Third person p.o.v.
Yet again jessi's parents were in a dispute, her dad being an awful monster to her poor over stressed mother. Jessi put the volume of her music playing through her earphones higher, but not so high it would hurt her ears.
It's the third time this week, her mother would just said that the dad can either leave or become a better person, which made him call her a bitch. Bitch was one of his favourite words to use, along with crazy, psycho etc.
With four other siblings to take care of, plus herself, jessi isn't sure how much more her poor mother could take. She always worried for her mother, constantly asking her how's she's going, if she wanted company or help with anything.
But her mother, violet, kept saying she didn't need much help, she's all okay, she has the others for company. Jessi knows her mother is saying that so jessi won't have to worry.
Suddenly the whole house seemed to shake as her dad, well she guessed, her dad slammed a door, meaning the berating was finally over for today, maybe.
But she knew her mother would text her soon enough, vent and tell her EVERYTHING. Jessi knew her mother needed someone to talk to, but she wished her mother wouldn't just unload everything she tried so hard to block out.
The poor girl also wishes her mother would wait until it wasn't so raw when she vented. Jessi sat there, seeing the messages send through and then giving her normal replies.
Five minutes later her mother says she's going to pick up her younger siblings from school then take them to the park. Jessi knew her mother wanted to keep the little ones away from the house as much as possible, away from HIM.
She replied with an "okay see you guys later! Then put down her phone. She didn't dare take out her earphones, because she knew for a fact that her dad would be muttering awful things under her breath, things she wish she could unhear.
She cried silently, a thing she picked up from living like this for years. She spotted her childhood stuffed toy lamby the lamb, grabbed her and started to cry into it.
She brought her knees up to her head, face into the plushie, caracal tail woven around her feet. Yes her quirk is caracal, like the big cat. It gives her the ears, eyes, teeth, nose, tail and claws like one. Even gives jessi the improved eyesight, scent, climbing, speed and jumping abilities of the big cat.
Enough about her quirk, back to her life. Her sometimes miserable life at least. Whenever she finishes crying she texts her bestfriend mirio, acting like everything was all okay.
She had met him one day at a cafe, on a day where she needed a break from her fucking dad, just something about this kind guy made her want to be freinds with him.
His cheerful mood, his constant jokes, his desire to help the millions. Oh yeah he was also a student in the hero school U.A.
A third year student and among the top three students, who were also his other besties. Jessie h asd met them a few times, even though his other friend, who's hero name is sun eater, was quite nervous.
His other friend was quite talkative, not shy and just the opposite of sun eater. Mirio seemed to get along with everyone, even people who would rather be at home then out of town.
She was a mix of that, some days she wanted to stay home, some days she never wanted to go back there. Her home isn't a home, it's a hell.
A hell where the torture was ongoing, never ending.
The sudden quiet vibration of her phone caught her attention, she put down her plush and looked at it. It was from mirio saying "Are we still on for the movies tonight?"
Shit she had completly forgot about that damm movie. But now jessi was to drained to go, now She has two choices. To either make up and excuse or force herself to go there.
If she suddenly backed out now with a half baked lie he might get curious and ask why. But yet she also can't be fucked going anymore. Plus while she's gone her mother and siblings would come back and she can't let them face dad alone.
Shit she really can't have them do that, yet she can't just cancel on her bestfreind, the two of them have been so hyped for this movie.
The wings of fire movie: Rise of the darkstalker had come out recently and the two have been wanting to go since the teaser.
Yet she can't bare having her family be with her "father" without her there. She always sticks up for herself and everyone else. It did make things worse but she can't take seeing it hurt others.
Jessi felt her breath get quicker, chest feeling numb and tears making it hard to see. Jessi felt her whole body loose control as her mind went over everything that could possibly go wrong.
With seconds that felt like hours another messaged popped up asking "You there?" Which made her feel worse. What should she tell him? What if this isn't the first time she has to cancel something? What if she does it so much he unfreinds her?!
She pulled out her earphones and rested her out of control body on her bed frame. Huge loud sobs wrecked her body as her panic attack worsened. She made herself sit on her bed, since her legs felt like they were about to give away underneath her.
The sobs started to get painful as her lungs fought for proper air. Tears clouded her vision, despite her efforts to wipe them away. Her whole body was shaking, her fur on end. Then jessi had a thought pop into her mind, her breathing!
Well her calming breathing as her psychologist called it. Her calming breathing was six seconds in, six seconds out. Jessi repeated this until she felt her body calm down. She took one final breath and reached for her phone.
It had gained another message saying "You busy?" With slightly shaking fingers she began to reply. Lying she was just busy hanging out with her dad, lying that she was all okay.
Then came the lie, she told him that something had come up and isn't able to come see the movie with him. He had replied with an okay, I won't go tonight and I'll refund the ticket kind of stuff.
Jessi felt terrible for lying, then something came over her, a feeling to tell some truth. "Actually something happened at home and I'm not feeling the movie."
After she sent that message her ears lowered in shock and more panic. She rushed to quickly delete the message but he responded with "Like what?" Oh nothing mirio just my father is an absolute asshole!
She typed that she didn't want to go into yet, only that it made her not want to go. He responded with very considerate questions, seeing if anything awful happened.
Jessi had responded with she dosn't feel like getting into it and she needs rest. He responded with a final okay and didn't send any more messages.
She put her phone on her night stand, stood up and grabbed her switch to watch the YouTuber Daz games. Anything to keep herself from falling asleep. Little did she know She had just deeply worried mirio and this won't be the last time he asks if she's okay.
Three months later:
The two had eventually made it to see the movie, they both loved it.
But something bugged mirio the whole time he knew jessi. The way she would just back out of things without much explanation, how she got so anxious and how tired she seemed.
She had a smile that would could light a whole city, yet something about it seemed to forced, like some smiles he wore.
He does it cuz he's training to be a hero, she's doing it for some reason unknown to him. Exact same age, similar interests, sense of humor yet there's a huge part of his beloved friend he can't see yet.
Recently he had gotten permission to leave school grounds and visit her place for a while. Apparently her mother was with a friend, two older siblings out of the house, two youngest at school and father at work.
They had been chilling on her couch when jessi's phone went off. He saw her ears lower in fear then rise back up. "Well unless you want to meet my dad I suggest you leave." She tried to joke with a smile, but this time something clicked.
She never let him meet her dad, only the rest of her family. "Jessi I have a feeling your dad is the reason behind some things." He started slowly, seeing her eyes go from "happy" to frightful.
Before she could brush it off he held up a hand. "He makes you suffer dosn't he?" Mirio asked gently, almost a whisper. His blue eyes looked into her Amber eyes before they turned away to the floor.
Her ears lowered and then tears began to stain her face. She nodded a yes then ran into him, engulfing him in a huge hug.
He wrapped his arms around her, giving comforting pats on the back. He felt jessi begin to crumble, so he sat on the floor with her.
It was just the two of them, in an empty quiet house. He knew it wouldn't be quiet for along, her father will be back soon and give her family hell. Her so called father will cause his dear friend harm, just like a villain.
There are ways he can help rescue her from this villain, yet alot of it was up to her and her mother violet. He began to rock her as her sobs got quiet.
He prayed that this villain won't hurt jessi for much longer, only a short time more and jessi can be free. Her family can be free. Then he opened his mouth and spoke. "Your going to be okay."
