Chapter 18
So I talk about headscarves and head coverings in this so just a heads up, I don't mean to offend anyone. This isn't the hijab type either, it's the Greek Orthodox type. So part of it is my own culture.
Nope.
While Jason and Percy were out cold (In the Zeus and Poseidon cabins, they were the closest) the goddesses and their older daughters convened into the Jackson's house. They all sat around on couches and chairs or on the floor leaning against one of those. Respectively, the demigods let the goddesses take the couches and seats first.
Annabeth sat next to her mother on the couch. She was the only one of her siblings that was there. As far as mortals went, Annabeth, Thalia, Piper, Hazel, Clarisse, Katie, Reyna, and Rachel were there. Reyna because she didn't have anything else to do, and Rachel because Rachel. Some of them didn't even have a godly parent in the room, but were comfortable with it anyways. Calypso was with Leo, and she had mixed ties with the gods. Hecate and Hestia had joined them for the day as well.
Annabeth was holding a sleeping Silena, while Athena held Luke. Her mother looked between them.
"Your son will grow up to be like his father, smart like his mother. I see it now. Your daughter however, I am not sure," she said.
"She is a lot smaller than her brother," Hestia noted.
Annabeth sighed, "She's just tiny. About 4.5 pounds lighter than Luke and 4 inches shorter."
"Well do you feed her as much?" Demeter asked.
"I try to, she just doesn't eat as much as he does," Annabeth answered. "She's just a little behind. Poor thing has nightmares already and separation anxiety."
Hecate frowned from next to Hazel. "Let me see her." Annabeth passed her sleeping baby over to the goddess. Hecate closed her eyes for a minute, with two fingers resting on Silena's forehead. She opened her eyes again and gave a sad smile to the baby before passing her back to Annabeth. "Thankfully she didn't inherit the dreams that demigods your age would usually have. As you said, she does have separation anxiety. Her nightmares mainly consist of abandonment and loneliness."
Annabeth stared at her daughter, "Abandonment isn't fun, and it's scary. Even for an adult it still terrifies me."
Aphrodite cocked her head, "What do you mean, dear?"
Annabeth swallowed, "Long story. Forget I said anything. Aside from that, is Hera still crying over this, or is she happy to be alone?"
Hestia gave a small laugh, "She's a little salty but she'll get over herself."
"I've never seen her get over anything," Piper stated.
"You don't lie," Hecate agreed.
"Hera just doesn't like demigods," Katie said.
Annabeth scoffed, "You could say that again." Silena started to whimper from Annabeth's arms. She squirmed and whined, with her eyes closed. Everyone turned to them and Annabeth gave an inward groan. "Nightmare."
Hestia reached her hands out, "Let me see her."
Annabeth passed her baby to Hestia, as told. Hestia held Silena and whispered some ancient greek song. Silena stopped squirming and crying. "How did you do that?"
"Just a ward off evil and to expel Morpheus's works," She answered.
A loud crash came from outside. All of the women looked at each other before rushing to the door. Annabeth flung it open to see Leo and Nyssa running through New Greece, with some Ares kids on their tail. Clarisse grabbed her younger siblings by their neck and ear. Leo and Nyssa stopped running. "What the Hades is happening here?"
"They stole our stuff, including the landmines!" her brother wailed.
Leo panted, "You'd be surprised how hard those are to steal, and we got bored. By the way, the Stolls are getting the rest so you might wanna address that." Katie groaned from behind Annabeth, but Clarisse carried on.
"You, what?!" She shrieked. "How do you even steal live landmines?!"
"They took them while we were setting more," her sister grunted.
"You guys were setting landmines without me?!" Clarisse released her siblings like hound dogs and they went back to chasing Leo and Nyssa. She herself ran off in the direction of cabin 5.
The rest of them rolled their eyes and went inside, sitting back down. Luke had somehow gone to Hestia, because he was playing with the edge of her head covering. Hestia smiled down at him. "Isn't that cute, never understood why boys were always fascinated by headscarves."
"Probably because they don't have to wear them," Rachel shrugged.
"Neither do you, it's a cultural and religious thing," Katie said.
"I have a few but I never wear them, it's not like I have anything to wear it to. The last time was for one of my brother's funerals," Annabeth recalled.
"Which one?" Athena asked.
"Adrian," Annabeth answered, "He passed about a year ago on a short quest, he was only 14."
Athena stayed quiet. Annabeth figured she had probably had forgotten about him, and decided it was smarter to not say anything than to humiliate herself with it.
"Still can't believe you people wear those," Reyna remarked, "it's not like there is much significance to them anymore. Unless, the woman is Muslim and feels called to it as a service to Allah, but none of us are Muslim."
"Because it is tradition," Demeter answered, "the very thing people often forget."
"And really, Reyna? The Romans wore them just as much if not more than the Greeks," Annabeth said.
Artemis scoffed, "I never liked them."
"Same," Hecate said.
"I never had a problem with them," Aphrodite shrugged.
"Same," Athena agreed.
"I always wear one, just because," Hestia whispered. "But you, Annabeth, I have never seen in one."
Annabeth sighed and stood up. She walked upstairs to the spare room and opened the closet with her and Percy's armor. While it wasn't for battle, Annabeth kept it in there. She pulled out a white scarf. She placed it halfway back on her head and let the rest hang over and on her shoulders. Annabeth had different ways of tying it, for example around her head and under her hair, but that felt too Orthodox.
She walked downstairs again where everyone stared. "See? Nothing special."
"I could never," Thalia admitted.
"I could, but wouldn't." Hazel said.
Aphrodite smirked, "Oh please tell me you have coin hip scarves-"
"I do and those will never come out of the closet," Annabeth answered quickly. "And I only ever wore those on Olympus at parties over clothes when dancing Zorba-"
"I'm so lost," Hazel stated.
"Holy Hephaestus, Annabeth, how Greek are you? And when did you go to Olympus for parties?" Piper blinked.
"There's a lot you don't know about me and very Greek. And what happens on Olympus stays on Olympus."
Demeter shivered, "That party lasted two days."
Annabeth took off the scarf and laid it on the couch. "You all act like I'm not American or something."
"No, you just surprise me sometimes," Rachel admitted.
"And don't expect me to wear that again unless someone dies, which hopefully won't happen," Annabeth finished.

Percy's POV:
It was around 3:00 and Percy was at the beach (of course) with his father. After taking a nap, he felt so much better than before. From what he knew, Jason was still asleep. While it was nice to wake up to a peaceful house, that didn't last long after walking downstairs to find all the goddesses and their older daughters in his living room. So, Percy grabbed Silena and walked out the door.
They sat with the tide hitting against their feet lightly. Silena laid on Percy's chest, something she did a lot. She would curl up into a fetal position and fall asleep like that. Currently, she was curled up sucking her pacifier. Her eyes were half-shut like she was about to fall asleep.
"I see now that she will be more timid than your son," Poseidon noted.
"Is that a good or bad thing?" Percy asked.
"Neither good or bad, just a thing. I do think she will still have that bit of your personality in her. I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up like your mother."
"Sometimes I wonder what they will get from us," Percy said. "If legacies can inherit the godly genes."
"Your children are an... interesting combination per say. I don't think anyone would've seen grandchildren of Athena and myself coming. I think your son will be the stronger of the two, he already is. This little one," Poseidon said, staring at Silena, "is a little more unpredictable."
"Do you think they will be able to control the sea or breathe underwater?"
"She can, he can't."
"You... know this?" Percy remarked.
"I can sense it in her. It might be why she is a little more fussy. Having such genes and abilities packed into such a small person could be a bit overwhelming for a baby. Luke will probably gain them later on, similar to how you did. If not, I will bless him with it. Silena, however, already can, but it will most likely wear down slightly as she gets older."
Percy didn't know what to think of that. He didn't really have anything to add to it, so he stayed silent. Silena shifted a bit and stared up at him, blinking her grey eyes. She started reaching for things recently, so she stuck her hand out, trying to figure out what to do with it. She rolled over a bit, where her hand hit his abdomen. Silena didn't know what to do, so she just laid there.
"I was impressed with your fight with Jason," Poseidon noted.
"I could've done better," Percy sighed.
"Maybe you could've, but the object of it was not to kill each other."
Percy shrugged, "Fair point."
"Your wife had guts to jump from that high up, along with the daughter of Aphrodite."
"She doesn't like us sparing like that, neither does Piper."
"She has fair reasons to, Perseus. She has seen what you can do."
Percy wasn't in the mood to talk about that. He swallowed hard, "Yeah."
"Annabeth cares a lot for you, son. She just is worried for you and now that you two don't have to worry about a war, I can tell she just wants to be with you."
"She said something about that the other day to me."
"I like her a lot."
Percy scoffed, "You do?"
Poseidon smiled, "Just because Athena has more mixed reviews doesn't mean that I think the same. She keeps you in check, and has kept you alive. If we are being honest here, I don't like to think of what would happen to you. You'd be dead, or lead off with Kronos or with Calypso. But I like Annabeth the best, she makes you happy."
Percy smiled too, "She does, she's pretty great."
"You must be careful, Percy. You have good intentions, but with the wrong thought of mind, you could be so much more than what you should be."
Percy stared at the water, the nereids gossiping under the surface. "I've had more than one instance with that."
"There is no way to escape it. You are part of me, and I have never always done the best thing. The best thing to do, is to concentrate, and think on why and what you are doing. When it comes down, think more, and feel less."
Percy didn't say anything in return. They sat in silence for a minute or two. The waves lapped the shore, the sea mist spraying his face and blew his hair.
Poseidon spoke again, "I heard that Apollo wants to get all of camp, Romans and Greeks, to come to Olympus for a party."
"Again? And come on dad, when he says 'party' he means 'rave' that will last 48 hours."
Poseidon laughed at his son, "He is Apollo, it's one of the things he does best."
"When does he want to have it?"
"The day we leave, you guys would come with us."
"In the past 3 years I've been to 8 of those parties, all of which ended up with half the people blacked out drunk, someone with alcohol poisoning, or something else."
Poseidon laughed, "Well you're in luck, because you get to make that 9."

Percy walked back through the front door 3 hours later. All of the goddesses and other female demigods were not in his living room anymore, except for Annabeth. She sat on the floor, leaning against the couch. She was breastfeeding Luke, and looked like she was about to fall over.
"Hey," he whispered walking over to her.
Annabeth looked up and gave him a small smile. "Hey."
"It's almost dinnertime, you ready?"
She shrugged, "I'm not hungry."
Percy sighed and walked over to her. He sat down and pulled her into his lap. He set Silena down in front of them. He rested his head on her shoulder and kissed her neck, inhaling her sweet lemon scent.
"You gotta eat, Wise Girl."
"I ate not that long ago," she stated.
"When was the last time you had something to eat?" Annabeth shifted uncomfortably, and moved Luke a bit, staying quiet. "Annabeth, you are the main food source for two people, and they kinda take the fat from you, which you need. You have to eat."
"I'm fine, Percy, promise. I had breakfast today," she argued.
"And what did you have for that? Did you eat lunch?"
"I had coffee and a granola bar."
"Annabeth, really?" He groaned. "You have to eat. We've been through this before."
"I'm fine. I'm just not hungry right now."
Percy frowned. It was true, they had been through this before. When on the Argo after they came back from Tartarus, she had gone through a faze for a few months where she didn't have an appetite. He didn't understand now why she wouldn't eat.
"If you say so. But promise me you will eat something for dinner?" he pleaded.
"I will, promise."
