Chapter 27

The chapter I wrote was so long I had to split it up. Here you go.

Nope

Percy's POV:

Percy knew he was dreaming immediately. He found himself in a room with dark smoke-like substance surrounding him. In front of him stood Annabeth and someone else he couldn't make out, but they were dressed in black. Percy knew they couldn't see him.

The figure started tracing a staff in their right hand. Percy knew that staff, he saw it yesterday.

Hera.

"Your child will be quite powerful. It will have many things that will come after them. One wrong move, and you have Titans after your children," Hera explained. Percy knew they were talking about his youngest child, who wasn't even born yet.

To his left, Annabeth stood shocked. "But I don't understand, legacies aren't supposed to be powerful-"

"Does the child you hold in your hands not carry limits of the power of Poseidon?"

Annabeth took a step back and shifted Silena in her arms.

"They don't have strong powers, but yours happens to be different," said Hera.

"But he/she has brain damage-"

"That is what you think, and that is what the gods think. It appears to be that way, because your child is such a rare case. Did you really think a legacy of Athena would be born with brain damage?"

Percy hadn't thought about that.

Annabeth stared at Hera. "So what do you expect me to do?"

"Kill it," she ordered. Hera lifted back her headscarf and turned to face him. She stared at him with her sharp light brown eyes. "Hello, Perseus."

Percy sat up in bed fast. He clutched the sheets tightly in his fists and breathed heavily. He was in a cold sweat from head to toe. He turned and looked at the clock; 2:34am. His chest felt tight and he had a massive headache to match it. He felt so claustrophobic, like he had to get out of the room.

Annabeth awoke next to him, staring up at him. "What's wrong?"

She reached up to touch his arm, but Percy flinched and pushed her hand away. "Don't touch me," he panted.

Annabeth looked hurt, but recoiled her hand away from him. "Sorry..." she peeped.

Percy stood from their bed and walked downstairs and out the door. Before he knew it, he was sitting down in the sand on the beach, feet in the water. He sat like that for about 5 minutes before he caught his breath and relaxed.

Now that he had calmed down, he felt bad for pushing Annabeth away. She was only trying to ask him what was wrong, and he had sort of flipped out on her and ran out of the house.

But Hera had told her to kill their baby. Annabeth was not one to listen to Hera but by the looks of it, she didn't know that it was Hera. Percy couldn't just let her kill their baby. And why was this one different than Luke and Silena? Athena and Apollo wouldn't lie to them because if they knew how powerful their baby was, they'd be open about it to them. But why was Hera the only one to know this?

Percy sighed and stood back up. He wanted Annabeth to share her side of it, he didn't know if she knew more. He walked back inside and up to their room. Annabeth laid on her side, still awake but looked tired. When she saw him, she sat up and moved to the very edge of her side of the bed.

Percy stood in their doorway, surprised by her actions. She sat so stiff and breath jaggedly, staring at him expectantly. His heart dropped; was she... afraid of him? No, Percy told himself that that couldn't be true. He hadn't hit her or anything, never would, just pushed her hand away. Still, she looked nervous.

Percy swallowed hard and walked over to their bed. He sat on the edge of his side, Annabeth didn't move. She looked like she wanted to say something but was waiting for him to say something first.

"Sorry," he started, "for pushing you away."

"It's okay," she said quietly. "Um, are you okay?"

"I had a dream," he stated flatly.

Annabeth looked like she knew what was coming. "...What about?"

"Your encounter with Hera."

"What... what did you see?"

Percy retold the events of what he saw. Annabeth stared forward out the window the whole time he talked. When he finished, she spoke. "Percy I..." she didn't finish her sentence because her breath hitched and she started crying. Not like sniffles, but heartbreaking sobs.

Percy scooted closer to her and pulled Annabeth onto his lap. She cried heavily into his chest. Percy just stoked her hair. It was hard for him to find words of encouragement, he didn't know what to say to her.

"Shh, it's okay, it's okay," he murmured. "I'm not mad, Wise Girl. But why didn't you tell me?"

Annabeth coughed and tried to calm herself down. He internally cursed her pregnancy hormones for making her sensitive. After a little longer, she was able to speak.

"Y-you didn't s-see the e-end," she choked. "She t-told me I-I couldn't tell a-anybody."

"But why wouldn't you be able to tell anybody-"

"I don't know!" she yelled frustrated. Percy pulled her back down into his embrace. He didn't want her to wake up the twins. Annabeth had her hands in her hair and was rocking back and forth. Percy rubbed her back softly. He didn't want her to have another panic attack.

Annabeth panted a bit before continuing clearly. "She said I could kill it or keep it but when it's born, give it to her, where she'd probably kill it. I didn't know it was her until I saw her in the throne room again."

"We don't have to do either, Annabeth. This is our baby, and we can keep it. We don't have to turn it into some crazy goddess. If none of the other gods say so, we don't have to do it." Percy kissed her lightly on her tear-stained cheek.

"But what if she kills it, Percy? While it's alive and breathing. She could sneak in at night and kill the baby in it's sleep while we weren't watching it, or simply steal them and take them to Olympus," Annabeth kept rambling on about how Hera could kill their baby, something he didn't want to hear.

Percy continued to rub her back as she shook. "We'll deal with it later, okay? Just promise me that you'll stay positive, deal?"

Annabeth nodded, "I promise." He pulled her back down to him and held her tight. She was shivering from the cold night air. Percy grabbed an extra blanket from the end of their bed and wrapped her up in it. Slowly, her eyes dropped and she leaned on him more.

After she was fast asleep, Percy laid her back and tucked her in, pulling the sheets all the way up to her chin. He kissed her one more time before laying down and wrapping his arms around her. He rested his hands over their baby, that was currently still alive.

Piper's POV:

It was June 21st, Piper's wedding day. She had been woken up at the crack of dawn to get ready for the day. They had decided to have it in New Rome because it meant so much to Jason, and the entire town was beautiful. They were having it in a part that was off the gardens of Bacchus because Piper thought that was the prettiest place, and it was used for other weddings. She was currently in a hotel room that wasn't far from it.

Piper was doing her own makeup because she didn't trust anyone else. Her mom would probably go way too over the top, and she wanted it to look natural. Around the room, Annabeth, Hazel, and Thalia buzzed around getting ready. Annabeth was her maiden of honor, Hazel was her best friend so of course she would be in it, and Thalia because she was Jason's only sister. Piper also liked Thalia.

They had debated Reyna being a bridesmaid too, but had decided that it would be kind of petty. Reyna said she was fine not being in it anyways.

Annabeth walked over and patted her on the shoulder. She stood behind Piper and smiled at her in the mirror. "How you doing?"

Piper set down her bronzer. "I'm good, just a little nervous."

"Just relax, this is a happy day. You're not supposed to spend it stressed out."

Piper nodded and continued to put her makeup on. At that moment, her mother waltzed in the room, carrying Piper's wedding dress. It was still in the bag though. Aphrodite hung it up on a hook and turned to Piper.

She smiled, "Piper sweetie you look wonderful already."

Piper looked herself up and down. "I'm in a bathrobe-"

Aphrodite ignored her comment. "What do you want to do with your hair?"

"I was just gonna leave it down and curl it."

Annabeth interjected from there. "I love you, Piper, which is why I'm going to tell you this. I think that would look good, but it's really hot outside and you don't want to be sweating at the altar."

"Oh, true. I forgot about that part," Piper admitted.

"I think I know what to do." Aphrodite snapped her fingers. Piper's hair was pinned back in an intricate series of curls. Her baby hairs had been curled in the front and framed her face. "What do you think?" Aphrodite asked.

"I love it," Piper smiled.

"It looks good," Hazel said.

Aphrodite squealed, "Oh I'm so glad. Put your dress on after you finish your makeup. I'll be back in a little bit, I'm going to check on the boys." She kissed Piper's cheek and strutted out the room.

After a few minutes, Piper had finished her makeup. She stood up and turned to the others. "You might have to help me get into it."

Annabeth laughed lightly as Piper unzipped the bag. She pulled out her dress and almost dropped it. Right under the strap of her dress, the side seam had been ripped from top to bottom. Piper wanted to cry.

Thalia frowned from next to her. "What's wrong?"

Piper turned and showed her now torn dress. All of them gasped. "I don't know what happened-"

"Where did you store it? Before you flew here?" Hazel asked urgently.

"In the Aphrodite cabin," Piper answered.

Annabeth cursed, "It was probably that bitch of your sister, Drew."

That wasn't Piper's first thought, but Annabeth was probably right. Piper fanned her face and tilted her head back, stopping the tears from coming down. "What am I supposed to do?! My wedding is in less than an hour and a half!"

"I got it," Annabeth said. She ran over to her bag and dug through it. She pulled out a small white box and opened it. She pulled out a small white spool of thread and a needle.

"So you just carry that around with you?" Thalia asked sarcastically.

"You'd be surprised how many holes Percy gets in his shirts," she said, threading the needle.

"I'm not surprised," Thalia stated.

Annabeth set down the needle and thread and walked back over to Piper. "Put it on," she ordered.

"But it's ripped-"

"Do you want me to fix it or not?"

Piper put the dress on. It took a little assistance from all parties but she got it on.

"Raise your arm," Annabeth instructed. She got down on her knees which was conveniently at the same level where the rip started. Annabeth started stitching the dress closed, working her way up.

"When did you learn how to sew?" Hazel marveled.

Annabeth didn't take her eyes off her project, but answered Hazel. "Athena is also the goddess of crafts and handiwork. One of my older sisters taught the basics to me when I was 8, and I taught myself the rest. I also learned that I can weave things pretty well when I went searching for the Athena Parthenos."

She didn't elaborate, so Piper didn't ask questions. After about 20 minutes, Annabeth had made it up a little over halfway.

"Annie, you might wanna pick up the pace," Thalia said.

"Do you want to try?!" she jabbed.

"Nope, I'm just here telling you to hurry it up," Thalia smirked.

"Get your dress on, you too Hazel," Annabeth ordered.

They ran around getting dressed while Annabeth continued to sew away. The bridesmaid dresses were a light purple.

After another 20 minutes, Annabeth was almost done. Thankfully, Thalia and Hazel were dressed because Leo walked through the door.

"Hey ladies," he grinned.

"Get out," Thalia sneered.

"Yes ma'am. But give me a minute." Leo turned in the direction of Piper and Annabeth. "What happened here?"

"Piper's dress was ripped," Annabeth explained, tying the threat in knots to secure it tight. She cut the thread, stood up, and gave a heavy sigh. "Fixed."

Piper walked over to the mirror and stared at herself. Annabeth had done a wonderful job, it looked like nothing had happened in the first place. She hugged Annabeth tightly. "Thank you so, so much. I don't know how to thank you enough."

Annabeth smiled, "That's what friends are for. Now let's get your veil."

Annabeth dragged Piper over to the hotel bed, where the box for her veil sat. Annabeth opened the box and gently took out the tiara, setting it on the bed. She unraveled the veil and found the top of it. Annabeth turned to Piper and pushed the veil in her hair. She was about to put the tiara on her head but was cut off by Leo.

"Wait," he interrupted. "Can I, um, can I put it on?" He fiddled with his fingers, waiting for Annabeth to answer.

Annabeth passed the tiara to Leo. He looked very excited by this and stood in front of Piper. He focused on putting it on just right, moving it slightly to center it. Hazel stood off to the side, taking pictures of them. After it was on, he stepped back, admiring his work. He smiled at Piper. "You look beautiful, Pipes."

Piper's bottom lip shook a bit. "Thanks, Leo." She stuck her arms out and Leo leaned in to hug her tightly.

"I'm so happy for you, Beauty Queen. You look so pretty, I just know Jason's going to love it," he mentioned.

Piper hugged him tighter and kicked him lightly in the shin. "You're making me cry, stop that," she laughed.

Leo chucked, "I love you, Piper."

"I love you too, Leo. Can you promise me something?" She asked, kissing his cheek and pulling away.

"What?"

"If Jason isn't crying the second he sees me, please kick him in the back of the leg."

He laughed, "Of course, Pipes." Leo stared at her for a second longer, getting one last good look at her.

"I should go, just wanted to see you and say good luck," he smiled.

"Thank you, Repair Boy. I appreciate it."

Leo walked to the door, waved goodbye, and left. Piper stood there for a minute, appreciating his efforts. She snapped out of it and turned to Annabeth. "You need to get dressed, do you need help or anything?"

"I'm okay, don't worry about me." Annabeth reached into the closet and grabbed her dress, then walked into the bathroom. She had grabbed something else out of her bag, but Piper didn't make much of it.

~~~~~
Annabeth's POV:
Annabeth put on her dress and looked in the mirror. Already, her former athletic figure she'd worked so hard to get back, was gone. Her baby bump wasn't that big, but it was still noticeable. Annabeth huffed and took off her dress. Will said she had to go on partial bed rest in a week, so she planned to enjoy her time at Piper and Jason's wedding. Apparently too much activity could harm the baby and considering Annabeth was a very active person, Will was making her sit out. She didn't want to go on bed rest for 6 months, but if it prevented her and Percy's baby from 'worsening brain damage' then she was going with it.
Annabeth was still shaken up after her talk with Hera, even though it was a month ago. Hera was known to lie, but they were still apprehensive about it. The woman could be lying to her and their baby could actually have brain damage, or she could be right and he/she would cause another war.
"Thalia?" she called.
"What?" Thalia shouted through the door.
"Can you come here?"
Thalia opened the door and slid in. "What do you need?"
"I need you to tie this," Annabeth explained.
"...Is that a corset?"
"Yes."
"Why do you have that?"
"Do you remember the post-giant war party we had? The one where Aphrodite put us in ballgowns?" Annabeth asked.
Thalia blinked, "Yes."
"Yeah well it's from that," Annabeth said.
"Why did Aphrodite make you wear a corset-"
"Because she's Aphrodite. Don't tie it too tight but enough to make it look like I'm not pregnant."
Thalia sighed, lacing up the back. "If you insist. Isn't this bad for your baby though?"
Annabeth shrugged, "As long as it's not that tight."
Thalia finished tying the back, and she slid her dress back on. It was only an under bust corset so you couldn't tell she had one on. She did in fact, no longer look pregnant.
"Why don't you want to look pregnant?" Thalia asked.
"Because I just don't want to look like that in pictures," Annabeth said. And because if I lose my baby, I don't want to be reminded of it in all of their wedding pics, she thought.
"Whatever," Thalia frowned. They both walked out of the bathroom to a confused Piper.
"What happened?" Piper asked.
"I just needed Thalia to zip the back of my dress," Annabeth lied.
Piper shrugged. Aphrodite came back to see them. "What did I miss?" she asked.
Hazel laughed, "You missed Annabeth having to sew Piper's dress back together."
Aphrodite looked at Piper, confused. "What?"
"Most likely Drew ripped by dress down the side, so Annabeth had to fix it," Piper explained.
Aphrodite frowned and sighed. "I need to do something about that child. Anyway, good job Annabeth, and the ceremony is in about 10 minutes."
"I'm going to check to see if the boys are ready," Annabeth said.
"Last I checked they were tying their ties," Aphrodite recalled.
Piper laughed, "Yeah, I'd go check on that. Olympus knows half of them can't."
Annabeth smiled and left the room. She walked down to the elevator and stopped on the next floor down. She knocked on the door to the boy's room, and Frank opened it for her.
"Hey, Annabeth," he greeted.
"Hi, Frank." Annabeth walked through the door and surveyed the boys. All of them looked nice in their suits. Of course, Annabeth still sighed.
"Percy, Leo, your ties are crooked and Jason your boutonniere is about to fall off," she noted. Frank was the only one who had his stuff together.
Annabeth walked over to Jason first. She pulled out the straight pin in the back of the fold and re-positioned it so it was sitting straight and was secure. She stepped back to look at him better. "You look good, Jason."
Jason chucked, and pulled her into a hug. Jason had overtime become a brother of sorts to Annabeth. "Thanks, Annabeth."
"Of course," Annabeth smiled, pulling away from their hug.
"How's Piper?" he asked as Annabeth moved on to Leo.
"She's good, looks gorgeous," she answered.
Percy gave a slight laugh. "Rumor has it that you had to fix her dress."
Annabeth glanced up at Leo, referencing the rumor. "Yeah, I did. It's okay now."
Jason frowned, "What happened to her dress?"
"Drew, at least we think it was her, tore her dress down the side. I had to sew it back together, which took 40 minutes, but it's fine now," Annabeth explained.
"Oh, well thank you," Jason said.
"No problem." Annabeth moved on to Percy, who gave her a small kiss before she began to fix his tie. Annabeth's eyebrows were furrowed together and her eyes sank slightly.
Percy frowned at her and leaned down into her ear. "You okay?"
Annabeth nodded without taking her eyes off her project. "I'll be fine, just really tired," she muttered.
"Then sit down," Percy stated.
"I can't really, I got to stand for the wedding that's about to start in 5 minutes." Annabeth finished tying it. She kissed him softly on his lips, tasting the sweet saltiness that he always tasted like. "You guys need to go."
"Okay, see you in a little bit," Percy smiled at her.
She smiled back and said goodbye to the rest of the boys before turning and walking out the door.
