Their name is Atharrais, which is pronounced Ah-THA-riss. The name is derived from Scottish Gaelic and means "mimic" or "simulation".

They're a demon taking on the form of a cute little kitty to lure people in. By mimicking the sad meows and simulating  pain of a stray cat, many people are caught and drawn to their deaths by this cunning demon.

The stickers on their face have never been explained, and probably never will be.

If you're ever about to go into a place and you begin hearing meows of pain, it might already be too late. Make sure you keep a bundle of sage and dandelions on you at all times, lest you get caught in this mimics trap.
