Chapter Twenty Seven
Thunderstruck. Yes, that must be the perfect term to describe how my own words hit me. What the hell did I just say? And why the hell did I say that?
I can feel my heart beating rapidly like it's seeking for a way out. I turned to see Oxygen's reaction, he didn't say anything. He's just there, staring at me. I started to panic, anticipating for what he's about to say. Will he laugh? Will he get mad? Will he believe it? Or maybe he'll think it's ridiculous. Dear Lord, this is insane.
"Oh, forget it!" I exclaimed, climbing down the bed. I don't think I could be anywhere close to Oxygen at the moment, I swear my embarrassment will eat me up. "Pretend you didn't hear anything and just-"
I shrieked. Before my feet hit the ground, he's already at my elbow pulling me back up. "Not so fast,"
"Let me go!" I tried jerking off his hand but he's not letting me, instead he continued drawing me closer to him until I'm seated on his lap. "Get off me, Oxygen-"
"Look at me, Gabby." He moved his head to catch my eyes but I ducked mine. Much as I'd like to see his brows furrowing as I'm imagining it with the tone of his voice, still, I can't. I'm not gonna tilt my head and let him see the evidence of my embarrassment, I sure look awful right now. "Gabbana, tignan mo ko sabi."
"O-Oxygen, this is enough. We've had too much tonight, bukas nalang tayo ulit mag-usap." I tried to lift myself up away from him but he just pulled me down.
"Mukha mo bukas. Kung gusto mo pala na bukas na natin 'to pag-usapan edi sana bukas mo nalang din sinabi. Kasi putangina, Gabbana. Ano bang akala mo? Makakatulugan ko 'to? Hindi. Hindi 'to makakapag-antay ng bukas-"
I was forced to look at him and shot him a glare to shut him up. He's annoying me, I hate him. He has so much to say. Really. Like always. "Will you shut up!"
His expression softened, a pair of slate-blue eyes screams gentleness. "You love me..."
I do. I attempted to open my mouth and say something but no words came out, I shut it back. Shifting my eyes somewhere away from his.
"No, baby, just look at me." In a demanding tone, he whispered. Touching the side of my face with one hand, then his fingers trailed down to my chin just so he could tilt it. Now I was left with no choice but to meet his gaze, locking our eyes like magnet. "Mahal mo ko, Gabbana. Tangina, wala ng bawian 'yon. Period. No erase. Kain susi. Lunok."
I don't understand what he's saying but I've managed to nod. "I guess there's no point of denying it. I've already said it. Yes, Oxygen, I think I'm in love with you. Don't ask me why, don't ask me how. Because I don't know. Oxygen, I don't know. You're annoying, you're hilarious, you make me yell all the time, you drive me crazy and I love you. I love everything about you."
His eyes sparkled then his lips drawn back a little at the corners forming a smile, looking like he's enjoying what he's hearing.
"I love you in a way that's nauseating to others." I sighed, feeling the corners of my eyes beginning to water. I don't know why I'm becoming emotional over this, but damn, I am.
God, I love Oxygen. Do I really love him? I loved Ethan, never have I questioned that. Because Ethan is everything a woman should look for a man. Oxygen isn't, well not until you know him the way I do.
"I love you, too"
Now he loves me, too- wait. What?! I snapped a gaze at him and he's looking straight to my eyes. "W-What did you say?"
"Bingi-bingihan, baby?" He grinned. "Sabi ko, Gabgab... mahal din kita."
Mahal. Mahal niya ako? I shook my head. That can't be. Growing up, I have my parents to tell me how much I'm loved and cherished, then boys came, telling me they love me but I know they don't really mean it. They barely know me and sure as hell only love how beautiful they see me. "I don't believe you, Oxygen. I'm hard to love-"
"It's not that hard, Gabbana." He said in a pedantic tone before he shook his head. "It's way harder not to love you."
"B-but-"
"Makinig ka sakin," he urged me. His hand slid down to the side of my thigh, just so he could lock me on his lap. He inched his face forward, almost touching mine. "Whatever it is that made you think you're difficult to love, baby, that's not true. If only you could see yourself through my eyes, you'll know how easy it was to fall for your charm. I don't know so much about love, Gabby. I honestly don't. I have never felt it. But if this is what love is, then baby, I think I love loving you."
Oxygen loves me. I don't know why all the others before him makes it hard for me to believe, but Oxygen... I'm not sure, I like to believe him. His eyes speaks truth more than his lips does. Or maybe because, I love him, too.
Before I knew it, I'm already crying. I hugged his neck and surrendered my weight to him. Never in my wildest dream have I thought of loving a man like Oxygen, but here I am now.
"Baby, don't cry..." his hand started caressing my back and stroking my hair. I like it. But what I like more is the feel of his breath so heated hitting the side of my ears.
Without thinking further, I reached for his hand and guided it to my inner thigh. Then I buried my face on his neck. "T-touch me please... this is real, right? Make me feel it's real. You're real."
All he do is chuckle until I felt the ripping sound of my underwear. Oh, I don't care anymore how much underwear I'm about to lose through Oxygen's hands. If he likes ripping my underwear then so be it, I like him covering me down there though.
"Kiss me, Gabbana."
He doesn't have to ask twice, I'm more than willing. Cupping his face with both hands, I kissed him. On his lips. And it felt so good. So much better than it had been, now that this lips have told me he loves me. Oh God, I could get drunk with his kisses and I wouldn't mind.
I moved and repositioned to kiss him better. He held both sides of my waist and guided me to straddle over him. I moaned at the entry of his tongue in my mouth, even louder when I felt him hard under me.
Eyes closed, my fingers groped the back of his head as the kiss deepened.
"Baby, spread your legs further. I want to feel you come in my hand." He groaned, kissing my jaw, licking it slowly down to my neck and sucked me there.
I did what I was told, like an obedient student. He began stroking me down and I'm on fire. I started rocking above his lap with his clever hands wandering all over my body. God, this is heaven.
Boldly, my hand went down to feel his thing. It's steely. It needs attention. Oxygen started cursing when I took it off his boxers.
"Oxygen, I want it inside me..." I begged.
"Then put it in and drive me wild, Gabby..." he breathed. "It's your ride tonight, baby. Do whatever you want, just don't leave me hanging."
The next day, I woke up feeling heavy. Not the heavy I feel with Oxygen's leg wrapped into mine, no. My skull is pounding and I feel like hitting my head back to my pillow and sleep it over. But to hell with my stomach beginning to act grumpy.
Oh God, this feels like a severe hangover. Thing is. I wasn't drunk last night!
Even if I wanted to buy some more time for sleep, I knew I had to wake up. "Oxygen..."
"Hmm,"
He scooped me closer and nuzzled his face on my neck. I slapped his arm circling my waist, trying to wake him up. "Oxygen, wake up!"
He murmured something on my skin that I missed to understand.
"Oxygen, I'm serious." I stopped and groaned, a throbbing headache was developing beneath my temples. "Oh my God,"
That's when he realized I was serious. He loosened his grip on me and moved up to check me. "Baby, what's wrong?"
"My head is aching." I tried to get up too but he stopped me. "God, Oxygen I feel like dying."
"Don't move, okay? I'll get you some water and a capsule-"
"N-n-n-no!" I held onto his arm when he started leaving, no, I need him here, beside me.
"God, baby, you're scaring me."
I closed my eyes, fighting off nausea. Then my stomach crumbled again. This is weird. I'm feeling sick and hungry, both at the same time.
Oxygen just kept me warm in his arms for a moment, kissing the top of my head and asking me if I'm already okay from time to time. When my headache died, I told Oxygen how hungry I am. And that I could tear through brick walls with my bare hands to get to some bacon.
He first thought I was acting weird, I couldn't agree more, but still, he followed what I've asked him to do. He dressed decent and went out to get me something to eat. I wasn't following him, he'll send me food in here. I don't feel like going to places aside from the comfort of his bed.
Curled over with soft sheets wrapped around my body, I heard my phone ringing on the bedside table. I didn't move, I don't feel like answering it, I don't feel like speaking to someone. I'm just too tired to function, why I'm tired is something I couldn't explain. Maybe this is what I get for having too much sex. But would I want to stop having sex with Oxygen? Nah, I don't think so.
After a few ringing, it stopped. That's when Oxygen came in with a tray of breakfast in his hands. The smell of bacon made me beam. I pulled myself up when Oxygen sat on the edge of the bed, putting down the tray.
"Thank you," I smiled and watched him prepare it. "I can eat by myself, you know?"
"Sigurado ka ba na hindi na masakit ang ulo mo?" Hindi niya ako pinakinggan, instead he spooned a rice and bacon then he brought it to my mouth.
I took it before I shook my head as an answer, well magically, my headache is gone.
His eyes narrowed, he got a vertical wrinkle between his eyebrows and his lips pursed lightly. But he didn't say anything. Before I could ask him what's wrong, he spooned another and fed me.
He continued feeding me in silence and I like that, because I got more time to enjoy the food. I ate more relish than the breakfast warranted.
Oxygen seems oddly quiet. He carried the tray out and I waited for him to return, still not moving off the bed. I've decided to stay here all day and do nothing. Then I remembered Zach, I wonder if he's still here. But no, I wasn't asking Oxygen that.
"You feeling better now?" He asked once he's back.
"Hmm, yeah" I nodded. "What's that?"
He lifted the bottle he's holding. "Soda."
Muli akong tumango, inabot ko ang remote control at binuksan ang tv. Then Oxygen started asking about my plans for today. I don't know if it's just me or there's something weird about him since breakfast.
"I don't know, I don't feel like going out." I answered, scanning the channels.
Naupo siya sa kabilang gilid ng kama habang tinutungga ang bote na kaniyang hawak. A strange smell of something hit my nose and my stomach had an immediate response, I've dropped the remote and covered my mouth.
"God, what the hell is that?!" I shrieked, looking at the bottle in his hand, which I'm sure is the source of the funny smell. "A ginger ale?"
"Masarap 'to," he shrugged. "Gusto mo?"
He moved it to my side and that's it. My need to throw up became intense. I jumped off the bed and rushed to the bathroom, both of my hands went side by side on the sink as I bent down and throw my stomach out.
What's unusual is that I'm not throwing anything out! The sink is empty as it was. My heart is beating so fast, I couldn't move. I felt a movement behind me, I looked up to the mirror and saw Oxygen's reflection. Leaning at the door frame, studying me with both arms fastened across his chest.
Our eyes locked in a shared understanding. He nodded his head and I shook mine.
"N-no... I-I can't be..." I went voiceless, feeling so weak, I covered my face with both hands.
"We'll try and see, Gabby." He said, I heard him moving towards the hanging cabinets. "We can't be sure unless you try."
I turned and darted him a glare. "I'm not pregnant."
"Just because you say so?" He challenged. "Sige nga, Gabbana. When was the last time you've had your menstruation?"
When was it? I froze at his question and was mentally trying to remember if I had it recently or even after something happened between us. I couldn't collect proper details but no, I can't be pregnant.
"I've kept you monitored after our first night, we didn't use any protection. It happened again, a couple more times. At some instance we use some but not every time."
Niyuko ko ang inaabot niya sakin, I can't be pregnant. Not now. "Natatakot ako, Oxygen." Mahina kong pag-amin.
"Nandito ako," he sighed. "Gabgab, I already told you, I love you. I got you, always."
Oh, kung sana ganoon 'yon kadali. If only we don't have anyone else to consider. The world isn't just about me and Oxygen. Our relationship still hasn't made it to the world and now this, another thing that we need not to tell anyone, yet. "If I am positive, what will happen?"
"Edi wow." He raised his brows and smiled.
"How can you be so casual about this?" Inis kong sabi sakanya bago padabog na kinuha ang pregnancy kit sakanyang kamay.
"And what are you so agitated about? It's not like you're a teenager, Gabbana. We're not high school anymore. Hindi mo naman na kakailanganin ng mahabang caption sa profile picture mo sa facebook na mag-sisimula sa bago mo husgahan ang mga batang ina, kung sakali man na buntis ka nga." He grinned. "Baby kita, oo. Pero hindi ka na bata. Kaya sige na, baby. Wag ka ng matakot, iihi ka lang naman."
I rolled my eyes. Oh, hell yes! I'm just gonna pee. I'm just going to pee to know if I'm pregnant or not. And then after that, what will I do? I don't think I'm ready for this. But then, I should've thought about it before I've given myself to Oxygen. Now what?
"Labas."
"Dito lang ako, hindi kita iiwan-"
"Oxygen, gusto kong iwan mo ko. I have to do this alone." I sighed, started pushing him out the door.
But he held my both arms and drew me to his chest. "Nandito ako, Gabby. Kasama mo ko. Dalawa tayong bumuo, dalawa tayong aalam. Dalawa tayo sa lahat. I'm not leaving you, not now, not ever."
Maybe Oxygen's embrace does magic, I suddenly felt strong. I can feel it to his words and by the way he say it, that I can do this. That we can.
I stepped out from his arms and performed the things needed. I never thought that peeing could feel like a life and death situation, I did it once and I wasn't sure if I did it right. But no, I'm not gonna do it again. Whatever the result will be, this is it.
Oxygen opened his hand and asked me to put the pregnancy test in there, I did. He held it tight, grabbed me by the waist and hugged me from behind. He then started kissing the top of my head. Then we both stared at each other through our reflection on the mirror in front of us.
"I don't need this test, baby. I could tell just by how your cheeks glow and how you blossom like a rose, I've never been so sure in my life." He whispered. "I love you, Gabbana."
He then gave me the kit without looking at it, it's as if he's not interested at all. His eyes remained watching me by the mirror.
I swallowed all my fears and forced myself to look down, my heart is beating madly inside my chest.
"Oh God..." I bit my lower lip after seeing two solid red lines in there. "I-I'm pregnant..."
"I think we are." He pulled me closer to his arms and that's when tears started rolling down my cheeks. I don't why but my chest hurts. "I love you, Gabby."
"God, I'm pregnant!" I cried, turning around to hug him because I feel like losing my balance. "Oxygen..."
"Hmm,"
"L-let's not tell anyone until... until I figure out how to." I looked up to him, he's frowning. I could say that he doesn't like my idea before he could say anything, I pleaded. "Please? Let's just keep it a secret first, until mom's problem is over. It won't be that long, but please? My mom needs me and I couldn't break her heart more-"
"You think you'll break her heart with you being pregnant?" He growled.
"N-No..." I shook my head. "That's not what I mean. I don't have a boyfriend, it will shock the hell out of her if I'll come breaking the news that I'm pregnant. Not to mention, Zander will kill you. My family is going through so much, this can wait. Please, Oxygen? Please?"
He looked at me for a little while, as if trying to understand the words I'm saying, then he finally sighed. "Ok,"
