On Nature Calling
On Nature Calling
The sky is aglow with the fire that creates
while the wind lies twisted across the shore
the soft moon hides from the cluttered planet
left to bathe in its own remorse
All must pass through unseen gates
and swim the depths to unknown fates
The beaten path is trod no more
with crumpled leaves in hopeless wait
The sadness of long forgotten souls
cries a song no voice can share
the comfort of a shadow's watch
will vanish with the once pure air
To obliterate and incinerate
will leave our essence ashen gray
We'll dine some time unhappily
in remembrance of what was yesterday
Note: this was from my early days and has a bent of environmentalism and fatalism in it. I still believe today that God gave us this planet in stewardship; it's the only one we've got. But our true home lies in eternity.
