Weapon: Crystal Rose- A bladed sansetsukhan, or three sectioned staff. The staff normally is a simple staff, but with the press of a button can extend a spear blade. If Ryu presses a different button, the staff will break into three sections, connected by a chain. The first and middle section become pistols in this form, while the final section retains the blade from the spear.

Semblance: Warpath- Ryu has above average strength and speed compared to average huntsman. His Semblance also lets him use most weapons with at least some degree of skill just by picking it up. The main function of Warpath is increases to speed, strength, reaction time and other abilities relating to combat. Warpath is considered to be a powerful Semblance because it continuously improves the user, and continues to grow stronger with the user. If Ryu is in a drunk or intoxicated state, he will not be able to use Warpath. In addition, Warpath is a passive Semblance.

Backstory-Ryu grew up in a nice neighborhood, with his best friend Azure Rose. They were childhood friends, and while she helped him with anti-faunas bullies, he helped her feel cared for when her parents neglected her. She was the one who built him his weapon, which is why he gave it the name ' Crystal Rose.' Originally, he was going to apply to Atlas, but applied to Beacon to go with Azure. However, once they arrived at Beacon, Ryu watched as Azure developed her feelings for Qrow. He was the one to always console her as Qrow crushed on Summer. Eventually however, Qrow realized his feelings for Azure, leaving Ryu alone. Despite his popularity at the school, he didn't want to date anymore, and after graduating, he began to travel the world. Every so often, he lets his friends know he's still alive, but other than that has lost touch with them entirely. In his travels, Ryu has learned many skills and gotten much stronger. His reputation has spread, to the point the entire world knows of a mysterious traveler who goes village through village, helping those in need.
