 Emmett is all about capturing the moment, rather than living it. Which is why he always has a camera around with him. He's a logical thinker and always up for a debate on politics. He's not the most fun person to be around but he's interested in his own way, he loves cooking it's a passion one he doesn't tell most people but he has been cooking at home for his family since he could turn the oven on all by himself.

Sex and relationships have never really been all that important to him, and he's likely to treat any girlfriend he gets the same as his friends. But he attaches himself to people easily and can be left heartbroken when betrayed.

He's not one to lash out when angry but has been known to, it's not often that he is angry but when he is it's a bitter kind of anger that lingers longer than it should. He's outgoing in the soul but doesn't reach out to people all that often, keeping the people he knows well close to him.

Honestly, he doesn't really have many friends that aren't family, which is sad for he's very sociable at heart. Just a slightly bitter and 'stick in the mud' kind of person making it hard for others to really get along with him. His idea of fun is a photo shoot or spending several hours in the kitchen.

When he loves he does it with all his heart, even if he doesn't seem like it. He puts his all into the people around him. Trusting too easily and therefore getting hurt all the same. But that doesn't matter, as long as he has those few that are left, the others that leave him don't matter. Right?

He's sarcastic and bitter in the way he talks but can be a little playful at times. When with the right people that is.

 He was brought into the Ridland family when he was 6, older than the other three when they were brought in. So he took a little longer to adjust, he never knew his real parents being dumped outside a church when he was born (original), he lived in an all boys home for the first six years of his life never really making bonds with anyone.

Once he was adopted he expected to be ignored, but no such luck his new mother was overbearing and smothered him with more love then he knew how to deal with. While his new brother was eccentric and always done for messing with Emmett in a brotherly manner.

Everything was suddenly different, he had a large new family which consisted of more than just the ones who adopted him. Out of all of his aunt's kids, he bounded closely with Kendal and Electra, both having a similar personality. Although he was always closest with Kendal, the two even having a marriage pack for if they turned 30 and were still alone. 

In middle school he developed his first crush, a girl called Selah one of Kendal's friends and he confided with his friend Noah about it, Noah already had a crush on the girl but stepped down so that Emmett could be happy. And boy was he.

In high school, he asked her out, and they dated all the way up until university, where he walked in on Noah and Selah in a photo booth... Heartbroken and life turned upside down. Emmett hasn't been the same since. 

After the incident with his ex Emmett was far more withdrawn from people than he had ever been, he got a job right out of college and moved as far away from everyone as possible. Although he hated his job he needed the time away. During this time he met a girl at a local cafe called Sera, she was bubbly and sweet and really annoying yet Emmett kept finding himself coming back to see her and she was always so kind to him and even sat and had coffees with him on her breaks. 

She convinced him to go home and open a cafe of his own, knowing how much he hated his job and his life. She was a big step in helping him move forward with what he wanted to do in life and the moment he moved home and opened his cafe he called her up and offered her a job. The two have been together ever since although neither seems to have plans of getting married. 

A few years after that Emmett and Sera decided to adopt a child of their own, a sweet little girl who had a troubled life beforehand. They took her in when she was 3 and the moment she turned 6 they found out that their little girl was really a little boy and since then they have been working to support their son Louis.
