled and then slammed her gun into the converted's stomach and knee, knocking them down on their chest.

She pointed the gun towards their back and started shooting, screaming as she did so. With all the rage. With all the hate. With all the fear.

But that's when probably the stupidest kid- I mean, idea, woke up to tell Nova. "NOVA! NOVA! I'M NOT ACTUALLY DEAD!!!!"

Nova stopped firing and then looked at the dead guy she just killed and then to Derek. "WHAT!? HOW THE HELL!?!?!?"

"I taped ketchup packets to my stomach. I figured some Shade would be after me, so I thought I'd fake my death so they wouldn't need to go after me." Derek said as he rubbed the back of his head. "I...was hoping you'd only see the fake body..."

"What. The. FUCK!!?!?" Nova shouted. "YOU SCARED THE SHIT OUTTA ME! I'M SUPPOSED TO PROTECT YOU AND YOU PULL A TRICK LIKE THAT!?!?! AND NOW BECAUSE OF YOUR RECKLESSNESS, I KILLED AN INNOCENT CIVILIAN!! I DON'T GIVE A CRAP IF HE'S BRAINWASHED, NOW HE'S DEAD!!!!" She growled. "I told you to stay close to me when I activated the smoke grenade, but nooo! You had to follow your own rules!!! Why won't you see I'm trying my best to keep my cool and actually save people!!!! Do you not care about anyone else's feelings but your own!?!? That's why I'M protecting you, why I'M the one in charge!!! The girl apparently killing random people to protect YOU, Raymond-" She then blinked and fell to her knees. "I-I mean...D-Derek..."

"Nova..." Derek whispered. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking..."

Nova sniffled and then began to sob before Derek hugged her. Nova sniffled again and then hugged back.

"...Who's Raymond?"

"M...My brother. My little brother. Since the day he was born, he always wanted to disobey everything with good intentions. He was a rebel. He always wanted to help, and while I appreciated the thought...our parents weren't there anymore, and I had to watch him. I love him too much for his own good...now, he's in this coma or some shit, and I can't stop thinking that he's gonna die when I'm not there...leaving him there with a bunch of survivors is my biggest regret since the invasion started." She sobbed. "I'm sorry for yelling back there...just don't do shit like that again."

"I won't. I know how it feels to harbor in things until they just explode. Back at my school, there was this pack of bullies who no matter how many times were told to stop, they would keep coming back. One day, I confronted the main bully and let out a lot of anger that wasn't even towards him. He came back with a black eye, heh." He sighed. "He left me alone, but so did everyone else. I became the bad guy....but I look at it now and see that I still did a bad thing. I should've just screamed at him or told my parents or just anyone. Not actually beat him up to the point where EVERYONE sees me as the new bully."

"You're a good kid, Derek. Just confused and have a lot of emotions you need to let out." She said, patting him on the back. "And kinda dumb for doing that earlier."

"I said I was sorry." He snorted.

"You're gonna need a million more sorry's." She said. "Honestly, I think we're all gonna need some serious therapy after this. I have a lot of inner things I need to work out."

Then, Nova's phone buzzed and she reached in, seeing a text from Macy. 'Talon and I got Derek's dads and a bunch of others. Hope we didn't keep you waiting. Meet us at this point please. Love, Macy.'

Nova sighed before standing up. "Welp. Time for a family reunion."

Meanwhile, there was a giant high speed chase between hover cars. Talon was trying to lose them, but the Shades were determined.

One of the Shooters fired an energy beam from his car, but Talon deflected it back.

Another one appeared beside them, but this was a Smasher. They activated their guard and with their floating arm, smashed the window.

Glass shards appeared everywhere, one even cutting Macy, but the chase continued.

"Dean! How much further to the station?!" Talon cried as he bumped into both Shades, smashing their cars and the drivers, finally losing them.

"One block away...but you might find a problematic greeting there." Dean said.

Talon was a little confused before he saw a bunch of Shade at the station. "MOTHER-"

"FUCKER!" Macy finished. "HOW MANY OF THESE GUYS ARE THERE!?!?"

"I DON'T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE!!!!" Talon roared before flying the car upwards to dodge a beam from a Shooter and then started flying around.

The Shade were guarding the escape point from all sides. There was no safe way to get to them.

"What I'd give to be a Shooter right now..." Talon huffed.

"Yeah, shooting things is pretty useful." Macy said.

"No! This ship has a built in energy laser field, which unless those guys and girls have a death wish, it would keep them away! Only a Shooter can activate it!" Talon exclaimed.

Macy's gears twisted and turned in her brain before she came up with an idea and pulled out her Everything Ray. She then inserted it into the gear where the Shooters would normally place their palm.

She then began firing an energy ray, and then? The laser field began to come down.

The Shades all screamed and quickly ran away as the field protected the escape point.

"It...It worked!!! I can't believe that actually worked!!!" Talon laughed. "Macy, I love-"

Macy looked at him, a little shocked and even blushing a tad.

"W...What you did. Yeah. I love what you did." Talon said, turning to the window.

Macy blushed, but giggled. "Well, what I did loves you too." She said before going into the back. "Alright everyone! The platform will lower to the evacuation station in a few seconds. It will be kinda scary, but we'll be ok!" Macy said as she hopped onto the platform.

"I'll join you soon!" Talon said before seeing a Shade hop onto his car. He growled and then pressed a button that ejected them. Another appeared at the broken window, so he used the wind shield wipers to get him to fall.

Meanwhile, as the platform was lowering, Macy flipped off The Shade with a cackle, having a feeling that they were safe enough to do so.

But then, the laser filed began deactivating as the platform lowered slowly. Macy growled. "OF COURSE IT WAS TEMPORARY!!! WHY DOES THAT STUPID GUN RUN OUT OF BATTERIES!?!?"

The Shade laughed before walking towards them.

"MACY, YOU STUPID-"

But then, The Shade all began to scream in pain, holding their heads as a sound played.

Nova was behind them, with her phone and a recording of an incredibly loud sound playing.

All the Shade, while in pain quickly ran at her, so Nova ran off, wanting to lead them away.

"Phew." Macy said. "Wait, is Talon within hearing range-"

Talon then fell right next to her, groaning as he handed her Everything Ray back. "This thing died."

"I can tell." Macy said as she helped him up and then activated the station.

Talon sighed in relief. "Soon, this will all come to an end."

"Wait...WHERE'S DEREK!?!?" Macy screamed.

Nathan and Steven looked at the two, eyes wide.

"Deactivate the elevator!!!" Talon cried.

"I can't!!! It's already about to descend!!" Macy exclaimed. "Why didn't you remind me?!?"

"I was PANICKING!!!!" Talon screamed.

Nathan looked down before seeing a figure run over. "Derek?"

Steven sniffled. "Don't worry. He'll always be in our hearts..."

"No!! Look!!!" Nathan cried as he pointed at his son, using all the speed he could muster.

"Come on, Dare! You can do it!!!" Steven urged before Derek jumped into the elevator at the last minute and into his parent's arms.

Just as they had their son again, they began to sob as much as Derek was. Even after only half a day, it felt like it had been years.

Macy sniffled. "I love happy endings. This is so touching!"

"Mission accomplished." Talon said with a grin.

"You know, we'd make great parents." Macy said suddenly.

"WHAT." Talon said, looking at her.

Macy snorted. "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! Way too early to be thinking about that." She then smirked. "Unless you ever wanna do the thing that makes kids early~"

"...No."

"No as in no or no as in you won't let me know?" Macy asked.

Talon just blinked, ignoring her question.

Macy shrugged before the elevator finally stopped and she activated the train that would safely evacuate everyone. "All aboard!"

Everyone ran in, relieved.

But as Derek was about to, he stopped and hugged both Talon and Macy. "Thank you..."

Macy and Talon smiled and hugged back before giving a little wave before Derek was gone and everyone was evacuated.

They both sighed. "There's probably gonna be hundreds of Shade waiting for us after this, huh?"

"No doubt about it." Talon said.
