The POV of a prince
Tonight was the night of the ball my parents where forcing me to go to. I really didn't want to. I have no interest in marriage right now, but to them, it didn't matter what i wanted. It was all about what was right for our village and was was good for the family name. And as their only kid, I had to go to every bride ball my parents approved of so we could continue the family name.
I started to get ready when my mom burst in.
"Percy. You better make a good impression tonight. We can't afford them thinking the Caddel family are a bunch of crazy people."
"I know mother. can't risk people knowing what we actually act like, how you actually treat your child, not allowed to know your relationship if falling apa-" a loud slap echoed though the room.
"do not thank about me and your father in such ways! we treat you like any other family would treat a child! you're just spoiled brat!"
"I'm not spoiled! and constantly beating your son and putting him in situations where he could die just for the sake of having a strong king isn't normal parenting!"
Another smack. harder this time.
"as soon as you're back from the ball were going to have a serious talk with your father. maybe he can set you straight." with that she walked out.
I looked at myself in the mirror. I don't know why i was even listening to my mother. its not like this princess is going to like me anyways. there's going to be plenty of men better looking than me there to see her. i'm just another brick in the wall. nothing special. i'm basically an abomination to any royal family. no one wants me. none of the princesses I've meet before and certainly not my parents. I sighed and finished getting ready. i didn't want my mom to return and yell at me for taking to long.
As i walked down the stairs, i over heard my parents talking.
"do you really think he stands a chance getting a princess? he looks way to much like you. and youd still be single if it wasn't for my parents forcing me into this marrige."
"id watch what you say. you forget i'm the king and can have you exactitude faster than you could come up with a snarky remark."
"oh zip it with your empty threats. if you where gonna kill me you would have done it years ago. anyways, i'm going to the palace tavern. you make sure our child gets to that ball"
i heard her heels as she walked away and my father turned to look at where i was on the stairs.
"its not very polite to listen to adult conversations you know?"
I shrugged and followed him out the door to the carriage awaiting us.
