Wendell was a student studying abroad in the town of Ocean View, Hawaii, where he met Holokai and Iwalani. The three fell in love and were dating for a while until a disastrous volcanic eruption destroyed their home and forced them to move. They relocated to the United States with Wendell.

Holokai and Iwalani have a very chill, laid-back, and carefree vibe, the kind they raise their children with. Call them hippies if you will. They're the "fun" parent, letting Keoki and Kekoa try and get away a lot of things. Wendell tends to be the more serious, strict, and protective one that keeps his family out of trouble. All three parents have a loving and open-mindedness when raising their children, prioritsing mental wellness.
