The party started journey to the northern base at dawn. Ferdinand and Pandora shared the same horse with Pandora taking the reins while Ferdinand slept behind her. The journey was quieter as Ferdinand was snoozing, the rescued rebels kept quiet too, perhaps they were too tired to speak. But after Ferdinand woke up, Oberon for the first time started asking him questions about his personal life: where he lived, how his mother looked like, what he fears most and so on so forth.

Their arrival at the base was welcomed by the rebels. Ferdinand immediately went to his room to resume his slumber to satisfy the weariness of the return journey itself. He woke up just before dinner time which became much more delightful than the previous nights. Wives were kissing their husbands and brothers embracing their sisters - families and friends were reunited.

At that time, he wondered how his mother was doing without him and whether or not the hunt for the angel-killing boy was still on or that they had decided to move on.

Atlas talked to him again, this time about the plan to go to the Netherworld and rescue Miranda.

"But I just got here," Ferdinand complained.

"Well the faster we get her, the faster this war will end, and the faster you can go home," Atlas replied.

Ferdinand sensed that Atlas was the kind of person who likes things done quickly. The faster the better. Thinking that it would be pointless to argue, he reluctantly agreed.

In his room, Ferdinand's altered sleep pattern prevented him from resting and he just spent the entire time gazing at the ceiling until his eyelids slid down and put him to sleep.

Having eaten breakfast the next day, he gathered his gear opened a portal outside. He looked back one final time at Atlas who gave him a thumbs-up as a wish of good luck before he sets his first steps into the Netherworld.
