i have confused myself with my own characters so here's me figuring out how my own stories work

samantha was raised in a cult, her and her older brother jason escaped when she was 15 and jason was 18. they both ran to the same small town (which is yet to be named due to my laziness) and rent a small apartment there. when samantha has just turned eighteen, jason is killed in their apartment while they were at school. after she finds his body, their apartment is turned into a crime scene, so they temporarily move into clover's apartment.

clover and samantha are classmates, they're friends but not best friends. however, clover appreciates the company and could always use some more money to pay the rent, plus they feel bad for samantha. clover has lived in the small town for as long as they can remember, and they were raised by their abusive grandparents ever since their parents left. they got legally emancipated at fourteen and have lived on their own ever since, barely scraping enough money together to pay the rent.

aurora is clover's best friend (and later, their girlfriend). aurora is from the same small town, but her parents have put her in beauty pageants from a young age, so she travels a lot. she lives with her parents.

josephine was born in england, her and her father moved to the town when she was fourteen, after her mother died. she has been in an abusive relationship with chris since she was fifteen, and is currently 20 (she's young for her academic year) and studying to become a doctor at a local university.

ivy is josephine's roommate and best friend.

kate immigrated from ireland at a young age, with her parents and her cousin brendan. she is very caring and outgoing.

brendan is a menace to society.

cecilia lowe comes from an upper class family in new york city. she's a drama queen, whose family puts pressure on her and her brother, elliot, to succeed and to maintain their flawless image. however, cecilia loves the drama and her parents are scared that it is only a matter of time before she creates a controversy that will damage their reputation.

reagan and chloe are cecilia's neighbours and best friends.

diana is cecilia and elliot's cousin. she was kicked out by her mother for getting pregnant as a teenager and now lives with her daughter, robin in the lowe household.

now time for the brits

jordan is valerie's older sister. they come from a very upper class background, but their parents were often working and the two were emotionally neglected a lot, especially valerie. jordan was always a problem child, so their parents gave more attention to her and just assumed that everything with valerie was fine.

august is jordan's classmate. they met while on the debate team together and they have a frenemies relationship. rayne is august's younger sibling.

eden and avery are sisters from canada. eden loves fire and avery loves women.

auriella (auri) is french. she's dating liana.
