Chapter 26

All rights to Uncle Rick because I don't plagiarize.

Annabeth's POV:

Annabeth woke up to the bright sunlight streaming through the curtains. Big shock, Percy wasn't next to her. He used to value sleep more than his life, but now he always went to bed too late and woke up too early. Annabeth worried about him sometimes but whenever she asked if he was tired, he always said he was fine.

Ironically, he walked through the door at that moment. He was carrying a tray full of an assortment of breakfast foods and coffee.

"Happy Mother's Day!" Percy exclaimed.

"Oh," Annabeth said. "Thanks."

Percy frowned, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just forgot it was Mother's Day," she answered, sitting up.

He chuckled and set the tray down on her lap. "I'll be right back." Percy dashed off the way he came.

After a minute, he came back with Silena and Luke. He sat down next to her in bed and put the babies in between them. Silena had a teething toy in her mouth and was content with it. Luke reached his hands up to her and Annabeth picked him up and set him in her lap (there wouldn't be space in not that long). Percy picked up Silena and set her on his lap. She just continued to teeth of her toy.

"I need to pray to my mother," Annabeth started.

"I should call my mom or better, stop by to say hi to her," Percy said. "I'd like to spend my morning with you though."

Annabeth smiled, "I'd be fine with seeing Sally."

Percy kissed her cheek. "Good, because I wanna see her badly."

"We saw her a week ago," Annabeth recalled.

"I can't help it, I love my mama," Percy grinned.

After Annabeth finished, they walked downstairs and sat in the living room, playing with the twins. Percy had gotten Annabeth a bouquet of flowers too that was sitting in a vase on the kitchen table.

Silena had been pretty good that morning. She kept chewing on her little toy which kept her from crying. Luke, who learned things and grew faster, was rocking back and forth of his hands and knees. Annabeth was trying to get him to crawl towards her.

Annabeth patted the ground in front of her. "Come here, Lukey. You got it."

Luke flopped down on the ground. Annabeth gave a lighthearted sigh. She picked him up and showered his face with kisses before setting him back down on the ground. He rocked back and forth again on his hands and knees.

After another minute of anticipation and Annabeth giving encouraging words, he lifted his little hand and moved it forward a few inches and set it down in front of him. He made it about a foot before flopping back down.

Annabeth grinned and picked him up again, smothering him in kisses. Luke giggled and smiled. "Good job baby!" she exclaimed. "Percy, did you see him?!"

Percy laughed, "Yes, I saw him." Percy picked up Luke in addition to Silena (who did not look happy to have to share her space with her brother) and gave him a small kiss on his forehead. "Good job, Lukey."

Annabeth gently took Silena from Percy and set her down in between them. "I wonder if she can do it too."

Silena just sat there, focused on her teething toy. Once she realized no one was holding her anymore, she began to whimper.

Annabeth scooped her back up, Silena stopped crying. Annabeth kissed Silena, "That's okay, mommy still loves you. Some people just mature slower. Your daddy didn't mature till he was 17."

"Hey!" Percy refuted.

"Oh be quiet you know I'm right," Annabeth laughed.

"Okay maybe you are, but still hurts." Annabeth kissed him on the cheek. "You're giving out lots of kisses today," Percy noted.

"Well only to my babies and husband, but I'm in a good mood," she shrugged.

"I'm glad you are." Percy leaned over to her and gave her a more sincere kiss.

"We should go get ready," Annabeth said, standing up.

"Fine with me."

Percy's POV:

Percy stood with Annabeth, Silena, Luke, and unnamed baby #3 outside the apartment door of his mother's house. He knocked on the door. A few seconds later he heard a voice coming from the inside saying, "Coming!"

Sally Jackson opened the door with a smile on her face. "Percy, Annabeth! Come in."

They stepped into the home where Percy was quickly embraced in a tight hug from his mother. "Happy Mother's Day, mom," he smiled. Percy pulled away and handed her a bouquet of flowers.

"Aw, thank you Percy," Sally smiled. She turned to Annabeth and gave her a warm hug as well.

"Happy Mother's Day, Sally," Annabeth greeted, returning the hug.

"I could say the same to you now," Sally grinned. "Come sit on the couch with me."

Sally took Luke from Percy, kissed his forehead, and set the bouquet down. Percy frowned at the sudden emptiness in his arms, so he took Silena from Annabeth. In his mind, she got to carry the newest baby around, so he could carry Silena.

They sat down on the couch together and Sally started talking. "So, how's the new baby doing?"

His mother already knew about the brain damage problems with the baby. He wished he could give a better answer, but it had stayed the same.

Annabeth answered for them. "Nothing has changed with him or her. We saw Will a few days ago and he said it looked the same. Downside is that it isn't getting better, but it's not getting worse," she sighed.

"Well at least it's not getting worse," Sally said, trying to be optimistic.

"Luke started crawling today," Percy added.

Sally gasped, "Did he really?!"

Annabeth smiled and nodded. "He's a pretty fast learner."

"Has Silena?" Sally asked.

"No," Percy said, "but she is already teething."

Sally smiled and gave Luke a small kiss. "Perfect, they each get their own little area to shine in."

Silena sat on Percy's lap in her fluffy pink dress. Annabeth had a thing for putting her in big dresses, he didn't know why but he thought it was adorable. She looked ready to fall asleep. Her teething toy had been put away for a minute and was replaced with her pacifier. She leaned slightly against him with her eyes drooping slowly. Percy thought it was the cutest thing he'd ever seen.

"How has your morning been, Sally?" Annabeth asked.

"Oh it was wonderful. Estelle even made me a card. Her and Paul are out bringing lunch back by the way," Sally said.

"That's nice," Annabeth smiled.

"It is."

Annabeth reached over to grab Silena, but Percy leaned away. Annabeth frowned, "I want to hold her."

"But she's asleep," Percy noted.

"I can hold her while she sleeps," Annabeth stated, crossing her arms.

"Well look at her." Silena had changed position and was now curled up on her side. She was snuggled into his chest and the crook of his arm. Her pacifier was half-hanging out of her mouth. She also drooled slightly on his arm.

Annabeth sighed, peering over at her. "Okay fine, that's really cute."

"You two look exactly alike," Sally remarked. "She is like a copy of you when you were a baby."

Percy gave a short laugh. "Maybe just a little bit."

"How is she doing anyways?" Sally asked, staring at Silena.

"She's been the same," Annabeth said, twisting her hair. "She gets less nightmares now and sleeps a little better, but the poor thing has terrible separation anxiety. If anyone who she doesn't recognize well holds her, she'll start crying."

"Well maybe she will end up being more of a homebody," Sally said.

"I'd be fine with that," Percy agreed, staring down at Silena. They had heard so many mixed ideas and opinions on her. One god would say she would be more like him, another would say more like Annabeth. As of now, Percy didn't know what to think. The fact she was able to breathe underwater already amazed him, because legacies didn't typically inherent powers. Then again, the only legacies they had seen were Roman, and none of them had one of the Big Three in them.

Part of him didn't think Silena would be like either of them. While she was only a baby, and five months old, he felt like he knew her well enough to know that she probably wouldn't be the most outgoing type. He didn't think there was a single thing wrong with that, just taking note of it.

"I don't think she's going to be the fighting type..." Annabeth said slowly.

Sally cocked her head a bit. "Why do you think that, dear?"

Annabeth ran her thumb across Silena's cheek. "She just seems a little more timid."

"I see that," Sally agreed.

Percy smiled, "I don't have a single problem with that."

"I want to get them started as soon as we can with training," Annabeth mentioned. "I don't want their whole lives to revolve around it like ours did, but I don't want something to come after them when we are gone or something."

"I'm guessing Luke might get there first considering he can already crawl compared to a certain little someone," Percy noted. "But he's a little bit ahead, she's just taking a little more time."

"I see him being a little more of a fighter," said Annabeth.

They continued to talk for a few more hours. Sometime in there, Estelle and Paul came back. Estelle was quite delighted to see them. Much to Percy's sadness, they had to leave. Because they were downtown, Annabeth wanted to see Athena briefly. She also needed to grab some blueprints she left there.

They loaded back into the car and drove a little further to the Empire State Building. Once parked, Annabeth turned to Percy.

"Do you want to come with me or just stay down here with the kids?" she asked.

"I'll go with you. I don't think my dad's here right now but I'll say hi to Hestia," he answered.

"Okay, let's go then." They unbuckled Luke and Silena and carried them into the building. Percy took Annabeth's hand and gave it a small squeeze. While she was perfectly capable of defending herself, New York City was the place you'd want to hold your wife's hand. Even though he had lived there his whole life, he never trusted the people in the alleyways. They walked up to the front desk to the receptionist.

"600th floor please," Percy stated. The man slid a card across the counter to them without looking up. He had probably seen them enough to know that they were demigods.

They walked into the elevator and he inserted the card. It went shooting up fast, which was enough for Annabeth to look sick. "You okay?" Percy asked her.

She nodded. "I just don't like this elevator."

~~~~~
Annabeth's POV:
After reaching Olympus, her and Percy split up. He took Luke with him to see Hestia, while she went to find her mother. She walked through the town, the paved white streets glistening under her feet. The statues still intact, the flowers all around. Only thing was that there was a heavier breeze. She could've sworn that it wasn't there when she was with Percy.
One thing about Olympus is that there was always a slight breeze from all the cloud nymphs and wind spirits buzzing around. This was a steady pace wind, that was never there. Annabeth held Silena a little closer to her. After a minute, the wind got heavier. The sky around her grew dark and she knew something was wrong.
Black fog came seeping through the walls and the ground. Annabeth gasped and buried Silena's head into her chest. She didn't know if this was fog or smog, but she didn't want her baby inhaling it if it was.
The black smoke started swirling around her. She tried to run but it followed her around. Annabeth realized she was trapped in it.
The fog covered the sky till the only thing she saw was a dark grey. It seemed to drift backward slowly, but kept it's concealing shape. She now stood at the edge of a circle that was about 40 feet in diameter.
A figure came emerging from the other side of the fog. They wore all black with a headscarf that fell so low it covered the top half of their face. They held a golden staff in their right hand. Annabeth could've sworn she'd seen that staff before, but she was too disoriented to recall where she had seen it.
The figure reached out their hand towards her. Their palm was faced up as if expecting to grab something.
A feminine voice arose from under the headscarf. Feminine, but dark. "Annabeth Jackson, daughter of Athena. Wife of Perseus Jackson, mother of Silena and Luke Jackson. Slayer of Arachne, bane of Titans and Giants, Hero of Olympus."
"Who are you and what do you want with me?" Annabeth spat, drawing her dagger.
"You can't kill me," the woman stated flatly.
Annabeth froze for a second before continuing to draw her dagger. "Answer my question."
"You already know who I am. As for what I want with you, I ask for little."
"And what is that?" Annabeth asked, waiting for the woman to continue.
"I am here to warn you. Your child is in great danger."
Annabeth sucked in a breath. "Which one?"
"The one that resides in your womb."
"Why?"
The woman lowered her hand and brought it to her staff where she began to trace the pattern of it. "Your child will be quite powerful. It will have many things that will come after them. One wrong move, and you have Titans after your children."
Annabeth stood there shocked. "But I don't understand, legacies aren't supposed to be powerful-"
"Does the child you hold in your hands not carry limits of the power of Poseidon?"
Annabeth swallowed hard and took a step back.
"They don't have strong powers, but yours happens to be different," said the woman.
"But he/she has brain damage-"
"That is what you think, and that is what the gods think. It appears to be that way, because your child is such a rare case. Did you really think a legacy of Athena would be born with brain damage?"
Annabeth used her head a lot, but hadn't thought about that. "So what do you expect me to do?"
"Kill it," the woman ordered.
Annabeth stared at the woman like she was manic. "Di immortales I could never do that to my baby-"
"It's that or get yourself and the child killed!" the woman yelled. Silena started crying from the noise, and the fog. There was a moment of silence between them, nothing heard except for crying Silena. The woman spoke again. "You shall terminate it now, or you can keep it. If you keep it, you give the baby to me."
"Why-"
"I told you why! And one more thing, you may tell no one about this."
Annabeth shifted uncomfortably, "What about my husband?"
"He may not know. Choose wisely, Annabeth Jackson." The woman pounded her gold staff against the marble floor. The wind picked up and the fog started swirling. The woman stayed standing still, the black fog encompassing her. She laughed as the fog came crawling in around her face. "Wisdom's daughter walks alone."
The fog sucked back away from Annabeth. After a few seconds, she stood back in the streets of Olympus, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Everything was the same as when she first came in, except there was no breeze. Silena's cries had softened to a whimper. Annabeth stood stunned.
She shook it off, deciding to think about it later. She didn't want to think about it at all. Annabeth dashed off to find her mother.
As expected, her mother was in her temple. She smiled when she saw Annabeth, and stood up to greet her.
"Hello, dear," Athena smiled.
Annabeth smiled back. "Hi, mom. Happy Mother's Day."
"Thank you, Annabeth. What brings you here?"
"We were in town seeing Sally and I wanted to stop by to see you. I also needed to grab some blueprints I left here," Annabeth explained.
"Well I'm glad you stopped by." Annabeth forced a smile at her mother, which Athena frowned at. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, why?"
"You are fidgeting and look sick," her mother stated.
Annabeth tried to relax her expression. "Sorry, I'm okay. I should get going now though."
"Okay." Athena kissed Silena on her forehead before giving Annabeth a small hug. "Happy Mother's Day to you as well, dear."
"Thanks." Annabeth dashed away to go find her blueprints. She was almost sure she left them in her office (yes, she had an office on Olympus), so she checked there first. Thankfully, they were there. Annabeth grabbed them quickly and headed towards the throne room, anxious to leave.
She pushed open the doors to the throne room. Inside, Percy sat at the hearth with Hestia. Hestia was holding Luke, who was happily playing with the ends of her headscarf. Percy smiled at her and stood up.
"Ready to go?" he asked her, taking Luke from Hestia.
Annabeth nodded eagerly. She said goodbye to Hestia and walked back out of the throne room. Of course, right outside of the throne room was Hera, who was walking into the place.
She had one of her peacocks trailing behind her as she walked, close to stepping on her white dress but never touching. "Annabeth," she muttered under her breath.
"Hera," Annabeth glared, giving a mocking curtsy.
The goddess rolled her eyes and walked past her. Hera sat down on her throne where her peacock nestled up at her feet. Annabeth turned away from the doors but caught her breath and gasped. She turned back around just in time to catch a glimpse before the doors shut. Hera sat on her throne, glaring down at Annabeth, twisting her golden staff.
