Varvara parked her car outside the Delaney's store. She had the next two days off, Danny and Mae would be at school and Sergey was in the city today. Why not get some wine? She set her purse on the seat and pushed open the door, hearing the ring.
"Hey Vivian, how are you doing today?" Hector asked, setting down the paper he was reading. "I'm doing great, just alone today and I can only watch Mean Girls so many times." She chuckled to herself. The two adults were silent again as she walked through the aisles. She found herself some fine wine and grabbed herself two bottles, walking up to the counter.
"Hey, me and a few friends are gonna have a bonfire party in a couple weeks. Do you maybe want to come?" Hector offered, taking the bottles. "Maybe. I'm just not a huge fan of fire." The blonde replied, shrugging.
"May I ask why?"
"My sister died in one a few years ago."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."
"No, it's fine, no need to apologize. It's been ten years, give or take, Danny wasn't even around then, so I've almost forgotten about it." That wasn't a total lie. She still thought about it often, it's just once she found Danny and started taking care of her, she found herself not thinking of it almost every minute. "Well, if it makes you feel any better, would you like the 'sorry your sister died in a fire' discount?" The Irish man offered with a smile causing Varvara to laugh. "Are you serious or?"
"Very much so. You can so no, Viv." Hector laughed with her. "You know what, I'll take it. How much off would that give me?" She pulled out her credit card. "Ten bucks." He took her card and swiped it, applying the discount.
"Thanks Hector, you have a wonderful day!" She smiled as she left the store.
