Percy's POV
I ordered some men to stay on the docks, waiting for My princess. Though I was sure she wouldn't be there when the ship docked. She was to smart for that. I'd be a fool to underestimate her. She may be a beauty, but that didn't mean she didn't have brains.
And the boy she's with isn't to be underestimated either. He was a stable boy after all. His strength could rival that of a royal guard. But he would have no strategy. He was never trained in combat. He'd never be able to stand his own against a sword. He'd fall quickly in close combat.
I order another small group of soldiers to the other side of the river while me and some of the others head to the other side. I'll surround this whole river if I need to. I just hope they don't beat us to wherever their safe heaven is.
I keep an eye out along the water as I walk along the line where the water meets the land, scanning for any sign of My Amori or the man that's taken her. But there was nothing. Nothing at all. Not a shadow on the water, not tracks in the sand. It was as if they vanished. but that wasn't possible.
Unless they had magic. But that had to be impossible. Max was a Stable boy. And Amori's family didn't have magic. At least that that I know of. All kingdoms that had magic had a formed alliance with each other. While there are only a few, we thought we knew about everyone. But maybe Amori's family has been keeping a well hidden secret. I'll have to inform my father of my suspicions.
I order my men to patrol the river and the surrounding area until further notice. I needed to get home and collect my thoughts and review my suspicions.
I walk into the throne room, my mother and father sitting on their respective thrones. Both their faces light up as they noticed me walk in. A scene I wasn't use to. They both had hated my existence a few weeks ago. It wasn't until I showed interest in Amori that they cared.
"Mother. Father. I'd like to speak with you in private please." I calmly state as I kneel in front of their thrones.
My father ushers the servants out of the room. "what is it you need to speak privately of, boy?"
"I have suspicions that the Oaksmaid family has magic. I have no physical evidence, yet. Its mainly just a feeling. I'll let you know if I gain any actual evidence."
"If what you feel is true, their family will be required to marry their daughter off to you in order to introduce magic back into the world. You'd have her all to yourself and she couldn't argue." My father had a smirk plastered across his face that could only be described has devious. My mother looked like a ghost, though she smiled anyways.
It was no secret that my father had trapped my mother the same way he was instructing me to catch Amori. She had never loved him. Neither of them really loved each other. But my father wanted strong children to carry on the family name. And my mother couldn't deny him. She wasn't given a choice. Growing up I never Understood why my Father would want someone that would never love him, and I swore to myself that I'd rather die alone than in a loveless marriage. But now that I've meet Amori, I understand. I'd rather have her in a one sided marriage than not have her at all. I needed her.
"you need to find out, Percy. And share this information with no one or they'll try to take her from you. Kill anyone that finds out and anyone that gets in your way. You have to get this girl, Percy. The future of this kingdom depends on it."
I nod and stand from my kneeling position. "I will, father. I'd rather die than live a life without her."
