The Three Kingdoms (Stars of Calamity)

The Night had terrorized the world of Amphibia for a very long time. It ruled over its planet and did whatever it pleased...and the only thing that could stop it was The Prophecy.

Amphibia's chosen ones. The Three Stars.

Well, finally, they had arrived. The Night was in hibernation and it gave them time to prepare and unite.

Cecelia was a Princess back on Earth, but it was more or less a title to make her sound fancy. Despite being royalty, there was very little she could do...but here? She was so much more. She had been living in Newtopia, once again given the title of 'Princess', but she had so much more freedom. Especially with her powers.

Alice had been living in the little town of Wartwood. With her powers, she became Frog Valley's defender and its knight. Cecelia often went to her with everything. They were close...especially since Alice had a little crush on her. Even back in their days of Earth.

But, while Frog Valley and Newtopia were at peace and friends with each other...they were only allied with the Toad Kingdom. They were...hard to reason with at times. A lot of their villagers and warriors didn't fear The Night and often died fighting it.

Thankfully, their new Queen had stopped such a demise. She was willing to negotiate a peace. That peace was Cecelia's idea due to this new Queen being a human.

"You're certain this will work?" Alice asked, taking off her helmet and looking at Cecelia sitting on the throne.

Cecelia nodded. "She's one of us, Alice...and The Prophecy states that all three of us have to vanquish The Night. Common sense will reach her. I know it will."

Alice smiled a bit and sheathed her sword. "I trust you."

Cecelia smiled back before seeing the doors open. She saw two newt guards standing at the edge of each door...as a woman wearing red gladiator armor walked in, with an entire army of toad soldiers behind her. Her face was protected with a crimson helmet.

Alice's eyes narrowed and she put on her helmet, ready to defend the one she cared about the most with all her might.

Cecelia just gulped, finding The Toad Queen rather...intense.

The Toad Queen then walked over, standing before the throne. She stared at Cecelia for a moment before looking at Alice. Then, she took off her helmet to reveal peach skin, pink eyes, and long blonde hair. "What is the meaning of this, Princess?"

Cecelia stood from her throne. "Toad Queen-"

"Queen Katherine, your highness." She introduced, giving her helmet to a toad soldier.

Cecelia nodded and walked over, standing face to face with Katherine. "Of course. I've invited you over to negotiate a peace between Newtopia and the armies of Toad Tower."

Katherine chuckled. "Amusing to think about."

Alice's eyes narrowed and she walked over, standing beside Cecelia and with her hand on the handle of her sword.

Cecelia turned to her. "Alice...calm down."

"I can see your knight is very tense around me." Katherine chuckled. "I must admit, it's...nostalgic to see another human. Let alone two."

Cecelia nodded. "Then, you know that we are the prophesied Three Stars that The Olms tell Amphibia all about. It's why we have the magic that we do."

"I'm aware of this. But, a peace between our kingdoms? Isn't an alliance enough?" Katherine asked, crossing her arms. "If we had a peace, there would just be in-fighting. We are too different from your regal Newts and your knight's farmers."

Alice huffed. "We are much more than farmers."

"I have yet to see proof of that." Katherine said.

Cecelia sighed. "But, you must understand that whether we like it or not, peace has to be achieved...we are all different. All three of us are from an entirely different dimension. But, here we stand, talking about peace. We just have to make it happen."

"And the in-fighting? We can't kill The Night while we are fighting amongst ourselves." Katherine said.

Cecelia's eyes softened. "If we can make peace, it shows it can be done. It could inspire your soldiers and mine."

Katherine hummed. "Inspire my soldiers, you say...?"

Cecelia's eyes were quickly filled with hope. "Yes! And you clearly understand the consequences of what will happen if The Night wins and The Prophecy is not fulfilled...so, do you accept our offer of peace?"

Katherine was silent for a moment...before suddenly smirking. "I accept your offer...on one condition."

Alice grew curious. "And...what would that be?"

"Our armies will unite, Princess Cecelia...but so will our kingdoms." Katherine said suddenly. "Through marriage."

Everyone in the room gasped, toads and newts alike. One of the newts even fainted, with a toad soldier catching them.

Alice ripped off her helmet, throwing it aside as she took out her sword. "WHAT?!?"

Cecelia's eyes widened...and her face reddened to the color of a tomato.

Katherine noticed and smirked. "I see you're not against the idea, Princess."

Alice then grabbed her sword, her hair glowing a bright blue. "You can't marry her!!!"

"And why not?" Katherine asked, raising an eyebrow. "There's nothing here stopping a woman from marrying another woman unlike Earth. I'm royalty and so is she."

Alice quickly tried to think of some kind of a reason. "B-because...umm...because you...!"

Katherine's eyes then widened a bit before grinning. "Oh, I see where this is going...you're challenging me for the Princess's hand?"

Alice's eyes widened and her cheeks reddened. She took a deep breath and stood tall. "I-I...I am!"

Everyone in the room gasped a second time while Cecelia's blush only grew, with her feeling completely immobilized.

"Very well then." Katherine grinned. "We will settle this dispute the way my Toads do...a trial by combat. We will not use our powers and only our skills alone. Whoever wins gets both armies...and Princess Cecelia as their wife."

Alice stepped closer. "Your challenge is accepted."

"And what of your word, Princess?" Katherine asked.

Cecelia couldn't even form words. She just began speaking a bunch of gibberish, her face still red.

Katherine chuckled. "I think that's clear enough...the challenge will be in one week. I'm generous enough to give you time to prepare."

"Do not underestimate me, Toad Queen."

"I am not...you just need time to fight an opponent like me." Katherine smirked before winking at Cecelia as she left with her army.

Well. We all know how that fight ended. It just had quite the unexpected turn for The Toad Queen...and I don't mean her loss in the battle.
