Personality:
Teal is rather mad in a sense. He's a true genius and has been since he was young, honestly, he was a child protege. Teal was literally born in the lab and has barely left it during his entire life, this has affected Teal's social skills, making them awkward, lacking and somewhat in need of boundaries but he can come off as sweet when he rambles about his passions, even when they're not very ethical. Teal's passion has always been in biology and gene manipulation, he is often trying things others would never dream of and seems to bounce back quickly whenever he makes a mistake. He is always in need of fresh test subjects and has gotten in trouble more than once for testing his ideas on the new lab assistants. Which is one of the reasons he isn't allowed to have a personal assistant anymore. Apparently, once you accidentally turn your assistants liver to liquid you no longer have the right to an assistant.  

Teal has only ever made a real human connection with one other person and that would be the head scientist. Older than Teal and almost like a father figure Teal attached to him quickly once they were put in the same lab and even if he can't show it in a traditional sense Teal respects and admires the man. 
Teal has never been one to listen well to authority if he wasn't a pure genius he would have been tossed away in a cell to rot a long, long time ago. In fact, he would be more inclined to listen to the words of the head scientist than that of the president. 

Background:
Teal's mother was a dedicated scientist, in fact, she worked in the lab long after she was told to take leave because of her pregnancy. Teal's mother worked hard on DNA experiments and she even worked in the radiology department while she was pregnant with him. It was safe to say Teal came out a little backwards. And his skin may have had a tint of teal at the time which resulted in his name. Of course, it cleared up quickly. 
Teal's mother was a heartless woman who taught him at home and would often bring him to the lab to be her little assistant. He was never allowed out much and was never around other children only adults. Teal was found to be a genius while he was still very young and his mother took it upon herself to nurture this talent and push away everything else. Growing up being smart was the only thing that made his mother pay attention to him and so he quickly became smarter than them all. Although even then his odd personality came through but his mother never seemed to notice that part of him. A father was never mentioned and Teal never asked about one. 

Teal's mother died when he was 13 due to her working with radiation. Her funeral was filled with colleges and even the president at the time went. Teal didn't cry, and when he was pushed into a foster home he completely ignored all family care he was given until his potential was recognized and he was put in a lab to work at the young age of 17. He's been there ever since and some even say he lives in the lab. Although he does have a nice apartment which he never seems to go back to.
