Semblance: Spoils of War- Whenever Kazumi defeats someone or something in battle, a card is created from it due to his aura analysis of the defeated opponent. This card contains the information of the opponent he just defeated. By using the cards in combination with his Slash Driver, he can use the power stored in the card for himself, though the card eventually runs out and fades away when he doesn't have any power left in it. He can get the card back if he defeats the same opponent again.

The cards can contain anything about the opponent. For example, if they had a unique fighting style, the card will have the information so Kazumi can use it. If the opponent had a unique set of armor, the card copies the information of it to be used later. Or, if the opponent had a Semblance which gave Kazumi trouble, the card can store that information. This even applies to Grimm, with the cards being able to copy things like poison. His opponent doesn't lose his Semblance, or abilities however.

Weapon: The Slash Driver may appear to be a simple belt, however it is far from that. Created by Kazumi, it is meant to be the next step in the evolution of huntsman and huntresses around the world. Originally, it was an Atlas prototype which was deemed too dangerous to be used, however Kazumi found it and began to upgrade and modify it, and he managed to perfect it in the end. The Slash Driver works by the user of it cranking on the belt of it. When the belt is cranked, it starts a chemical reaction inside of the belt, which releases a substance called Nebula Gas.

Nebula Gas is synthesized from the essence of Grimm. When injected into a human, it can have awful results, such as insanity, death or life long illness. However, when injected in the perfect amount, or into someone who has enough aura to survive the process, the results can be most beneficial, and result increase to speed, strength, durability and reaction time. The Gas has addictive properties however, as it is in essence a drug.

Kazumi modified his Slash driver so that it can read the cards which are created by his Semblance, so he can bring out the full power of them, and due to the systems in the Slash Driver, Kazumi can combine multiple powers at once, such as the speed Semblance of one huntsman with the strength Semblance of another, though doing so is strenuous for him. The driver can find ideal combinations, and when one is found, it will declare it as a ' Best Match' for his convenience.

Backstory:After the war with Salem, Emerald and Mercury felt genuine regret for the role they had played in enabling her plan, and so the two of them turned themselves into the Atlas Military. Due to them turning themselves in, giving up names of the other people in the organization who were guilty, and helping when they could, as well as their dark pasts, the judge gave them a five year sentence, instead of the life sentence they were originally going to be issued.  During their time in the prison, they became closer with each other, getting to know each other on a much deeper level than they had before.

It was during this time when the two of them began to explore the feelings they had for each other. The two of them always had a back and forth dynamic with each other, but it had always been more playful. After their time in prison, they were able to fall in love with each other, and the first thing they did when they were out of prison was to have a child with each other, and begin a relationship, which they were able to do. While they were effectively on home arrest ( they couldn't use their Semblances, had to turn in all weapons, had routine checks with the police) they built a happy life with each other, and with their child who would be named Kazumi Sustrai, keeping Emerald's last name due to being conceived out of wedlock.

Kazumi was happy smile, looking up to both of his parents, and being there with them every chance he had. He did always have a little bit of a temper, but neither Emerald or Mercury were all that concerned, figuring he would grow out of it like they had when they had been his age. However, things quickly got worse when he went to his first school. He was the only one there who's parents had been criminals, and who had been born out of wedlock. The kids taunted him relentlessly for it, and because Emerald had stolen from most of the teachers at one point, they didn't care when Kazumi reported the kid.

One day, a kid was making fun of Mercury for being a cripple, and Kazumi snapped. He beat the kid, giving him a broken nose and a black eye. This began Kazumi's addiction to fighting, both hurting someone and being hurt in some ways excited him, and it was new to him. His excitement only grew when his Semblance gave him a card, and a power for having won the fight.

Despite the best efforts of Emerald and Mercury, Kazumi and his addiction to fighting grew and grew. He tried to keep it legal for the most part, but he did fight under the table in fight clubs, just to have challenges and new opponents all the time. It was at one of these clubs where he was able to find a Slash Driver, and he took it home with him to help him in his fights.

When the time came, Kazumi did manage to be accepted into Beacon, in large due to his fighting prowess, and he went, both to make the world a safer place and to have more fights and challenges.
