Stevie was laid on the couch, bored and mindlessly flicking through channels. Damnit! Midsommer Murders wasn't on until half past three and it was only one o'clock!

"Stevie~" Jay hummed.

Stevie had been living with her best friend Jay for quite some time now and Jay left around eight o'clock and hadn't been back since.

"Jay, who did you kill?" Stevie turned to her as she walked in.

"Wh- Nobody!"

"You never get up this early!" Stevie crossed her arms.

Jay sighed and held up a over carrier,"This. This is what I've been doing, Stevie."

Stevie gasped,"You got another pet!"

"Technically, I guess. This one's for you, actually. I got you a cat." Jay handed Stevie the carrier.

Stevie excitedly undid the latch to the carrier and inside was a tiny, black and white cat with yellowy-amber eyes, torn ears and a stub tail.

Stevie scooped him up,"Jay, I love him! Does he have a name?"

Jay nodded,"The shelter gave him a tag and everything."

Stevie checked the name tag on his collar,"Toad... What a cute name!"

"I know, right?"

"Meow!"

Stevie gasped and nuzzled him,"Aw, he's so cute! I love him! Such a good baby."

"Mrow.."

"He's actually full grown, Stevie." Jay chuckled.

"He is? Oh, I'm sorry Toad." Stevie apologized,"He's, uh, just so, y'know, tiny."

"Yeah, I got a short one so you wouldn't feel alone." Jay smiled, a smug look on her face.

Stevie was silent,"... I will accept your gift but I'm not talking to you for the rest of the night."

"Stevie, wait-"

"No." Stevie walked off towards her room,"Let's go, Toad. We need to prove that we are superior."

"Meow!"
