Another dip, a silent rip. My heart slowly ripples to the screams of hushed fear. There are thousands of minuscule particles living inside of me and I can't help but feel the terror of being extinct in the eyes of these spectators.
Slowly, I move towards the shore where friends of mine for years have a hangout.
"Hi," I greet them with a passive tone. And I flew away.
Waiting for my comeback, they slowly whispered as another foot left an imprint on their wet canvas.
"You look sad today, what happened. Was the wind too harsh on you?"
"No, someone took another dip in me."
"Oh boy."
I slowly rolled back into the blueness.
I hear a shift somewhere. I guess the tide is high today. But no, I believe I heard a heartbeat. A distant echo into the deep. Fear. An emotion I am well aware of.
Pushing against the breeze, I waved myself through the ripples to find a lonely turtle with a new style of dressing wrapped around his neck.
"You seem to be in distress..." He didn't let me complete.
"Yes, yes, I am. I can't breathe."
"I don't know how to help. Swim yourself to the shore where those two-legged species who destroy my body might take pity on you and help."
"I am not sure if I can swim."
"I will help you."
With all my might, I carried the poor creature to the shore. His heavy breaths, breaking my heart.
The moment they saw the hard-backed creature, they gathered around to pick and help him out of the misery. Yet, they forgot to recognize the glaze on my skin was my tears, pleading for help.
Ruffling back along with the wind, I lazily rested until I heard another soft slosh and this time, the hard splash ripped my calm surface. As the wind steadied my pace, I gathered strong companions and rose from the ground to a ginormous height and crashed into the shore where the laughter's and jokes died instantly. Swimming away, I gathered more companion and crashed into the waves angrily multiple times until I wore myself out.
After a few minutes, when the shore was empty of two-legged species, I calmed down. Breathing hard after such sudden exertion.
By then, the time was close to midnight and the vast sky smiled empathically at my tired face.
But as the sun rose to wake me up from my slumber, I could count many more unwanted specimens swimming with my children.
Sighing hard, I... lay dead awake.
