I spun on my heel, and tried to smoothly slide across the floor of the Science classroom, but my shoes kept sticking to the floor. I laughed as I, once again, slid to a stop long before Jordan slid to a stop behind me.

I looked behind me at Jordan, who slid across the floor again effortlessly, laughing at my attempts. Before I had time to make a smartass remark, Jordan ran forward and caught onto my wrist. 

I flinched, out of habit, and almost pulled my wrist away before I remembered who was holding it and saved myself just in time. Jordan, luckily, didn't notice my slip-up. Which was how I wanted it to stay. She pulled on my wrist, and I smiled and let her drag me by my wrist back to our seats. 

As Jordan was dragging me, I noticed that Paige was watching from the other end of the classroom. She caught me looking at her and formed a heart with her hands, centered around me and Jordan. Then she swayed her hips and mouthed the words to that child's play rhyme about kissing. I rolled my eyes and flipped her off when no one was looking, but inside, my heart danced at the idea of Jordan and I together. I felt her grip on my wrist and sighed in contentment. Her hand was warm and safe and it felt so right locked around my wrist. 

Later, as we were recording some of our data for our experiment, Paige came over to our table. While Jordan was busy copying what I had already wrote down, Paige whispered, "So, you like Jordan?" There was no point in denying it. It was pretty obvious, even to Amber, who didn't even pay attention to those things very much. I nodded my head to say yes. Paige squealed softly and said, "I knew it! You guys would make such a cute couple."

Paige left our table then, and went back to her own. I thought about what she said for days afterward. She was right. Jordan and I would make a really cute couple.

I just wished that Jordan wanted to be my other half, too.
