Country Name; United Mexican States
Human Name; Marià del Carmen Gomez
Human Age; 19
Sexuality; Straight
Gender; Female
Physical Appearance;
Marià has medium brown { naturally black, but dyed brown'} curly hair that reaches to around her waist. She often has it either down or braided. Unlike Spain, who is of european decent and is naturally pale. Marià is of native american and european decent thus causing her to have a light" brown" skin tone. She is curvy, almost a bit on the chubby side, and has a darker brown birthmark on her back. She also has long, droppy eyelashes and big dark brown eyes. She is on the short side, reaching about 5'4.5.
Personality & Interests;
Marià is a lively, expressive individual. She loves parties and other social gatherings. She is also a devoted catholic, who believes deeply in god and spirits. She goes as far as to host a family party for her ancestors by their graves every year, this is known as the day of the dead. She loves to cook as well. She especially loves cooking spicy foods. She, unlike other countries, is very attached to her native american descendants. She often tries to keep some of their traditions alive. Again, day of the dead is one of them. Although she does not like it when people associate it with american halloween, considering american halloween has a completely different holiday and is not even on the same day as day of the dead. Although, she is actually pretty laid back despite that. She is also known to love riding motorcycles and spending time in the country side. If she were to have any other pet peeves it would most likely be the common myth that she is not part of north america. While she does like getting dirty she also loves the feeling of putting on all of the makeup and elaborate clothing. She also knows how to play the acoustic guitar. Another hobby of her's is mexican folk dancing and flamenco dancing. She can also speak some Nahulatl, but not as much as she used to. While Spanish is the obvious main language there is no official language on a federal level. On the downside, because of economic issues, she is often getting sick to the point where she can be bed ridden for up to a week.
Relations;
America-
While many americans do actually look down on her and will often even go as far as assaulting her, Alfred does not mind having her around. He seems to be interested in her, considering he has adapted some of her food recipes and made them his own. He also likes going to some of her parties, if he is not hosting his own of course. Although politically they are somewhat tense considering the fact that a lot of people from her country { northerners specifically} tend to illegally cross over. Despite his boss's attempts to help the children of those immigrants who were born here, the american society as a whole is not very responsive to it and even go against it. Despite the ignorance of american society, Alfred actually seems very close to her, protecting her even. Of course this was after their somewhat brutal battle for land when Mexico was a younger country in 1848.
Spain-
Spain and Mexico are actually rather close despite the war for Mexico's independence. Although much like England and America they were able to look past it. Mexico even aided Spain during the civil war that Spain struggled with. Their bosses often get together and what not, thus allowing the countries to interact more. Mexico sees Spain somewhat as an older brother figure currently. Although back when she was a colony, he had taken advantage of her, promising things and then breaking them which had left her scarred up until the late 19th-20th century.
Cuba-
Mexico seemed to get along okay with Cuba. Although, during this time Cuba was at his worst. The country was a full blown communist and Mexico was still a rather young country. America, who was closer to Mexico would openly express why he disliked Cuba. Because Mexico didn't want to betray America, she kept her distance from him. She also avoided him due to his interactions with the USSR. Although she felt guilty since she had helped him a lot previously, even with his independence and could not help him now. During the cold war she was forced to spy on him for America despite the fact that she supported Havana. Thus keeping many things a secret from both sides. Eventually after the cold war Cuba would begin to dislike her, saying that she was ' too trusting' to America. In present time the two have slowly been rebuilding their relationship.
Venezuela-
The two countries once grew up under the same household, and appeared to have similar goals as they both gained independence from Spain near the same time. Although, as they grew things grew off and on tense. At first, in the early 20th century, Venezuela completely ignored the other country thus causing Mexico to lash out and eventually broke diplomatic relations completely. By the late 20th century they began to have many disputes and then as modern time comes closer Venezuela began to trash Mexico publicly thus destroying their relationship. As of 2015 the two are more netural, though this is because Venezuela's new boss and Mexico's boss began to get along fairly well.
Germany-
For a long time, the two were neutral until WW1 began of course. Germany soon offered Mexico a deal; if United States entered the war, then Mexico could join alongside the Central Powers and if the Central Powers won then Mexico could regain old territory they once had { ie. Texas, Arizona}. Although Mexico rejected the offer and stayed neutral. In WW2 Mexico declared war on Germany after two german U-boats destroyed oil tankers. Afterwards, they remained neutral again.
Misc;
• Mexico also is really into football { soccer}
• Due to growing up with Spain, she did adapt some things from him. Such as bullfighting
• Mexican folklore often contains snakes, as a child she would read these stories over and over again
