Explaination:Arla possesses the ability to extract and manipulate nightmares, thus curing the one affected of them.she can extract a strange dirty thread from ears and mouth, which is the physicial incarnation of nightmares. These threads became able to expirience feelings and merge into a ball. This ball, which she named Roxie, could move by itself, open locks, and constantly made a low steady hum. Arla can also give back nightmares using the threads, with the power to make them worm back into people's ears.

This was Arla's second loop. Her first loop was in the 70's, but it only lasted a couple decades. Her first loop had hundreds of kids who were all abused by their ymbrene, Miss Kestrel, so a nightmare manipulator came in handy in their loop. Arla was loved by the children because of her peculiarity and she loved the kids and tried to protect them from Miss Kestrel. There were only two kids older than her, two 17 year olds called Niamh and Eoin. When they had to leave there loop, out of 414, only Arla, Niamh and Eoin surrvived. Arla hated herself for it. She hated that, despite the low chances, she survived. She hated how she was no where near as helpful as she was in her previous loop, especially since Niamh and Eoin were able to help all the time- way more than they ever did with Miss Kestrel in Northern Ireland! It was so unfair! She felt like she had everything taken away from her. No more 400 odd kids to take care of and protect, no more walks in Belfast (even though she faced the risk of getting bombed), but most of all little to no nightmares. The whole point of her existance, ruined! Just because she failed to protect the kids, her kids, dead. She couldn't help the children she spent years protecting when it came to hollowgasts. Out of everything that could of happened to her, she was pissed that the day Miss Kestrel decided not to be home to reset the loop, crashing the loop and destroying their house, was the day the hollows found them, with their fucking wights trailing behind them.
Now she feels alone, and despite being in Miss Peringrine's loop since the mid 90's, she still doesn't feel like she fits in, or has a role. She hates Miss Perigrine for being so welcoming, she hates the children who took it upon themselves to become friends, she is even staring to hate Niamh and Eoin for being so quick to warm up to everyone as if they are trying to forget all the kids they could of tried to protect even more, but most of all, she hates herself.
