Honest to whoever the hell is up there, Lucie and Laura had no plan. Once they were a bit away from the building, Lucie asked "Where are we going?"

"I don't know." Laura answered honestly after a few seconds. "Well, wherever we go, at least I know I'll be with you." Lucie smiled, optimistically. "Nothing really bad can happen if we're together, right?"

Laura smiled and took Lucie's hand in her own. "That's right, Lulu."

So, they continued through the woods, silent. What would their parents think when they woke up? Would somebody come after them? What then? What would they do then?

"I think we should find somewhere to sleep. We'll be fine, we're far away, we should be fine." Laura said. "Okay. I trust you." They set down their stuff and fell asleep, albeit after awhile. Or, more accurately Lucie did. Laura couldn't let herself sleep. Somebody had to look out for the two of, protect the two of them, and it sure as hell wasn't gonna be Lucie. So, Laura assigned herself that role.

Nothing bad could happen if they were together. 

And Laura wouldn't leave her best friend for anything and she knew Lucie wouldn't leave her for anything. All they had was each other and that's all they would have forever. And you know what? They were fine with this reality.
