~Shapeshifting

He can shapeshift either a part or his entire body to match that of any animal he pleases, taking him to the land, sky, and sea.

~Heightened Senses

Like how animals seem to tell changes in weather or sense negative energy, Amaziah also seems to have inherent this sixth sense, able to predict if something bad will happen.

~Nature/Fauna Control

Amaziah has a special connection with plants and animals, almost on a spiritual level. He can speak to and control animals. He's often seen having full-on conversations with whatever creatures are around him.

He can grow any plant almost anywhere at a near-immediate rate. He uses it for his bidding, usually to bind, trap, or suffocate his victims.

Poisonous and hallucinogenic plants tend to have a lesser effect on him.

~Nature/Fauna Growth

Be it by prolonged proximity or how much magic he pours in, Amaziah can cause living creatures to grow in alarming sizes. This leads to 10 ft tall grizzly bears and human-sized (man-eating) Venus flytraps at his disposal.

~Vitality

He can revitalize a recently dead being within 30 seconds.

~Quick Healing

Amaziah can heal himself and others by draining the energy of a separate living thing.

~Windowing

Like a powerful high fae, Amaziah can teleport from place to place as far as other courts, excluding the palaces of other high lords and ladies, as well as sacred places. However, he never really focused on harnessing this power, so this easily tires him, and he usually can't take more than two people with him.

Bisexual with a preference for men. Despite not looking for love, he does have many affairs. However, he'd only marry if it benefits him.

Amaziah is often hard to read as it seems he doesn't naturally express emotions. Even when he smiles, his eyes are vacant. Despite this first impression, you'll find he isn't detached. In fact, he is quite lively and sociable. He's a narcissist and near desperate attention seeker, often throwing lavish parties within his palace to high fae folk. He absolutely loves the adoration his people give him. Amaziah is known to be charming, witty, and playful in these large social interactions.

On serious or professional, he handles himself in a quiet, blasรฉ, sometimes even sarcastic manner. Rarely does he ever have a strong reaction to anything. People often mistake this as him being passive when really he's just taking in everything and then scheming away. He is straightforward and blunt with his thoughts. He can't stand fluff or small talk. He's cocky, bold, and daring and won't stand for disrespect. He's slow to trust, often trusting his animals before he trusts people.

Spend too much with him, though; you'll start to realize he may be a little demented. Amaziah's twisted sense of humor makes him come off as sadistic. And he may very well be. He seems to take pleasure in frightening others and discussing his plans for torture and/or executions. He can be cold and heartless to those suffering outside his kingdom.

Amaziah wants the people of his court to see him as a benevolent and generous ruler, so he provides charity and subsidies. But, unfortunately, this only extends to the fae. Humans absolutely disgust him. To him, they're less than animals, only meant to serve. The only exceptions he might be those who manage to amuse or entertain him.

Under all his humor, confidence, and carefree front, he is quite a miserable soul. He seeks others' adoration to fill the emptiness. But, in truth, he's quite lonely. While he rules as a bloodthirsty leader, what he really craves is unconditional love. And maybe, just maybe, genuine affection in good faith.

๐•ญ๐–†๐–ˆ๐–๐–Œ๐–—๐–”๐–š๐–“๐–‰

Amaziah's birth was something sort of an accident. His father, Rashid, and mother, Madini, had only wanted one child, their son, Kamili.

"He is Perfect; He has No Flaws."

They had the perfect family; two loving partners and their powerful son destined to be heir to the throne. That is until Madini cheated on her partner. As much as she loved her husband, she felt he couldn't satisfy him. So off she had an affair in secret, got pregnant, and gave birth to another baby boy. He was named Asani, and his birth caused a rift within his family. A reminder to his father, a great and powerful high lord, wasn't good enough for his wife. A reminder to his mother of her mistake. And to his older brother, competition.

Asani was given the bare minimum. Or at least the minimum for a royal child born into a wealthy family. He was fed good food, given beautiful clothes, and wonderful toys, all a child could wish for. But he was always alone. While his brother, born with impressive powers and innate talent, was glorified by their parents and shown off like a trophy at parties, Asani was under rigorous training to "become worthy" of the crown. Often times, their human servants were treated better than he was. What attention he did receive from his family was scornful. His brother mocked and bullied him, perhaps out of frustration with being the trophy child. His father physically abused him. What he felt worse was the ignorance of his mother, who never even remembered his name.

In this alone time, Asani would talk to the plant and animals. He would vent to the animals that came to his window while he tended their wounds; in return, they would bring him gifts. Slowly, over time, this spiritual connection made him more powerful. He began to experiment with what he could do.

Kamili fell ill one fateful day and was put on bed rest. Asani immediately took this opportunity. That night, once his parents were asleep, and the nurse had gone to their quarters, he struck. At exactly midnight on that cloudy September nox, Kamili woke to the crowing of a blackbird at his windowsill. Vines crept slowly around his bedroom, up the wall, and over his ceiling. They covered the floor, and they inched towards his bed. Too weak to fight back in his sickly state, Kamili was consumed by the vines. Frantic thrashing and turning, Kamili suddenly felt a cold presence. He turned his head to see his younger brother standing over him, wide-eyed and emotionless.

"Enough is enough," he said simply. Everything was going to plan, and Asani almost cracked a smile seeing the tears stream down his brother's face. What Asani didn't expect was for his older brother to laugh. In relief.

He still remembers his brother's last words as he drained the life force from his body.

"Heavy is the crown."

Kamili's body was found the following day entangled in vines, blooming with hydrangeas, the room swarming with butterflies.

With no other child, Asani was set to be heir to the throne. His aura grew larger with resentment, some rivaling that of his parents. He threatened to kill anyone who stood in his way, demonstrating so against one of his father's loyal soldiers who attempted to strike him. A giant wolf, summoned by Amaziah, dragged the soldier out of the palace, screaming. When Asani came of age, he changed his name to Amaziah and took the throne, always surrounded by animals, small, big, and massive.

~Persuasion

Amaziah has a way with words that makes him pretty convincing. But, if not convinced, he has other methods.

~Combat

He went through intense physical training as a child. As an adult, he remains prime in his magic and martial skills.

~Strategic Planning

A slow but thoughtful and thorough planner. Amaziah considers all variables before setting his course of action

~Espionage

Not personally; he'll usually discretely send one of his animals best suited for the job to do spy work for him.

~~Amaziah occasionally has his victims' bodies buried within his garden to serve as fertilizer. Much of the food grown in said gardens he eats and serves to guests.

~Despite typically being surrounded by butterflies, his favorite animals are actually snakes.

~His birth name, Asani, means "rebel; a clear and modest person."

~Tends to refer to people as "sweetheart," "darling," "child," "love," and other pet names. Once you get to know him, you realize it's more condescending than endearing
