Chapter 12

Hello! This is a shorter chapter but I the next few I have something very exciting planned. Please enjoy and all rights reserved to Rick except for OC.

Annabeth's POV:

Annabeth knew she had officially moved on the next day, when the ambrosia didn't taste like buttered popcorn. Will had been telling her to have a small amount each day so she could get back to training faster. When she ate it, it tasted like blue chocolate chip cookies.

Percy and Jason were doing something Annabeth didn't care to know, but they called it 'guys things'. So, Piper, Hazel, and herself were in the hotel room. They were all sitting on the bed with the babies in the middle. Luke was asleep of course in front of Piper and Hazel, while Silena was sucking her pacifier with Annabeth tickling her.

"I think Jason and I are going to Malibu tomorrow to see my dad, I haven't seen him in a while," Piper said.

Just my luck, Annabeth thought.

"That should be fun!" Hazel exclaimed. "My mom's long dead and we never had a good relationship but I'm glad that it's working for you two. And Malibu sounds amazing!"

"What about you, Annabeth? Didn't you and Percy go to see your family yesterday?" Piper asked.

Annabeth just continued to play with Silena's feet. She swallowed hard before speaking. "Yeah, we went to my dad's house yesterday."

"How was he? Last I remember you haven't seen him for a while," Hazel recalled.

"He was the same as he has been for the last 21 years," Annabeth stated, trying to move on from the conversation.

Piper gave her a sad smile, "It didn't go well, did it?"

Annabeth shook her head, "...No, it didn't."

"What happened," Hazel asked cautiously, "you can tell us, we're your friends."

"We aren't on speaking terms," she finished.

"...well what happened-" Piper was cut off.

"He didn't tell anyone that he had grandchildren, not even his bitch of a wife. In fact, most of his friends don't even know I exist because he's too ashamed of me. And once again he put his work before his family and simply didn't care. Now I hope you are satisfied with your fill of my personal life," she snapped.

Piper and Hazel exchanged a quick look. Then, they both scooted close to her and gave her a big hug.

"I'm sorry Annabeth, I didn't mean to push you," Piper lamented, sneaking some charmspeak into her voice.

"Same, sorry," Hazel agreed.

Annabeth sighed, "It's okay."

"Did he call you after you left?" Piper asked.

Annabeth frowned, "He never has, but I didn't check." She stood up and walked over to the desk where her phone was charging. Sure enough, she had 3 missed calls and 1 voicemail, all from Frederick Chase. She made the mistake of listening to the voicemail.

Anna Elizabeth, I'm sorry. I wasn't the father you always wanted and I wasn't the father I should have been. I put so many other things in front of you and it wasn't right. I'm sorry for not being as excited as I should have been for your children. I'm sorry for not seeing the way your stepmother treated you and how disrespectful your step brothers were to you. I know you probably hate me and you have every right to. But I just wanted you to know that you have beautiful children and a wonderful husband. You don't have to, but I should be home alone tomorrow and you can come over. It can just be you and me and we can talk and watch our favorite shows again. I feel like I need to make up for everything I didn't do. I get that you may never want to see me again, but I love you, and you will always be my little girl.

She sat back down in the chair with her head in her hands. It was so tempting to go back and just have it be the two of them again. She could be with him and create the moments she always wanted. But Annabeth believed in second chances, and he had been given one too many. She had seen this before, when she first came back home. He stayed the same. She knew he didn't care, he didn't love her. Annabeth had her own family to take care of now. With two children to feed, she couldn't just leave them for the whole day like he did. She blocked his number and set her phone back on the table.

She flopped back down on the bed with Hazel and Piper again. She would move on, and it would've never happened.

Percy's POV:

Percy woke up at 7:30am on December 21st, the winter solstice and more importantly his anniversary. They had gotten back from New Rome a few days ago. Annabeth had said she didn't want to do anything, just stay home and in bed (not in the way he had hoped for). Still, he hopped out of bed.

Percy went into the twin's nursery before he went downstairs just to make sure they were asleep. Sure, they woke up 3 hours ago but you never knew with them. Thankfully, they were asleep.

He started the coffee and began to make blue waffles (they had pancakes the day before). Per Annabeth's request, they would start the day off in bed, but instead it would be with breakfast. Sometimes he wondered why they chose to get married in the winter. Part of it was because they didn't want to spend years engaged and it was a relevant date that was upcoming, but he did think sometimes that a summer wedding would've been nice. Sure they got married inside the borders where the weather was warm, but the season was still winter and it was so close to Christmas.

His thoughts were interrupted by a soft cry of a baby. He rushed upstairs quietly and into the twin's room. Surprisingly, the baby was Luke. Percy sighed and picked him up, hushing and cooing to him.

"Come on, buddy," Percy whispered, "we are trying to let mommy sleep in, okay?"

He just sniffled some more. Thankfully, he wasn't crying loud enough for anyone to be able to hear outside of the room.

He smiled down at Luke. "Thanks, little man."

He glanced back over to Silena, who was surprisingly still asleep. Percy took Luke downstairs with him and held him while he finished the waffles. After a while, Luke fell back asleep, much to Percy's delight. He grabbed two plates with the waffles and put them on a tray with their coffee.

He took it with him back up to his room after dropping Luke off.

Percy placed the tray on the nightstand next to the bed. It was 8:45 now so he figured he could wake Annabeth up. He sat back on the bed and admired how cute she looked. As usual, she had the blankets pulled up around her tightly. Her curly blonde hair was half-over her face, and she laid on her side facing him.

He brushed the hair out of her face and kissed her softly. Annabeth shifted a little bit but stayed asleep. Percy chucked and kissed her again, stroking her hair. This time, she opened her stormy gray eyes and stared up at him.

"Happy anniversary, Wise Girl," he whispered.

"Happy anniversary, Seaweed Brain," she mumbled.

"I made breakfast, just to throw that out there."

Annabeth sat up and looked around, causing him to chuckle. Percy reached over, pulled the tray off the nightstand, and sat it in front of her. She smiled happily and took a sip of her coffee. He ate off his own plate from next to her.

Annabeth didn't take long for her to finish her food, and neither did he. Soon they were just enjoying the quiet, something that didn't get to happen that often.

Percy spoke in her ear, "Do you want your present now or later?"

She gave an exasperated sigh, "Percy! I told you not to get me anything!"

"Well I did so do you want it now?"

She gave a soft smile, "Sure."

He opened the drawer to the nightstand and pulled out a small wrapped box with a bow on top, and passed it to her. "Thanks," she said. Annabeth carefully pulled the bow apart and ripped the wrapping paper. Inside was a small white velvet box. She opened it and gasped.

Percy had actually put great thought into this gift. It was a silver ring with 4 stones on it, a ruby and peridot in the middle, with blue zircon on both sides.

"According to Leo, the silver band was the start of a promise ring that Beckendorf was making for Silena before they died, you two had the same ring size. The 4 stones on it are the birthstones of the twins, you, and I," he explained.

Annabeth's bottom lip shook a little bit. She wrapped her hands around his neck and kissed him. "Thank you, Percy. I... I have no words. That's so sweet of you. I love it," she smiled. She took off her camp necklace and strung it on (her left hand was already occupied), so it sat next to the coral pendant that he had gotten her when they first started dating. He noticed her dad's college ring wasn't on there, but he didn't say anything.

"Well now I have to give you my present," she said.

"So you insisted I didn't have to get you anything, but you already planned on having something for me?" he stated.

She shrugged and passed the box to him. He opened it to find a chain with a matte black trident on it. When he shifted it around, it appeared dark blue. He pulled it out of the box.

"Click it twice," she instructed.

Percy pressed on the trident twice, to find a dagger now in his hands. He smiled and Annabeth continued.

"While I prefer a dagger and you a sword, I still train with my drakon bone sword sometimes- or used to, so I figured you might want one. It's made of Stygian Iron too."

He leaned down and kissed her. "Thank you, Wise Girl, I love it."

Annabeth's POV:

Annabeth and Percy were walking along the beach hand in hand. Thalia said that she wasn't leaving till the new year, and wanted to watch the babies, which Annabeth was thankful for. The sun was setting along the horizon and she kept looking back at it with amusement.

"Did you have a good day?" Percy asked, "I know it was no Paris, France but-"

She stopped him with a kiss. "Yes I did Percy, I had a great day. And not every day is going to be Paris, France."

He gave a short chuckle, "True. But it definitely was one of the best though. Our honeymoon in Greece was pretty sweet too."

"I loved Athens of course," Annabeth said, "but Santorini was prettier, with all the blue roofs and white buildings. Plus the white sand and clear water."

"I thought that was Mykonos," Percy questioned.

"No, we stopped there too. Mykonos has some of that but is mainly just the white, square buildings. When we were on the Argo, that's where we got the Gelato too, remember?"

"Oh," he recalled, "the one with the Pelicans everywhere?"

Annabeth laughed, "Yes, that's the one."

"Sorry, the two kinda blend together in my mind. They look the same to me," He admitted. They sat down in the sand and watched the sunset. Percy laid back in the sand, so Annabeth laid on his chest. He began to play with her curls, twisting and twirling them, watching it spring back into place.

Annabeth just let him, while she twisted the new ring he gave her. The fact it was meant to Silena Beauregard hit her harder. Not to mention the band was made by Charlie. In a way, she felt bad about having it, like she was wearing something sacred. But Annabeth knew that Silena would have been fine with it, all the way down in Elysium. Heck, she probably was married to him down there, and the mortal ring wouldn't be hers anymore.

Apparently, the idea was Percy's. Annabeth didn't give him enough credit for being as smart as he actually was. Sure he lacked the book smarts sometimes and was incredibly dull, but he had the street smarts and common sense, let alone had the idea of her ring. She thought it was so sweet too.

They sat there on the beach for gods knew how long. Before she knew it, the sun was gone and Artemis had made her trip across the sky, where Zoë was now visible. Annabeth felt Percy carry her inside and tucked her into bed with all the extra blankets she preferred. Annabeth stared out the window for a little longer, eyes half shut. She heard Thalia leaving and Percy crawling back into bed with her.

"Bob says hello," she muttered before falling into sleep.

Okay I usually don't do author's notes at the bottom but yes, this was kind of a filler chapter. THE NEXT ONE I HAVE BIG THINGS FOR PROMISE!
