Maddox's greatest fear is death - specifically, his death. He hates himself for his cowardly sense of self-preservation but he can't help himself. The thought of dying, of being killed absolutely terrifies him. Despite that, though, he's been known to perform (ill-fated) acts of extreme bravery that put his own life at risk.

His second greatest fear is the dark, due to a traumatic incident he went through in his adolescence.
