Adelaide painted a picture with her own blood once. Never again did she self harm because directly after that Jane died. And that made her the eldest. Out of the three triplets, she was born first. And Sarah had her own issues.

So that made her, if, god forbid, something happened to zella, the person who would have to take care of all her siblings. Even though she knew sarah would help. So would everyone else.
