Chapter 1

Hello! This is my first ever fanfic so go easy on me please ;) Art credits go to windbyfire. Fun fact: this story came to me in a dream, so I felt the need to post it. I should have the first 5 chapters posted today and will have the next one up sometime this week. I will try to get the chapters up asap, because I know how annoying it is to wait. I hope you enjoy!

*All rights to Rick Riordan except for my own characters*

*Some mild swearing and mentions of s3x later on*

Percy's POV:

Percy awoke to the darkness of cabin 3 with a gasp and a cold sweat. You would think that being out of Tartarus for roughly 4 years would make the nightmares go away, but alas, no. He looked around the room to find that he was just where he was when he went to bed (that didn't always happen...) and let out a relieving sigh. Next to him was his wife, Annabeth Jackson. She seemed to be fine to him, at least as fine as she could be.

Percy and Annabeth had been married for almost 2 years now. They had wanted a small wedding, but seeing as Aphrodite and Sally Jackson were helping, that didn't really happen. It ended up at Camp Half Blood on Firework Beach with all their friends and loved ones, plus the Olympians and a few other gods (namely Hestia). Little Estelle Blofis was their flower girl with one of Annabeth's younger demigod brothers she favored as the ring bearer (she didn't feel Mathew or Bobby were close enough to her). Grover was best man, Thalia the maid of honor, and Chiron walked Annabeth down the aisle (again didn't feel her dad should be the one) and married them. For once, Athena and Poseidon got along great, and even Hera finally let them be. While they were only 19, they felt it was time and even enjoyed a sweet honeymoon to Greece.

He smiled thinking of the moment and sank back down into his bed (Chiron allowed them to get a double). Now age 21, they lived together at camp. Annabeth was currently designing a New Rome type place at Camp Half Blood, but Greek. They were calling it New Greece to keep it simple. While she had been working around the clock, their own "Family Cabin" was almost finished, and ready to move into. Piper and Jason, Clarisse and Chris, Hazel and Frank, Travis and Katie, Grover and Juniper, Leo and Calypso, and Will and Nico were to all have their own complete with personal touches. While most of them weren't married yet, they would move in after they were. The Jackson's cabin however, was to be done first.

This was because lovely Annabeth, was almost 8 months pregnant with twins. They were certainly a surprise and unprepared for, but seeing as they were married, it felt so wrong to abort them (suggested by Athena and Hera). Percy and Annabeth came to the conclusion that Camp would be the safest place to raise their offspring, especially because the two of them were still in college and didn't have a lot of money to afford an apartment.

All of their fellow demigods were elated when they were informed that Annabeth was pregnant, and even more excited to find out that it was twins. Chiron especially, was delighted by this. After all, it was to be the first Greek legacy born in a very long time, two nonetheless.

Annabeth released a soft moan and turned to Percy, eyes fluttering open. They just layed there for a few seconds, not saying anything in a comfortable silence. She moved closer to him to cuddle, but it was slightly difficult seeing her abdomen was quite large.

"You okay?" Annabeth asked, eyes now shut again.

"Yeah, I'm fine," He answered. "Just another nightmare."

"Tartarus?"

Percy knew there was no point in hiding it. She knew him like the back of her hand. He didn't feel like sharing though, he had enough images of her blind, scared, crying, and starving for one night. He stayed quiet, which Annabeth took as a yes.

She went to sit up to give him a kiss, but quickly gasped as she did, grasping her stomach. Percy saw this and immediately went into overprotective husband mode, something she secretly loved but didn't always appreciate.

He placed a hand on her lower back, the other on her stomach. "What's wrong?" he asked nervously.

Annabeth held her breath for a few more seconds, then released and sighed. "Braxton Hicks, that's all. Nothing that bad."

Percy frowned. She had been put on bed rest (courtesy of Will Solace and his sister Kayla) a couple of days ago because she was already getting these fake contractions more recently. He was worried it was going to send her into early labor.

Annabeth laughed at his expression, and kissed him on his nose. "I'm fine Seaweed Brain, really."

"If you insist," he wasn't convinced. Percy believed that he had a right to not be, he was a hyperactive soon-to-be father. He helped her lay back down into bed and they went back to sleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Annabeth's POV:
Annabeth was worried about her husband. He woke up more than once in the night on average in a cold sweat and panting. She knew it was from Tartarus. While she still got the occasional nightmare from that place, his were coming back... almost as much as their days on the Argo ll. He didn't talk about them much, which made it worse. She recalled him back on the ship explaining his visions to her in silent tears. Percy hated crying, he felt it was a weakness and Annabeth could count on her hands how many times he had cried to her.
She flinched just thinking about it. He just seemed so distant lately. Part of this Annabeth knew was because of the babies. Both of them were nervous about it, but he was worse. She still remembered their conversation they'd had about it.
~Flashback~
Annabeth had just told Percy that she was pregnant. He was overjoyed by the news and made her heart skip a beat when he picked her up and swung her around in circles. But that night, he was so anxious.
"What are you thinking about?" Annabeth asked, playing with his hair.
"Nothing Wise girl, it's fine," He answered, giving his classic troublemaker smile.
"You're lying," She stated. They both knew it.
Percy sighed and sat up on the couch in the Poseidon cabin. He didn't meet her eyes, and his answer to her was so quiet she barely heard it. "...What if I'm not a good father?"
Annabeth was taken back by this. "Why wouldn't you be? You're great with the younger kids here, they all love you, Estelle loves you too. Percy, you are loving and strong in more than one way, so what are you afraid of?"
"I never HAD a dad, Annabeth. I grew up off of Smelly Gabe who beat my mom and I, while my REAL dad never showed his face to me until we did him a favor. And Paul... I love him but he never came into our lives until I was 15, and I wasn't home half of the time."
Annabeth hadn't realized it till now, but her situation was similar to his. Her stepmom hated her, Athena abandoned her, and her dad was never around. The first ever real mother figure to her was Thalia, who ended up a tree and is now more a sister. Finally, she said to him, "It's not like I ever had a mother, but that's okay. There is more than one way to be a good mother or father, Percy. Even so, that doesn't always come from experience. We have all the people around us we need to help us through it. And our experiences won't define how we want to parent this baby. Perseus, you are a good friend, a great son, and a wonderful husband, you got it. And even so, you have me to help."
He was reassured by this and nodded to her, saying nothing. She tilted his chin up to look at her, and kissed him long and hard. They didn't speak of it since.
~End of Flashback~
Annabeth sighed and got out of bed. Percy wasn't next to her, but she assumed the note on the nightstand had something to do with it. She picked it up and read through it:
Wise girl,
I've gone to practice fighting with Jason in the arena. I'm not coming back before breakfast, so I'll see you at the dining pavilion. If you don't feel like walking there, I'll bring you something back :)
Se agapó, Seaweed Brain
She frowned at this. It was only 6:00am, and he had obviously left before this, meaning he got up at around 5:00. He woke up in the middle of the night around 1:00am. Yet another reason for her to worry, he wasn't sleeping. But then why was Jason up this early too? Annabeth decided she would ask Piper about it later.
Just then, another braxton hicks hit her hard. She gasped and sat back down on the bed. She proceeded to curl into a ball on the bed and squeezed herself tight. Annabeth had hoped to go down to breakfast later and be productive, but she decided that maybe that wasn't going to happen.
