Hello and welcome the 456th episode of the weekly podcast "Unsolved Mysteries and Murders" with me, your host Lincoln Wes! Recording from Missouri. Now for the past few weeks, we've been doing a series called 'Mysterious U.S.A.' where we do a mystery from every state. And now, we're almost done, because today we're in WASHINGTON!

Ok I've been waiting for this episode for a while. I live in Washington so it'll be interesting to see what unsolved mysteries are close to home. I push my earbuds farther into my ears.

We are covering a very strange story today: The Oakfield Blobs. This is a case of  unknown illnesses and unidentifiable substances. Making some people point to aliens. If you are the note-taking type, please take out your pens and paper, because THIS is most definitely noteworthy. On August 7th 1994, at 3 am. Rain began to fall, as if often does in Washington. However residents soon found that the rain was different. They were clear, gelatinous, rice sized  blobs that fell a total of six times over a period of three weeks. By afternoon, on the first day that they fell, many residents of the area had become mysteriously and violently ill. Symptoms including  extreme vertigo, difficulty breathing, blurred vision, and nausea. The symptoms lasted two to three months, and people began noticing that dogs and cats that came in contact with the mysterious 'raindrops' often died. After samples of the substance were sent to AmTest Laboratories ( a private lab) , Tim Davis , a microbiologist found a Eukaryotic cell inside the substance. Eukaryotic cells are complex cells usually found in living organisms. Leaving some to hypothesize that they were jellyfish pieces that had been torn apart by military bombing practice not far away, in the pacific ocean. Now the first person to call in and tell me about the other 2 hypothesizes will get a free poster.
