Chapter 1: Crash Landing

The woman who awoke with the nightmare rose from her bed after pushing aside how disturbed the nightmare made her.

She followed her normal morning routine. First was always a shower to wake herself up faster. From there she would make a smoothie and a dish only known on that planet, but it resembles eggs and sausage on Earth.

After she finished breakfast she cleaned up quickly and left her home into a hall. Her home is a room in the palace, one of many that were created for the honored soldiers of the kingdom. She was he second in command just below the general.

Today was her day off duty, but she had a habit of still going along her routes and surveying dispute this.

She went to the armory and grabbed both her weapon and a cloak. She attached the hilt off her sword to her belt and placed the cloak around her shoulders, clasping it at the front of her throat. She placed the hood up and walked out of the armory.

From the armory she walked down a few more halls be fire she made it to the main entrance and exit of the palace.

A breeze blew, neither warm nor cold, just perfect. The trees and plants were in bloom as winter had just pass so it was a beautiful day for a walk.

In a few minutes she reached the barrier. This barrier wad created after the last great war the kingdom faced. In the end they were only down to a few hundred compared to thousands of lives they had living there, so the king and queen of three generations before the current ones had the architect create the intimate protection.

The barrier it created by electromagnetic waves travelling between sturdy metallic bars. If someone were to touch it the would receive a strong shock. It was also made so they could see the outside world, but the outside world could not see them.

Along the barrier that encased the kingdom 17 exits are located. At each of these exist a person works so they can allow people to come and go through the day. If the barrier were to malfunction or someone needed to come and go at night each person had a gem that would instinctively create a barrier that blocked them from harm as they passed through.

"Good morning Ayendia!" Another girl younger than her yelled down from her post.

"Same to you Redel!" Ayendia returned with her casual tone.

"I thought you were suppose to be off duty today."

"You know me, I can't stay still."

"True. Very true. Have A nice walk then." She pressed the blue button on the panel in front of her.

The barrier parted in the middle of the two metallic pillars.

Ayendia walked through the opening to the outside world, and the barrier closed behind her.

Outside the kingdom it was mostly peaceful. There was several forest and grasslands, and the wildlife came in large numbers. To the North was an ocean where if you crossed it you would arrive at Auridon, the kingdom of ice. In fact ocean covered all ends of the kingdom, but no one knew of another land of kingdom's located on the planet.

The sky above was a mix of blue with dark and white clouds. Given it was the beginning of the warm seasons rain was more than likely to happen.

The path that Ayendia always took would go East and to a beach. She would pass through a meadow where she often seen animals grazing, and where fruit grew not to far away.

When she reached the beach she looked up and down the shore line, then at the ocean. "Nothing. Just the way I like it."

Peace was something she loved. She is a veteran of one if the longest and most fierce wars of the universe. So by nature she would prefer if another one never happened.

She walked over to a cavernous rock formation where the water flowed into. Off on the side piles of rocks and boulders were against the cavern wall that touched the beach.

From her belt she grabbed the hilt off her sword and stared at it for a moment, thinking. After a few second she switched the dial on it to flame.

From the open end of the sword a metal blade with flames around it came out. That was yet another technical advancement of the kingdom. They created weapons made from the elements.

She grabbed one of the rocks tossed it up in front if her. Then at the right moment she swung her sword and cut through the rock with it. The two halves that remained and hit the ground were black from being charred.

Rock after rock she did this again and again. This was a training method for her to keep her reflexes sharp.

Once when she threw a rock up a loud noise that sounded like thunder after a lightning bolt strikes close by echoed from around.

This caused her to miss the rock and broke her concentration. "What was that?" She kept her sword drawn and looked around.

In the sky a few brought flashes could be seen before a fireball came flying down. It was not big enough to cause major harm1or damage unless something came directly in its path.

"It's going toward the mountains." She quieted to herself.

Then from the fireball came another sound; an explosion. Black smoke came from the end of it after the sound.

Ayendia squinted her eyes, trying to see if that would allow her to see the object better, but all she seen was smoke and flame.

"Could that be a spacecraft?" She asked herself. Out of curiosity and concern she shut her sword iff, attached the hilt to her belt again, and ran off toward the mountain range.

When the object crashed into the side if the mountain she was able to see where exactly it landed from where she.

She began climbing until she reached a little over half if the elevation if the mountain.

Slowly she walked along an edge since it was small, and steep.

When she reached a solid, large, flat surface she one again looked around.

He had been right. Not far off, at the edge of a canyon a spacecraft sat. Dirt was torn up from where it first landed to where it slid, given the mountain is both rock and dirt.

The silver surface was mostly gray and black since the outer layer was either mostly burnt up in the atmosphere or scrapped up from the landing. There was numerous gashes and sent on the surface, and where the fuel tank most likely was black liquid poured out.

She approached it since she had a feeling there would have to be a pilot in it and she was concerned for their life.

She opened the door, which was already coming off its hinges and looked inside. "Hello? Can anyone hear me?"

There was no response, but that meant nothing.

She placed her foot up on the steps and walked in. It was dark since the power source was also most likely destroyed in the landing.

All she could do was feel her way as she walked to the the cockpit. As she weng further along the spacecraft jeered forward and she grabbed onto a handle near her. After she felt everything was steady and it was safe again she continued walking. When she made it she looked at the two seat for people.

There was only one person and they were in the pilots seat.

With her eyes now adjusting to the dark and some light coming in through the shattered, dirty window that was facing down slightly into the canyon she was able to see the person was a man.

She reached over from the side and unbuckled him. "Sir, are you alright?" She asked as she did this.

Once again silence was her response.

She grabbed one of his arms and his opposite side and got him up. As she did so she turned around and bent forward a bit to boost him onto her back.

Due to the shift in weight the spacecraft jeered forward again.

Ayendia leaned against the pilot seat and held on tight with one hand and half her body, while having her other hand over her back on the man.

When the craft stopped moving again she made her way back to the door and walked out.

She walked a few feet from the craft and laid the man down. She took a quick glimse over her shoulder at the craft to see it was hanging half way over the cliff now, and she knew one day it would fall over, there would be no salvaging it.

Then she turned her focus back to the man and checked for injuries.

One was on his arm, which explains why she felt warm liquid when she grabbed him and the blood on her hand now.

She grabbed the hilt of her sword off her belt again and sat it to the length of a dagger. She cut a strip of fabric off the cloak the wore and tied it around the wound.

For all the major wounds she could find she did this. Some locations she had to remove glass, but those were not too deep.

When she was fine providing what medical help she could in the moment she placed the dagger within the hilt and once again hooked it up to her belt.

She got into her knees and again grabbed him so she could carry him on her back. Then she stood up and began walking.

Little by little she found ways to get down the mountain with the man. She managed to give herself some scrapes and likely future bruises as she did, but while carrying someone no one could easily make it down a mountain.

She knew she was also probably giving the man more scrapes and future bruises, but in her mind it was better than letting him bleed to death.

While on watch of the borders Redel could see Ayendia approaching with the man. She hit a bright red with blue and green markings. This sent a message to the closest hospital that assistance was needed. Again she hit the blue button after that so the barrier could be opened.

Ayendia walked in and collapsed to her knees, and once again laid the man down again.

Redel came down from the tower and ran over. "Are you alright?"

"Yes, I'm alright. I'm just a little beaten up, but nothing serious. He's the one in need of help."

Redel looked at the man. "The medics will be here soon. I already activated the emergency message. What happened?"

"I'll have time to explain that all later."

Not long after that conversation the medics arrived and took the man away.

Ayendia also had to go since they insisted. After all her appearance was worse than what the damage actually was for her.
