Chapter 9

Here's another chapter! Also, there are always two people who view the new part in my story every time right after I post, so I don't know who you two are, but you always make my day. And if anyone needs to talk, comment or message me because I'm always open to talk (I've been told I should be a therapist ;)

Not mine

Percy's POV:

Percy woke up to Annabeth snuggled up on his chest. He knew it would be the last thing that she would admit to but he knew she loved it. Thankfully, the twins only woke up twice that night, which was a new record. The second thing he noticed was that it was snowing.

Mr. D had to occasionally lift the borders to let in the rain when the grass got too dry or it was just a really hot day out. But since it was December in New York, there was a soft blanket of snow on the ground.

Percy knew that the younger kids would love it. Heck, he loved it because he didn't have to teach sword fighting. Technically, he was on paternity leave from it, but because a lot of their female friends were obsessed with the babies, he had time to give lessons to campers for an hour or so. That being said, snow days just hit different.

The snow was more of a storm though than a soft dusting. It came down hard with dark clouds looming overhead. Even the Sound was churning with harsh waves, chunks of ice being tossed around in it. Probably some fight on Olympus, he concluded.

Annabeth stirred from beside him and cuddled deeper into his side, pulling up the blankets to her chin. That was yet another thing they never agreed on.  He preferred to sleep with the sheets at his waist because he liked to sleep in the cold better. Annabeth, however, claimed it was freezing and always had extra blankets piled up on her side.

She blinked her gray eyes open and looked up at him. They just stared at each other for a few seconds before she looked out the window.

"Well that's not good," she stated, sitting up with the blankets. He sat up next to her, just to have Annabeth lean over into his side with her blanket cocoon.

Percy chuckled at her and kissed the top of her head. "Good morning, Wise girl."

"Morning, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth mumbled.

They sat in silence for a little longer, staring out the window watching the snowfall. Finally, Annabeth broke the silence.

"I want soup," she concluded.

"Annabeth, it's 8 o'clock. You haven't even had breakfast, why the heck do you want soup?"

"Not now, later. On cold winter days you always have to have warm soup and hot cocoa. We can see if our friends want to come over and we can all have soup."

Percy chuckled at her idea. They both knew that Annabeth can't cook. She was getting better if he did say so. She had Hazel and Calypso over a lot who were invested in teaching her. Annabeth had seen Sally always have something for him, so she tried occasionally to have food for him. She wasn't the submissive housewife type, but she knew his love language was through food.

"Okay, Wise Girl. If you want soup then we can have soup," he said rolling his eyes.

She grinned at her victory and got out of bed, stretching. She was wearing his sweatpants and one of his shirts. He smiled at that and stood up as well. Percy walked down to the nursery to find Luke still asleep. Silena, however, was wide awake. He was surprised that she didn't scream and wail for attention when she first woke up, but Percy didn't complain. He picked her up and she stared back at him, not making a sound. Annabeth walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, looking down at Silena. The baby just looked between both of them.

"It's a miracle she stayed quiet," Annabeth whispered.

"That's what I thought," Percy agreed. He shifted her to one arm and held his other hand above her chest. Silena grabbed one of his fingers with her tiny fist. She looked confused by it, so she stuck it in her mouth and sucked, disappointed not to find anything special. They both chuckled at her action.

Luke started to cry from across the room. Annabeth sighed and walked over to him, picking him up.

"Shh... shh... it's okay sweetie, you're fine," Annabeth soothed, sitting down in the rocking chair. He calmed down fast and his cries turned to soft sniffles. Luke stared at his mother with amusement. "You know, this chair is special. It was made by your Uncle Leo who used wood from a special ship called the Argo ll. Mommy and daddy had a lot of... interesting times on that ship," she finished. Luke stayed the same, staring upwards.

Percy sighed internally. He wasn't in the mood to think about former quests. Their family moment was interrupted by a loud bang downstairs. Percy and Annabeth looked at each other quickly before sprinting down the stairs, holding their children tight. He sighed when he saw who it was.

"For the love of all the gods, Leo you don't always have to set your hands on fire when saying your name!" Piper screamed.

"Sorry, I was feeling myself!" Leo defended.

Silena started to cry from the yelling. Piper and Leo both looked up to them on the stairs.

"Oh, hi," Piper said.

Annabeth responded, "And why are you here? It's not even 8:30-"

"We are making our rounds to wake everyone up because we were bored as shit. Jason was too tired to join us and said it was rude, like can you believe him?!" Leo said.

"I can," Percy mumbled. He was rubbing circles on Silena's back to try and calm her down. "Can't you guys just let people sleep in on a day off?"

"Nope." They said simultaneously.

"We will probably come back later with everyone else so if we aren't wanted, too bad," Piper laughed. "Anyways, gotta go," they opened the door and stepped out.

"At least be careful out there, I'm talking to you Leo!" Annabeth shouted as they closed the door.

Silena was only sniffling by now. "I will never understand them," Annabeth stated.

"See I can have that kind of energy, but not in the morning," Percy shrugged.

"Oh I know," Annabeth snickered. They sat on the couch and she grabbed a blanket for her and Luke. Silena was still sniffling; Percy frowned.

"I wonder why she's still crying, it's not loud," he ventured.

Annabeth looked over at her. Silena's big gray eyes were watery with tears. "I don't know... we can see if Will knows anything about it later."

"So Solace is just a multipurpose doctor now?"

"Yup."

Annabeth's POV:

It was 11:00 and all of their friends had come over as Piper had said. This consisted of Piper, Leo, Jason, Nico, Will, Calypso, Clarisse, Chris, Thalia, Travis, Connor, and Katie. Hazel, Frank, and Reyna were at Camp Jupiter for the time being, and Grover was helping the nymphs and dryads with the cold weather. They were in the living room just enjoying conversation. Thalia was holding Luke while Clarisse was holding Silena. The two of them both felt drawn to the babies for obvious reasons.

"You know Clarisse," Percy joked, "You love kids so much why don't you just have your own?"

"Shut up, Jackson," she glared. "And I don't love kids, they are simply too innocent to hurt and they haven't done anything to bother me too much yet. Plus if I was pregnant, I wouldn't train for a year and would end up like Annie here."

"Hey!" Annabeth argued. "I'm not that bad!" She hated side comments like that because it made her feel weak. Was part of it true, yes, but she found it to be worth it.

"Calm down, Wise Girl I'm kidding," Clarisse rolled her eyes. Annabeth didn't feel like she was kidding, but stayed quiet.

"Anyways," Jason said, "We are going to Camp Jupiter in a week, right?"

"That's what I thought," Percy recalled. "Unless something changed."

"Well what's the date?" Piper asked.

"It's the 9th of December," Annabeth responded.

Leo was about to say something but was cut off by Silena's crying. Clarisse stared down with pity for the child. Annabeth sighed and took her from Clarisse. She had the same face as this morning. She didn't look hungry and she didn't need to be changed, she just looked uncomfortable and sad.

"Will," Annabeth started, "I think something's wrong with her."

Will frowned at this. "Did she eat today?"

"She did but was fussy and didn't really want to."

"Let me see her."

Annabeth passed a crying Silena over to Will. He held her up and looked all around her. "She looks fine from the outside," he concluded. Will reached into his bag and pulled out an otoscope. Nico snorted next to him.

"So you just carry that around with you in case you need it?" He remarked.

"Yeah basically," Will answered. They all watched as he looked in her eyes, mouth, nose, and ear. He took a little bit longer on her left ear. "Now I'm not a classified pediatrician, but I'm pretty sure she has an ear infection," he concluded.

"Aww poor thing," Katie whispered.

Will handed Silena to Percy. He gave a sad smile at his daughter. "What are we going to do with you, baby?" He muttered.

"I'll give you guys medicine for her tomorrow or even later today if it stops snowing because the paths and roads are under a foot of snow," Will stated.

"Is it that bad outside?" Annabeth wondered.

"Oh yeah," Travis answered. "We were swimming through snow on the way here, and our cabin isn't far from yours."

Next to her, Percy had calmed Silena down. She was sleeping peacefully snuggled up in his arms against his chest. He just rocked her back and forth, staring down with admiration. Annabeth gushed internally at it but smiled from the outside. Silena was a daddy's girl already.

"We should make lunch," Calypso offered.

"Yes, I agree," said Katie.

"You ladies can do that," Connor smirked. "Stay in the kitchen, it's your job. Us guys will be in the basement awaiting our meal."

He was besieged all at once by the women in the room. Katie and Calypso smacked him across the face and upside the head, Annabeth and Piper chucked the nearest shoe they could find at him, Thalia held a kitchen knife to his throat, and Clarisse grabbed a throwing knife from her pocket and threw it at him, missing his face by a centimeter. Connor squeaked and dared not to move.

"Now, now," Chris reasoned. "Let's not kill him all at once, even if he is ever so stupid to say that to a room full of lethal demigoddesses."

Jason ever so slowly took the kitchen knife away from his sister, while Travis pulled Katie back.

"Anyways," Leo peeped. "We are going to the basement."

All of the boys flocked downstairs except for Percy. He just laughed at them and turned to Annabeth. "I'm gonna put her down for a nap, I'll take Luke with me," he said. Annabeth took Luke from Thalia and handed him to Percy. Her husband pecked her lips for a small second before walking upstairs with their children. Calypso sighed.

"You got a good one, Annabeth. I love Leo of course, but I hope that he will be as good of a father one day that Percy is to your children," she said.

Annabeth blushed, "Yeah, he's pretty great."

"Okay," Katie started, "What are we making?"

"Don't care," Thalia said, munching on some chips.

"Same," Clarisse agreed while sitting on the counter, stealing some of Thalia's chips. "I don't cook."

"I say chicken noodle soup," Calypso offered. "It's easy and it's warm, perfect for a cold day."

"Sounds good to me," Piper said, looking through the fridge. "For not cooking that often, Annabeth, your fridge is so organized."

Annabeth laughed. "Are you surprised?"

"Nope." Piper grabbed celery, carrots, and two onions.

"Annabeth," Katie asked, "Do you have a dutch oven, or a really large pot? Considering we are feeding an army we need to make a double batch."

"Yeah," she answered, grabbing the olive oil. "under the counter in that cabinet."

It didn't take long to get the soup started. Calypso and Katie did most of it with some help from Piper and Annabeth. Clarisse and Thalia just stole pieces of food and watched. Piper made a weird face when Katie was shredding up the chicken.

"I've been vegetarian for a while now, and I still can't stand chicken," Piper gagged.

"So you just aren't gonna have our delicious soup?" Katie smirked.

Piper shrugged. "I'll just eat around it."

"Annabeth," Calypso interrupted, "where is the oregano and the rest of the spices?"

"It's in a mason jar in the cupboard above the stove, there's a section of things from the Greek store," Annabeth answered, munching on a carrot.

Clarisse laughed, "You have a section in your kitchen dedicated to a Greek grocery store?"

Everyone else laughed at that too. "Of course I do, ask Thalia she comes with me sometimes," Annabeth smiled.

Thalia, who was now stealing chicken from Katie, nodded. "They have good gyros."

"See? And no I'm not obsessed I just appreciate culture," Annabeth said.

"Whatever, Chase," Clarisse said, rolling her eyes.

"That's not my name anymore," she argued.

"No, it's not. But if I call you Jackson when Prissy's around he thinks I'm talking to him, so Chase."

"Whatever you say, La Rue," Annabeth said. Clarisse frowned, then realized what she was doing. She just chuckled at her. Only difference was Clarisse hyphened her last name because she thought she was giving up too much to a man if she completely changed her last name.

"Okay," Calypso announced, "soup if almost done, call the boys up to eat."

Jason's POV:

It was around 10:00. The snowstorm had subsided and it was now a soft flurry. Jason and Piper were in the Zeus cabin because Piper didn't want to deal with her siblings. They were sitting on the couch watching Christmas movies and talking.

"Did you hold one of the babies today?" Piper asked.

"I held Luke for a little bit after he woke up from his nap," Jason answered. "Percy and Annabeth have cute kids."

"You could say that again," Piper said. "They are so tiny and cute and they just cuddle up to your chest and-"

"Pipes, your inner Aphrodite is showing," Jason chuckled.

"I know but it's true! I want one."

Jason's face turned bright red with embarrassment. "Well you gotta wait a little while for one. Wedding is less than a year away, so you can think about a baby after that."

Piper sighed. "I know. They are just so precious."

They sat in silence for a little longer and watched the hallmark movie that was on. Towards the end of it, Piper spoke back up.

"You remember what Connor said earlier today?"

Jason gave a short laugh. "Trust me, I do. He was scared shitless after it."

"I love you, Sparky, but don't expect me to be your personal housewife that cooks and cleans to your demand," she muttered.

"I don't plan on making you one either. I like you just how you are."
