There really isn't a degree of normalcy to Damien's mood. Usually he throws himself into his working, providing for a rather cut and dry leader. Though on a regular basis outside of being on duty, Damien instead tends to relieve his stress with a humorous and lighthearted personality.

Once again, Damien differs heavily between his work and casual lifestyle. If direct orders are disobeyed, he won't take to it lightly by any means. While if someone he has a personal attachment may have some building ire from him, Damien can generally suppress it.

↬ Discipline ↫

Of course, being in the military for seven years would provide for strict discipline. Damien takes orders extraordinarily well, though tends to be the one making them.

Damien is remarkably well-versed in knowledge of the military and having the strength and intelligence to keep his position in it. Generally he is an amiable diplomat, always aiming for compromise in his best interests.

Unfortunately from a previous mission against rebels Damien's knee was shattered. And from it he has a weak spot whenever he fights. On a level that isn't physical, Damien loses credibility in defending the caste system considering he was once an eight.

Damien initially desired to separate himself from a monotonous life working on a farm, which he did. Though now he wants to retire from the military and find someone to spend his life with.

There isn't much Damien fears, he puts back that his memories are probably the worst he will have to fear in life. But otherwise Damien constantly fears being rejected from his work and family.

Damien enjoys the idea of things that are new and alive. The spring is his favorite season yet he loves freshly fallen snow. His routine in the mornings is to drink strong coffee and if he can get a hand on it, consume virtually any type of fruit.

Things that are mottled and disfigured from their usual beauty in the realm of nature tend to make Damien uncomfortable. Seeing wreckage of towns or the dirt mix with snow into a brown slush. It doesn't repulse him, but he hates how the beauty has been practically tarnished and how vividly it reminds him of some scenes seen in war.

Damien has a soft spot for those in the eighth caste, particularly regarding how he was once one. Hence why it is a common occasion for him to provide assistance to the children who are apart of that caste. In addition, any person who has subjected to a draft or a colleague with particularly trying circumstances immediately gain his sympathy.

Thinking back on his time in active duty makes Damien feel depressed that he didn't do more. And thinking of how his father didn't bother giving him and his mother so much as a chance at life never will bring pleasant thoughts, either.

Damien is inspired by any sort of story of rags to riches. Not by suddenly marrying someone, but undergoing the long and tiring process of bringing themselves upwards in life.

After a reckless fling, Olive was left as a pregnant woman sent to the eighth caste. She understandably felt betrayed, and as a former three it was difficult to adapt to the harsh circumstances. But Olive got by with begging and making small trinkets of jewelry. As a youth, Damien had a difficult time comprehending why they had to live on the streets, but his understanding came into light as he was shunned by everyone on them.
When Damien was six, Olive ended up selling a few trinkets to a farmer. Said farmer, by the name of Edward ended up taking a liking to Damien's mother. And so unfolded the strange rags to riches type story as Olive married Edward.
For awhile, everything was awkward with Damien. Eating more than a meal a day, sleeping on a bed, regularly showering and having a supportive father figure felt so foreign. Eventually Damien developed a close bond with Edward, though it was painfully obvious at how late they were introduced to one another.

Damien soon realized he didn't want to work on a farm for his whole life. No, he expected to travel, have an adventure and do his part in the world. Eventually when the draft came around to Sumner, Damien came to the harsh realization that thus may be his only chance out of a farm life. And so he took it, eagerly signing up for the military.
It soon became apparent that Damien had many assets for the military. He was strong from the many days in the heat, operating equipment and performing chores. His intelligence was within the 98th percentile and obedience rather beneficial. Damien rose through the ranks remarkably quickly, but active fur didn't come until he was 18.
At one point when Damien was on mission, an ambush occurred resulting in several severe injuries. From then on, Damien was assigned to simply strategy. It was difficult to perform such a 180, but he soon realized that it was a valuable skill. Eventually when Damien was cleared, he was assigned to training new soldiers from Sumner. His current caste is a Two given his high ranking.
