Nightmare (Marcanne)
COMFORT
Marcy and Anne had been together for quite a while, and it had been 10 long years since their adventure in Amphibia.
...that wasn't to say though, that they forgot about it. They would never forget Amphibia. Even the horrible, horrible parts of it.
"A...Anne...?" Marcy whispered, gently shaking her girlfriend. "Y-You awake?"
Anne made a small pouty face as her eyes forced themselves open. "Mar-Mar...it's 5 in the morning...we still have time to sleep..."
Marcy quickly felt guilty and laid back down beside her again. "Sorry. Sorry."
Anne then turned on her side, hugging Marcy and cuddling her with her eyes still closed.
Marcy suddenly clutched onto Anne...sniffling?
Anne's eyes opened fully at that. "Marcy...?" She whispered, looking up to see Marcy had tears in her eyes.
Marcy wiped her eyes, looking guilty for waking Anne up, but she still held onto Anne tightly...as if she was going to disappear.
"Whoa, whoa. Marcy, what's wrong?" Anne asked, sitting up and holding Marcy in her arms. "D-Does something hurt...?"
Marcy shook her head. "I-It's nothing. It's nothing important."
"Mar-Mar." Anne said with a soft voice, wiping away the small amount of tears from Marcy's eyes. "Please. Tell me."
Marcy then hugged her again. "...I-I had the nightmare again..."
Anne's eyes widened and she held Marcy even closer. "Which one...?"
Night terrors were uncommon for them all. Even Sasha had some. It had been 10 years, yet the haunting experiences they did have in Amphibia alongside the best ones would not leave them be.
"Y...You d-died...when y-you used all the Stones and...and...!" Marcy closed her eyes, recalling the pain and sorrow she felt when Anne faded away into nothing but leaves.
Anne quickly started rubbing Marcy's back. "Mar-Mar...it's okay...you can cry...it's gonna be worse if you just keep it in..."
Marcy didn't hesitate and let herself cry softly, clutching Anne's back just so she wouldn't disappear right in her arms. Even if it happened so long ago, it still hurt.
Anne just kept rubbing Marcy's back in circles, gently whispering kind words into her ear before she spoke aloud again. "I came back to you, Marcy. Didn't I?"
Marcy nodded, wiping her eyes. "W-With the help of a godlike b-being, heh...that's what y-you told me. I-I geeked out."
"Exactly." Anne smiled. "I came back and now look at us? We're living a happy life, even if we can't go back to Amphibia. And I truly believe that we will someday."
Marcy smiled. "Y...You always know what to say to make me feel better, Anna-Banana."
"Comes with all the heroic speeches." Anne joked. "And truth be told? I...I still have nightmares when you got...y-you know."
Marcy nodded, nuzzling her girlfriend. "I know."
"Y-You still have the scar, don't you...?" Anne asked a bit nervously.
Marcy turned around and lifted the back of her shirt a bit, only to show off that the scar caused by being stabbed by Andrias was still there.
Anne giggled a bit, although it was weak. "T-Thought so."
"I kinda like the battle scar." Marcy giggled as she laid back down, cuddling Anne.
Anne wrapped her arms around Marcy. "How come you and Sasha get cool scars to show off?"
"It's not like we wanted them." Marcy laughed. "Blame the crazy scythe wielding old people inside my head."
Anne snorted and laughed. "You goof." She then kissed Marcy's lips briefly before closing her eyes. "We still got a while before I gotta work. I'm gonna get some shuteye."
"Will do." Marcy whispered.
