Weapon: Upon coming to Beacon, Gold had no weapon since he wasn't smart enough to build one at his old academy. He relied on his natural strength. But when he began to become friends with Data, she built him a weapon she could use, even with his size. The weapon she gave to him was a pair of gauntlets, which he could also combine into a mace. 

Semblance: Gold struggled to unlock his Semblance. But when he did, he thought it was worth the effort right away. His Semblance, as he likes to call it, " One For All" lets him increase his strength, speed and reaction time as long as he's fighting for someone other than himself 

Backstory: Other than the strength which came with being a gorilla faunas, Gold had no special talent. He wasn't smart or a gifted fighter. But he worked hard to become one,spending all his time working and trying to be stronger. Gold didn't let anyone or anything deter him from his dream. Even when he was held back before going to Beacon, he kept working until Ozpin noticed his potential and let him in early.
