Born in Russia, her mother died giving birth to her, so she was mostly raised by her father, who worked for the Russian government. When she was four, she met Danny Ivanova and began living with her, to prepare for life in America, as part of a spy mission their parents were assigned to. When Mae was five, the family, now known as the Lewis family, moved to Felicity Valley, Massachusetts. The family would live there for the next ten years.
