Eviana's Diary

The lights finally come back up and there are two tiger props at the back of the stage. They rise as a cluster of dancers in black race back and forth in a choreographed routine. As soon as the two props are raised up in place, making a kind of archway, the lights shine on the center, where five people stand, dressed in assorted all-black outfits with scars etched on their faces by the team of makeup artists.

I immediately recognize the song coming up. Excitement filling me, just like the rest of the audience there for the concert. Tiger Dreams. It's a killer choreographed song number with what K-Pop lovers call a killing part. The "killing part" refers to a part of choreography, song, music video or performance that is considered the best or most difficult in terms of enjoyment and stamina.

A deep voice speaks out in a narrative tone, "Tiger, tiger, bruins bright, with stripes black as the night. In the forests, roaming, what immortal hand or eye, dare frame thy fearful symmetry?"

The lights flash an orange and black to resemble a tiger. At this, J'TASK descends a staircase and Astro breaks out an opening verse in his rap:

"I'm about to dine on what I know it mine

I was born a tiger,

At least I'm not a weakling like you

Pathetic, putting on a talent show

Move aside, fools, let this tiger show you how to glow."

They hit the bottom of the stairs and Jimin launches out in his piercing, amazing upper vocals:

"Tiger! Tiger!

Burning bright in the forests of the night

Like a thunderbolt he strikes,

Covered in white, with black stripes

His sight is sharp when he sneaks

A victim beneath him, for life she seeks."

JT and Kookie strike cat-like poses as they sing in unison:

"The striped beauty of his moving side

Close over as the golden eye,

Who led swiftly down the forest paths

To safety beyond the wild

Is moving through the land,

Where the jungle leaps beyond the bed."

Astro, JT, Jimin, Kookie and Suga all burst out with a wide range of vocals to sing the chorus:

"Tiger! Tiger!

You see him!

White with black stripes

Sight as sharp as a knife

Burning brightly in the forests of the night

Bounding down the forest paths

In the dense jungle beyond the bed.

These are tiger dreams,

Deep in night,

Filling you with power

To conquer anything he may scour

Never backing down with a cower

This is the mightiness of the royal tiger!"

While the others pump up the crowd, jumping up and down in place, Suga drops low, digging into his grit as he raps:

"But now he is helpless in corners he lays,

Left alone, missing his good old days

The big striped tiger that you once knew

Longs for more,

Once a hunter, now a portrait

Locked inside a steel round cage

Where's his wild life, his fortune, his fame?

The gazelle, forgot about him and his name

His time is done, went down the drain

Left powerless, tied by a chain."

All five members launch back into the chorus as they move around to their killer choreography:

"Tiger! Tiger!

You see him!

White with black stripes

Sight as sharp as a knife

Burning brightly in the forests of the night

Bounding down the forest paths

In the dense jungle beyond the bed.

These are tiger dreams,

Deep in night,

Filling you with power

To conquer anything he may scour

Never backing down with a cower

This is the mightiness of the royal tiger!"

Kookie breaks out a rap:

"There is a predator within me

One that craves to stalk you

My neverending prey

For with you I have the thrill of the hunt

In the night and in the jungle

Feel my roar vibrate through your bones

And know me to be a beast

Aggressively marking my territory

Claws that dig into your fur

Canines that linger in your warmth

And this is the beginning of our wild hunt."

Confetti shoots from cannons that are hidden at the edge of the stage as the concert nears its huge and hyped ending.

They all break into the chorus once again, with Jimin tapping into his powerful, high falsetto notes:

"These are tiger dreams,

Deep in night,

Filling you with power

To conquer anything he may scour

Never backing down with a cower

This is the mightiness of the royal tiger!

These are tiger dreams,

This is the mightiness of the royal tiger!"

The lights flash orange and black like a tiger and there's a tiger roar that follows as the members all strike their ending pose and the song finishes. There's a boisterous roar from the crowd as well.

Fireworks launch into the air overhead, filling the darkening sky with a variety of colors and deafening cracks.

The confetti soon dies down, covering the surface of the stage and the fireworks stop. All five members of J'TASK stand in the center of the stage and bow to the buzzing, electrified and amazed audience that has gathered for the sold out concert.

Jimin's eyes find mine once again and he has a huge, satisfied smile on his face. I can tell that he lives for moments like this. He loves feeling the energy from an animated audience that cheers him and his band on.

He truly loves what he does, taking nothing for granted.

I think that's just one of the many reasons why I chose him as my bias. And I can't help but cheer, clap and chant his name with the other fans who've chosen him as a bias. Jimin Bakjin! Jimin Bakjin! Jimin Bakjin!
