Kenyon's POV

I saw it.

That twinkle in her eye that I loved when we first met. I wanted to be that glimmer of hope for her. 

I couldn't let her kill Kay! I wouldn't!

So what if Mary-Ann exposed me?   

It would all be worth it if Kay forgave me for what I had done.

I had her stuff in a bag, so I grabbed her hand and lead her to the door.

I turned to her. 

"Kay. Just know that whatever happens I'm here for you and I'm going to do everything in my power to right the wrongs I've done to you."

Tears welded up in her eyes and she nodded slowly.

We headed outside. The shed where Kay was kept was one of my uncle's and it was near a lake in a forest.

"Come on Kay, we have to hurry." I didn't have the heart to tell her that it was her best friend that was trying to kill her.

We ran through the forest, down the path to the car.

"We're almost there!" I said trying to put a bit of energy in her.

I saw the car. The car door opened however and the person that came out stopped me dead in my tracks.

Mary-Ann.

With a pistol in her hand.

Pointing it right at us

"MA..... don't do this."

"Why not! Look at you! Already under her spell!" She spat.

"Mary-Ann?" Katie said weakly from behind me. Her face in shock.

"Well, well, well if it isn't little Ms. Perfect." She said with a smirk.

"What has she ever done to you?!" I shouted.

"SHE TURNED EVERYONE AGAINST ME! My parents are always like 

"Why can't you be more like Katie? She is such a good child! Not a disrespectful piece of crap like you! She's so wonderful. She's so mannerly. WHY CAN'T YOU BE THAT WAY." they would say as they beat me to the ground."

"And don't even get me started on school. Every man wanted you and every girl wanted to be you."

"I was just referred to and Katie's friend. Sure you played coy but you know your nice routine was only to get friends and everyone loved it!"

Unaware to her Katie had taken out my phone from my back pocket and called the police and they were listening in.

Brilliant girl.

We were kinda hoping that they tracked us. So I tried to deescalate the situation and buy us some time.

"Mary-Ann..." I said taking steps toward her.

"DON'T MOVE!!"

"Mary-Ann listen to me, you are not gonna shot me. Your parents are just plain stupid if they can't see the potential in you. They are just abusers and they should be put behind bars for what they did. But none of that is Katie's fault."

"Stop lying! She is the reason they hate me! If I get rid of her they will stop hurting me!" She said tears rolling down her face.

"No they won't! They will just find someone else to compare you to and what then? Kill that person off too?" We were face to face the gun still pointing at me.

"Don't do something you will regret for the rest of your life." I reached out my hand to collect the gun, when we suddenly heard sirens in the distance.

"You called the cops! You sneaky little..." She said in a fit of rage.

'BANG'

Katie's POV

"YOU SHOT HIM!YOU SHOT HIM!!!!!!!" I screeched and run to his side, trying to apply pressure to the wound.

That's when the police arrived. One came up from behind Mary-Ann and restrained her.

"He deserved it! He's nothing but a child murderer!" She shouted at me as she was taken away.

I ignored her.

My only concern was him.

"Ken...Ken...look at me!" I said trying to keep him awake.

"Guess we'll never finish that game of Monopoly huh?" he chuckled weakly.

"You know I still would have kicked your butt." I teared up.

 He looked at me eyes barely open.  

"Is this enough?" he said faintly.

"Enough? Enough for what?"

"Did I do enough for you to forgive me?" he smiled and squeezed my hand.

"Of course you did! This is more than enough! I forgive you Kenyon."

"That's all I ever wanted."

His hand went limp.

Well...................... 

What an unpleasant turn of events. 

Can't we all jus get along! SMH
