7) Peace and Quiet
Harry looks up at Draco as he begins speaking, taking him out of his little trance.
"I don't like everyone swarming me, I find their attention overwhelming and undeserved. Because of that, I do my best to avoid public spaces, that includes the Dining Hall." He answered simply with a small shrug as he stopped playing.
Draco internally grew upset when he stopped playing but didn't let it show on the outside.
"Did you at least tell a House Elf to bring you some food?" Draco asked shocking himself. Why did he care if the Golden Boy had eaten? Why did he care if he took care of himself?
It must be the leftover care for his mother clouding his mind.
"No, I haven't, I'm not really a big breakfast eater anyway." He answered with a shrug.
"Why did you come back so soon after you left?" Harry asked in return, figuring it was fair to be asked a question and then ask a question himself.
Draco stayed quiet for a moment. Did he want to admit that he doesn't like eating that much anymore? Did he want to admit that Pansy and Blaise had riled him up in an annoyed way? Did he want to admit that he was curious to see if Harry himself was in here?
No, he didn't want to admit any of that.
"I'm not much of a breakfast person either." He stated instead, deciding to take part in Harry's answer.
Harry simply nodded, deciding not to press the subject. He knew that Draco wouldn't open up to him easily so he wouldn't force him to.
"Anything else you'd like to ask me?" Harry asked Draco with a small head tilt, making him look almost dog-like in Draco's eyes.
"No, not now, anyways," Draco answered, in truth, he had a million and one questions for the boy but he didn't think that now was a good time to ask him. So instead, he lied once again.
"Alright," Harry said with a small nod before he began to play his guitar again.
Draco's body relaxed again when he heard the soft strumming and he couldn't understand why.
Was Harry putting out a spell through the music? Was the guitar enchanted? There had to be some reason as to why he felt so relaxed, so at ease when he heard the music play.
Draco was taken out of his thoughts when he heard Harry begin to hum along with the song he was playing.
It wasn't anything Draco recognized so it had to be a muggle song. It was pretty though so Draco couldn't make himself care about where it was from.
Harry got lost in the music after a while and almost started to sing along to the song before he heard the loud group of his friends returning.
He was quickly pulled out of his peaceful mindset when he heard them and transfigured the guitar back into a pillow.
Draco instantly became annoyed with the other 8th years for returning from breakfast, he was almost able to hear what Harry's singing voice sounded like and now that chance was ripped away from him.
"What are you two doing in here?" Hermione asked as everyone either walked over to them or back to their dorm rooms.
"Just relaxing," Harry answered with a grin as Draco glared at everyone silently.
"Relaxing? By just sitting there doing nothing? Not even playing chess?" Ron asked when he saw nothing between the two that could be used as entertainment.
"Yeah, we were just enjoying the peace of silence for a bit, we don't get to hear it often," Harry said with a teasing smile.
"It's not my fault you moved into our house, you knew ahead of time that we're a loud bunch," Ron said with a grin of his own as he flopped down on the couch next to Harry.
Hermione moved to sit in the seat across from Draco, on the other side of the couch.
"I know you're all loud and I don't mind, I much prefer it to where I used to live; I also just like some peace and quiet every now and then," Harry said with a smile confusing Draco.
Where had he lived before? He was living with the Weasleys now? Why did he move out of where he was before? Didn't everyone worship the boy?
"There you are!" Pansy said as she and Blaise walked over to them, pulling Draco out of his thoughts.
"I didn't expect you to be hanging with this trio out of your own choice." Blaise joked as he sat down on the other side of Ron while Pansy leaned against the side of Draco's chair.
"Oh sod off," Draco stated with an eye roll. "If was just Potter and then the others joined a minute ago." He stated making the others in his trio smile at him.
"So you two are on good terms now then?" Pansy asked as she moved to sit on Draco's lap, confusing the Golden Trio.
"I suppose so," Draco said with a sigh as he allowed her to sit on his lap but he didn't wrap his arms around her waist, he simply moved further back in the chair so she would have more stable leg space to sit on.
Harry smiled at his answer and took note of how he didn't show her any affection when she sat down.
"Are you two together?" Ron asked the question the others were thinking.
"Ronald! That's none of your business." Hermione snapped quickly making Ron shrug.
"I'm just curious, I don't really care, I just thought Draco liked blokes." He said with another shrug making Draco's face darken with a deep blush as Hermione hit him with the newspaper that was on the table in front of the couch.
"You can't say things like that!" She scolded while Blaise laughed loudly at Draco's flushed face and Ron getting hit with the roll of paper.
"No, we're not dating, we're all just very comfortable with each other. I could move to sit on Blaise's lap if you'd prefer that." Pansy answered with a smile of her own, finding his lack of a filter very amusing.
"Oh alright," Ron said as he grabbed the newspaper from Hermione and set it back down on the table.
She gave him a small glare but didn't pick it back up again.
