The Tashiro clan is the family Alice is related to, and the one behind everything to the ruins and fallen city.
The name Tashiro is considered taboo among the Tyrina land, and developed a kid's story to teach children to behave.

How the clan got destroyed was due to the obsession of Alice's father. Tezuka to find ways to use souls, separate the body from the soul, replicating souls, and more. Tezuka eventually succeeded but it came at a great cost, due to disrupting balance.
People and creatures become the same tar monsters found nowadays, wanting to die but can't. Once their soul was removed it caused their body is distort, rot away, and become a black tar like substance.

Alice's mother, Alzebeta was one of the few people that got caught up in the mess. Tezuka forced himself on her and had two kids, Alice and her brother Makino.
Makino sadly didn't make it because Tezuka killed him in the name of research.
