We begin in Lyra's world. A world not too dissimilar from our own as we settle in to the University town of Cambridge.

Yet here, things are different to our world. Humans have Dæmon companions, the state is controlled by the Magisterium, and whilst we revolve around the modern, it seems they are stuck in a past era. Zeppelins pepper the skies, motor cars still feel like a novelty and mobile phones are an alien concept.

Though we inhabit her world, Lyra's name has vanished from the lips of those she saved. The memory of her heroics has vanished with her. There is no trace of Lyra Belacqua, and all that remains is a trail of dust.

The Magisterium is an ever dominant figure that rules without resistance, but it is soul destroying. It is up to the young to stop them before it is too late.
