Chapter 33

"Your N.E.W.Ts are fast approaching, and the staff would like to give students something to celebrate for their final year of Hogwarts," said Professor McGonagall, capturing the attention of all the students immediately. "We have organised a Summer Ball, for those who wish to attend it, on the final Friday evening of the year. Buy your dress robes and find your partners!"

Professor McGonagall resumed her seat and the hall broke out into chatter. I looked over my shoulder. Draco was looking particularly excited, and he caught my eye with a smirk before turning to his friends. I knew he planned on asking me to the ball, and I wasn't going to decline.

"I guess Draco's asking you," grinned Ginny. I turned back to her and nodded.

"Are you going to ask Luna?" I asked, although I was sure I already knew the answer.

"Oh, yeah!" Cried Ginny, looking a little dazed. "Forgot about that." She turned in her seat, stood up, and yelled across the hall, "Oi, Luna!"

Luna stood up, eyes wide. "What?" She called back.

"Do you want to come to the ball with me?" Asked Ginny. Most of the school was now watching their hall-wide conversation, and some people had started to laugh at the delay in Luna's answer.

"Ooh! All right then," she smiled. There was a cheer from the Gryffindor table as Ginny sat down, red-faced from the onlookers, but grinning all the same.

"That went well," I observed, smiling.

"Well, I don't mess around," said Ginny proudly. "Come on. We've got dress shopping to do."

A week later we were in Hogsmeade with Luna, trying on dresses in a small dress shop on the high street. Most of the Hogwarts girls were in there, but luckily, because the N.E.W.Ts were so close at hand, a lot of people were at the castle, studying, which gave us plenty of time to choose our dresses.

I'd been studying non-stop over the past few months, but Ginny had finally persuaded me to join her and Luna in Hogsmeade. Apparently, I needed a break. I had to agree - I'd been cooped up in the library most days, and hadn't even been spending much time with Draco, telling him I'd been too busy studying.

Ginny and Luna went in to find dresses first, and I sat on one of the small chairs by the window, waiting for them to appear from behind the curtains. Ginny came out first, looking a little flushed but pretty happy in a black suit with a waistcoat that suited her perfectly. I had to laugh, but told her it was perfect.

Next was Luna's turn. She came out beside Ginny, wearing a beautiful yellow and blue dress that looked perfect alongside Ginny's suit. I praised them both and then Ginny shoved me into one of the booths, informing me that "If you don't choose something nice then I'll pick for you."

Inside the booth, there were racks and racks of dresses to choose from. I wondered how I'd ever pick one, and decided that, considering I'd be going to the ball with a Slytherin, that green would probably suit me. So, when I came out of the booth wearing a green ballgown, Ginny cheered so violently and Luna clapped so happily I thought I might fall through the floor.

With our dresses purchased, we headed to the Three Broomsticks for butterbeer and food, when, just as we approached the door, we literally bumped into Harry, wearing black robes and looking pleased.

"Harry!" I said delightedly, hugging him. "What are you doing here?"

"Good news," he grinned, pushing his glasses further up his nose. "We've captured your three death eaters, and Lucius Malfoy. They're all back in Azkaban, hopefully for the rest of their lives."

I smiled broadly. Harry narrowed his eyes at the three of us, and asked, "What are you all doing here, anyway?"

"Dress shopping," answered Ginny promptly. "There's going to be a Summer Ball this year."

"After the N.E.W.Ts," added Luna. Harry raised his eyebrows.

"Found people to go with, then?" He asked.

"Yes, Harry," I said exasperatedly. "The only person who had difficulty finding a partner was you."

Ginny and Luna laughed, while Harry pretended to be offended. We waved him goodbye and he apparated into thin air, leaving us to enjoy a cosy afternoon in the Three Broomsticks.

Hey guys! I've decided that this book will finish at 40 chapters, plus an epilogue! I'm currently writing another Dramione story called Let Love Bloom, you can see the cover down below. It'll be published once this story is finished, but thank you for reading and voting on this story!
