4) New Beginnings

Harry entered the Great Hall and moved over to his group of friends as quickly as possible without running in hopes that he wouldn't be swarmed by anyone.
"Where have you been? We all thought you were right behind us until we were in the carriages and didn't see you anymore!" Hermione asked once Harry sat down next to Ron at the table.
"I stopped to look around and when I realized that you had all left, I ran to the carriages and got onto the last one with Malfoy, Parkinson, and Zabini," Harry explained just as the three walked into the Great Hall, all of them still whispering to each other as they went to their seats at the table.
"Did they do anything to you?" Ginny asked, her protective sister's side showing.
"No, they didn't, Malfoy actually realizes that it was all of that helped defeat Voldemort instead of just me and brought that to light a little, the other two agreed with him too," Harry said with a small smile confusing the others.
"That's good then," Ginny said with a nod.
"I think we should try our best to put our past behind us and be nice to them this year, they are probably going to get a lot of shit because of what happened in the past so I think we shouldn't add onto that burden," Hermione suggested, the others nodding in agreement.
Like that, they had decided; they were all going to be nice to the Slytherins this year and try to turn a new leaf, start a new beginning.
Before their conversation could continue, however, Headmistress McGonagall began giving the welcoming speech before she began the sorting.
The first years that were sorted into Slytherin had one of three reactions. They were either proud and walked over to the table with their heads held high, looked nervous but went over there anyway, or looked like they were on the verge of tears and sat down furthest away from everyone else to the best of their ability.
Once the sorting was done, McGonagall waved her hand over the Hall and food appeared all along the tables.
Everyone dug in and began talking to their friends about random things.

Once dinner was done, the Prefects all helped everyone get to their house and gave them all the password. Well everyone but the eighth-year students, they were asked to stay in the Great Hall instead of leaving with the others.
All eighth years were no longer allowed to be Preficts because this was the only time there would be an eighth year so the school wanted to make sure all sixth and seventh years got their chances to be Preficts like a few eighth years were the years prior.
"There are not enough rooms in your houses for you all to stay there so you will all be staying in the new room built into Hogwarts. It's rather small but it will do. Our hope is that you will all be able to put your past behind you and become friends." McGonagall stated before leading them to a new portion of the building that wasn't there before.
Everyone followed her but as they did so, they also looked around and saw that there were very few of them left.
The only eight years that had returned were, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Dean, Seamus, Neville, Luna, Draco, Pansy, and Blaise.
"There are five rooms here so everyone will have to share a dorm room with their already assigned roommate. If you have problems with your roommate then tell me or one of the professors and we shall see what we can do to help you. With that, I bid you all goodnight." McGonagall said with a small smile and nod before leaving them all in front of an opened portrait of an empty Quidditch field.
"Oh, and the password is Forgiveness." She said before properly leaving.
All of the students walked through the portrait and saw that instead of a mix of all the house colors, there was a new color.
Purple, almost everything in the room was royal, deep purple.
There were in fact five doors that led to different rooms and on each door were the names of who was going to be staying in it.
"You have got to be joking," Draco said once he saw who he would be staying with.
Even though he had said it rather quietly, he was also the only one to have said anything so it drew the attention of almost everyone in the room.
"Looks like they broke up the Golden trio," Blaise said when he saw everyone's doors.
He was paired with Ron, Draco with Harry, and Pansy with Hermione.
"Have fun mates," Seamus said before going into his and Dean's room.
"Enjoy your night everyone, don't let the Nargles keep you awake," Luna said with her dreamy smile before she and Neville walked into their shared room.
"They broke up your silver trio to mate." Ron said as he patted Blaise's shoulder before walking into their bedroom, confusing the 'silver trio'.
"We should get unpacked before we get to bed so don't stay out too late," Hermione said to Pansy with a kind smile before walking into their room confusing the three Slytherins even more.
"I agree with Hermione, try not to stay out too much longer," Harry said, giving them all a smile of his own before walking into his and Draco's room leaving them perplexed.
"Why are they all being so civil to us? Shouldn't they hate us?" Blaise asked as he, Pansy, and Draco all moved to the couches that were in the middle of the room.
"I mean I get Potter, he is used to getting an overwhelming amount of praise from everyone so the change of phase is probably refreshing for him. The other two though, I have no idea." Pansy said as she sat down, Draco sitting between both of them.
"Potter probably told them to play nice because he's Mr. Nice Guy now so that's probably all," Draco said though it didn't really sound like he believed what he was saying.
"Yeah maybe, I guess that could be it." Blaise agreed with a slight nod.
"Well as much as I don't like to admit it, Granger is right and we should all unpack before we go to sleep tonight so we should probably get going," Pansy said with a sigh before standing back up.
So they all went back to their dorm rooms and walked in before beginning to unpack their luggage.
This year was going to be interesting...
