3) The Train Ride

⚠Cussing, verbal bullying(?), talk of someone telling another to k1ll themself⚠

"Thank you, Seamus." Ginny laughed as she shut the compartment door behind her.

Inside the compartment, Seamus was sitting on Dean's lap, Luna was sitting in front of them and Neville was sitting beside her.

They all treated each other as they moved to sit down as well, Ginny sitting beside Luna, Hermione beside Neville, and Harry and Ron beside Dean and Seamus.

"So what was that out there?" Dean asked, referring to what happened outside of the train.

"Just a bunch of Harry's fangirls asking questions," Ron said with a roll of his eyes.

"But he corrected them and told them that we all had a part in defending Hogwarts so don't you dare get upset at him Ronald." Hermione snapped quickly, not wanting to have a repeat of the Tri-Wizard Tournament.

"I'm not upset at him, he didn't ask for this and clearly doesn't like the attention. I'm upset at the people for thinking that they can fawn over him and take over his personal space just because they want an autograph or a photo together." Ron ranted making Hermione smile at him.

"Alright, that's good then." She said, showing her smile making Ron flush.

The two of them never became a thing after the kiss, they both agreed that they were best as friends and nothing more but that didn't stop Ron from getting flustered at getting even the smallest amount of praise.

"I wish they would stop acting like I'm so much better than everyone else when you all did just as much if not more to help defeat the no-nosed freak," Harry said making the others crack a smile.

They all agreed before changing the topic to what they did over the summer.

They talked and talked and talked until they reached Hogwarts.

~☆Time jump back to when Draco arrives at the station☆~

Draco made sure to be one of the first people at the station in hopes that there would be fewer glares, and fewer people to piss him off so early in the morning.

Sadly, that wasn't the case.

Because there were so few people, the people that were there were very aware that he was there as well.

A few wizards glared at him, others pulled their children away from him.

As he was getting onto the train someone yelled "Go back home Deatheater scum!" and nobody defended him at all, instead turning a blind ear and pretending that they didn't hear anything.

Draco glared at the ground as he got into his usual compartment, in the very back of the train where very few people went so he wouldn't be bothered.

Only a few minutes had passed when the compartment doors opened to reveal a pissed-looking Pansy and an aggravated Blaise.

"What happened to you two?" Draco asked as they walked into the compartment, shutting the door behind themselves.

"While Saint Potter was out there was being asked for his autograph, we were both harassed and called all types of slurs! An old man even told me that I should kill myself because of what I did and then pointed to my arm!" Pansy seethed making Draco's eyes widen.

"Who was it? I have absolutely nothing to lose now so I will go to Azkaban with a bright arse smile on my face knowing that I put some bitch in their place after what they did to you." Draco asked as he stood up, his hand on the door; ready to leave and hex some random stranger.

Before Pansy could say anything to stop him, the train began moving and the ride began, not stopping again until they reached Hogwarts.

"Damnit." Draco huffed before falling back into his seat.

"It's fine Draco, it's just some old geezer that doesn't know left from right. I don't really care about his opinion or anyone's opinion that goes against mine which is that I'm a beautiful badass bitch that can and will hex you into oblivion if provoked." Pansy stated making Draco and Blaise smile at her.

"That's good, make sure you keep it that way. People are going to try and drag us down a lot now that they saw what side we were on for part of the war, they don't care if it was our choice or not; all they care about is what they saw." Blaise sighed, the other two nodding in agreement.

The three of them continued to talk about what the school year was going to be like, telling each other about all the hidden passageways they had found over the years in case they needed to get away from any crazy people.

~☆~

Once the train arrived at Hogwarts, everyone left their compartments and moved into the carriages or boats if they were first years.

"Come on everyone, we need to get onto a carriage together!" Ginny said as she grabbed Luna's hand and pulled along, the others following them.

Well, everyone but Harry. Harry stayed back and watched everyone around him.

He looked at how the professors welcomed the students back like they were family, he watched as the first years looked in awe at the school, and he saw how quite a few students embraced each other for the first time in a year.

Then he saw the school, the magical castle where he had spent both the best and worst times of his childhood. He saw that the building's damages had been repaired but on every stone, there was a name on it.

Each name was the name of a person that died during the battle, showing that they, nor the battle would ever be forgotten; instead, they would be set in stone and remembered for centuries to come.

After looking around for another minute, Harry realized that he had been left completely alone and quickly left for the carriages.

Once he got there, there was only one carriage left and there were only three people on it.

Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, and Blaise Zabbini.

"Do you mind if I join you all? I seemed to have gotten separated from my friends." Harry asked with a sheepish grin, confusing the three on the carriage.

"Not at all, come on up Potter; this is the last carriage after all and we don't want the savior of the wizarding world having to walk all that way," Pansy said as she patted the seat next to her before moving so she was sitting between Draco and Blaise, leaving Harry the one side all to himself.

Harry got onto the carriage but before he could tell her that he truly hated that name, Draco spoke up.

"Oh please, he isn't all that Pansy and you know it. It's honestly not even worth teasing him over it because all he's really done is one small thing to help out with what everyone else did for him. Now he's getting all of the credit for it? I don't think he's worthy of all that." Draco stated as he sent a cold glare to Harry.

To his surprise, Harry grinned brightly at him in response.

"I think that was a little too mu-" Pansy began only to cut herself off when Blaise whispered to her, "Look at Potter." making her see that he was looking at Draco with adoration instead of rage.

"Never mind then." She mumbled with a small, confused smile.

"I'm happy that someone else sees what the reality of what happened was," Harry said after a second confusing Draco even more than before.

Draco didn't mean to really snap at Harry but he had gathered up a lot of pint up anger over the course of the train ride at all of the hypotheticals on what could happen to him and the other Slytherins so he snapped at the first person that wasn't a Slytherin.

That person just so happened to be Harry.

"Yes well, there's no way your peabrain could have handled doing all of this on your own. It's clear that you had help from Granger and Weasle." Draco snapped again, trying to keep up the act he accidentally began again.

To his surprise, Harry's smile grew larger as his eyes filled with something more than admiration though he couldn't figure out what that thing was.

"I'm happy you could tell that, at least someone besides us three knows that it was more than just me to help," Harry said before the carriages stopped having reached their destination.

He was the first to get off and turned to them, offering his hand to help them down as he did so.

"Thank you for letting me sit with you all, I'll see you around." He said after helping them all down.

He then turned around and left inside Hogwarts, off to find his fellow Gryffindors.

The moment he was out of earshot, Pansy, Draco, and Blaise all asked "What the Hell just happened?"
