Chapter Forty Nine

As a kid I didn't really know what I wanted to be when I grew up. But I always knew how I wanted my wedding day to be like. It was every little girl's dream to walk down the aisle.

I want my wedding being held at a flower garden so that everyone can experience the beauty and pleasure that made me so obsessed with every petals. It's like the concept of marriage-like style in the garden. Every corner of my wedding day I want all decorated with beautiful flowers. Later on the dais that I want will be decorated with a mix of fresh flowers. I want to use colors that stand out like pink, cream and blue or turquoise. After that I will add more to the furry carpet decoration. Like a fluffy carpet and white. Parts of the table, I'll provide a table for the important people in my life, like family and friends. Crazy but I want it to be all about flowers.

Then of course, my wedding dress. I can still remember how I walked across the room wearing my white tutu matching it with mom's sexy shoes. I used to imagine that I'm walking my way to my wedding day and those were the giggling moments of my childhood.

"You really sure about this, honey?" Dad's voice woke me up from trance.

Just how I dreamed about it, I was in dad's arm. I looked around and see how my dream wedding came to life. All the flowers, decorations and even the artificial green grass covered by fluffy carpet just to achieve a garden wedding up into the terrace, closer to the stars. It's as perfect as I imagined it to be. Only that, I never thought I'd be walking down the aisle as thrice as heavy. I smiled at dad. "Have never been this sure in my life."

He shrugged and lead me into walking, every step takes me closer to the open gates of forever. My eyes were focused to the one standing on the other end, still looking astounded.

Oxygen is far from the man of my dreams. As a little girl I used to imagine marrying someone who will never argue with me, who will keep me warm regardless if he's feeling cold, who will tell me how much he loves me every time, who will kiss me tenderly, who will never make me angry or mad. But I wasn't a little girl anymore and my idea of love was so selfish then. What I have found for myself is the one who wrestles with me and let me win, the one who puts my cold hands in his warm hoodie pockets, the one who says I love you and means it, the one who kisses me in rain and sunshine of life, the one who understands that when I'm mad I say things but don't always mean them. And that's all it to me. It was Oxygen for me.

"You deserve love, now you're getting it."

"Dad, I'm happy." I whispered back.

"I know, I can see it through your eyes. You have no idea how hard it is for a father to let go of her princess because she already found herself a prince, but if this will make you happy then I'm all for it." He squeezed my hand rested on his arm. "I love you, Gabby. More than you'll ever know."

"I love you, too. But dad, trust that man. He will love me for the rest of our lives." My happy tears blocked my view, only a few steps I'll be in his arms and that will be the start of our eternity.

Before that, I looked around and see faces of people smiling at me and have made this night possible and perfect. Last week, I have told Romee and Titanium how much I wanna give back all the love Oxygen has given me. I have countless of ideas in my mind on how to surprise him but none of those seems unique. Then days ago, Romee told me about Oxygen's plan of surprising me for a decent proposal that he'd planned with Zander and all the other boys. That was their secret but since Zander swore to his girlfriend to never keep a secret ever again, it wasn't at all a secret to Romee and her idea is the 'unique' that I was looking for.

It was almost impossible for us to put up a wedding ceremony in short notice but I'm starting to think that girls in their clan have superpowers. With limited guests, it was as intimate as I ever wanted it to be.

Chanel on the front row standing beside mom and grandmamma, winked at me. I'm glad she made it. Made this night even more special that everyone close to my heart is present.

When we reached the edge, dad's hand tightened above mine. It's as if he's not about to let me go. I chuckled and slightly pulled him down because I'm too heavy to tiptoe. I kissed his cheek and told him it's time the princess be the queen of her own king. That's when he sighed and nodded, kissing the top of my head. Then he turned giving Oxygen a warning glare.

"Balato mo na sa'kin 'to, sir. Aalagaan ko, promise." He gave dad a boyish grin, I know dad will like him for me. Who wouldn't? If they see and realize how much Oxygen loves me, they might even throw me to him.

"You better be," dad shook his head finally surrendering my hand to my next man.

Oxygen took it and kissed the back of it, looking straight into my eyes. He placed it properly in his arm and guided me to the makeshift altar, with lost of flowers again, of course. I should really thank Audrey for it.

"Dami mong alam, pa-surprise wedding ka pang nalalaman 'dyan." He mumbled beside me, chuckling.

"Ikaw nga pa kunwari ka pang ditch mo ko sa checkup, para lang makapag-propose ka ulit ng mas better. It's so corny, kaya." Irap ko. "I've seen a lot of it na in movies. Your idea is not cute."

"Hmm, yabang nito. Ikaw na cute idea." Pinisil niya ang aking pisngi, agad kong tinapik ang kaniyang kamay at sinamaan siya ng tingin. Why am I marrying him again? "I love you, Gabgab."

Alright, it's because I love him.

The wedding ceremony was simple, solemn and intimate. When I was asked the most awaited question for the evening, I swear my feet and palms began sweating. My heart started thumping hard, breaking my ribcage. How will I answer it? Am I gonna stammer? Oh, I hope not.

"Do you, Gabbana Victoria Vladislav take Oxygen De Salvo to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do," was my quick response. I could've stopped there and made my answer short but where's the magic in that? Staring at Oxygen's eyes made me forget everything I've stored in my mind. But I know, I have to talk. "I hated you the first time I saw you, you were obnoxious and all the annoying things one could be. You're all that. You were far from the man I expected to be with in this stand." I turned sideways to see Ethan, sitting near the front row. I smiled at him, he did, too. I couldn't believe that the man I've imagined doing all this with is sitting there, watching me.

"Pst, sa'kin ka lang tumingin." Masungit na bulong ni Oxygen upang tawagin pabalik ang aking atensyon, mahina akong natawa.

"I swear, Oxygen. I still hate you until today and will probably hate you for the rest of our lives together. But you know? I can't stop loving you, no I don't wanna stop." I watched his expression softened, God he's the most handsome man ever lived. "The more I hate you, the more I love you. You scare the hell out of me and calms my soul at the same time. Maybe that's what love is. A total contradiction that somehow balances. This is crazy, when I was young I wanna be the most beautiful bride to walk down the aisle. Who wouldn't want that? But now, I just wanna be your bride. Forget about being beautiful and glamorous and all that stuff. Who cares if I'm a truck of a woman? I'm marrying the man I love and not everyone has the privilege to do that. God, I love you, I will spend the rest of my days with you."

I quickly slipped the ring on his finger, my tears continued falling. Racing down my face. Then it was his turn, my heart beats twice as fast. Anticipation covers me as I waited for his words.

"Do you, Oxygen De Salvo take Gabbana Victoria Vladislav to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"Hindi lang si Gabgab ko ang pinapakasalan ko ngayon, pati 'to," nakangising bumaba ang kamay niya sa aking tyan na pumapagitna sa amin. "Tatlo 'to, e." "Gulat ka father 'no? Ganun talaga pag in love na in love sa isa't isa."

I shook my head when he returned his eyes on me.

"Mahal kita, Gabby. Hindi pa ba halata kung gaano?" His voice sounds gentler as his thumb stared rubbing the back of my hand he's holding. "Hindi ako demanding na tao, e. Kung ano 'yung para sa akin, 'yun na. Pero ikaw, para sa'kin ka man o hindi, para sa'kin ka pa rin. Kapag hindi... Ano? Hindi pwede 'yun. Sa'kin ka, gagawin ko lahat para dito ka lang sa'kin."

I bit my lower lip to keep me from crying harder. Those were just simple words but hearing it from Oxygen it speaks volume.

"Sabi mo nga, you hate me. Hindi na bago 'yan, e." There's no bitterness nor pain in his eyes, he's even smiling. "I grew up having people hate me. I don't care, I'm always at my worst and I made sure everyone sees that. But with you, I wanna be someone else. Someone better, someone you deserve, someone you'd wanna be with. I can't. I can't change myself just so another person would like me, I will never do that. Then you love me, you love me for who I am. And that's heaven for me, I've said it a million times and I'm saying it again. You're my nirvana."

I watched him slowly slip the ring on my finger, my heart is slowly melting with it. When the priest announced that I'm officially Mrs. Oxygen De Salvo, his lips already sealed mine. And I swear, it was the best feeling ever.

"Gabby, I love you..."

"I love you, more. I love you..."

After the ceremony, there was a small party to celebrate our nuptial. Oxygen didn't let go of my hand and we've faced all the visitors together.

"You sure you're okay? Pwede na tayong umalis kung inaantok ka na." Bulong niya sa aking tabi bago halikan ang tuktok ng aking ulo. "Mrs. De Salvo,"

I smiled. I am Gabbana De Salvo now. I should start practicing a new signature. I tilted my head and smiled at him. "Love you,"

"Baby, 'wag ka naman masyadong cute. Lagot ka sa'kin nyan mamaya, tamo." Banta niya bago halikan ang tungki ng aking ilong.

"Nako, oo na. Sige na, mag-asawa na kayo. Napanuod namin 'di ba? Kailangan may recap?"

With our closest friends and family. Anja is sitting opposite to us, beside her is Audrey then Titanium and Derek. Derek smiled at me, I smiled back. I'm slowly taking in the idea of his presence in our lives, mom, too. Then there's my sister, Channel busy chatting with Romee who's sitting next to Zander, na siya namang kausap ni Ethan. Then my bestfriend Kurtney with her brother Kade. Zach left with Lance the moment the ceremony was done.

Our parents and some family friends are on the next table. So, yes. This is a good night.

"Kuya Ethan, may Brew Dog dyan si papa. Gusto mo?"

"Anja, he'll drive pa."

He doesn't look well, his eyes were on the mouth of his beer bottle.

"Bakit, kuya Ethan? Break na kayo ni Lance?" Audrey spilled the question I wanna ask but couldn't.

I saw Ethan stiffened at the mention of Lance's name.

"Sila ba?" Kurtney chuckled, then when she turned to Ethan, her eyes widened like she just realized what she'd been missing. It was obvious, Kurtney was missing out a lot. "Oh my God?"

Silence took over for a moment, no one dared to break it. Oxygen just let out a sigh and kissed the side of my head, embracing me more.

When Anja came back, she gave the beer to Ethan. We all watched him took a long swig of it, emptying it. Then he stood up, patting Oxygen's shoulder and leaving without a word.

"Baby, si Ethan? Makakapag-drive pa ba 'yun?" Nagaalalang binalingan ko si Oxygen.

He kissed my forehead again and smiled. "That's Ethan Montezor, a beer is just a beer."

"I hope he's okay," was all there is for me to say.

"He will be."

"Saan niyo balak mag-honeymoon?" Romee asked, trying to break the awkward atmosphere on our table. "Pero syempre, after mo na mag-give birth."

"We haven't planned it, yet." I answered. "Do you have a place to recommend?"

"I always give honeymoon trips to lovers getting married. I'm a fan of weddings. But since you still can't travel, maybe my gift can wait. Try Lanai, Hawaii. I swear, the place is beautiful. Or if you want Riviera Maya, Mexico. I haven't been there, yet. But that was my gift to my sister, Paris and her husband Aidan. I asked her to try and see if the place is wonderful then maybe one day I'd go there..."

Zander grinned. Geez, am I really seeing my brother this way?

"No," Romee frowned and shook her head, shifting her gaze back to Oxygen and I. Smiling. "I've always known, Oxygen will find his match."

Nakangising binalingan ako ni Oxygen, I pursed my lips and winked at him.

"Hala, 'wag kang masyadong pasarap." Pabulong niyang banta. "Baka madagdagan 'yang trio mamaya."

Pinanlakihan ko siya ng mga mata lalo naman siyang ngumisi.

"Ganda talaga, baby ko 'yan, e."

My cheeks flushed, I forced a frown and bit my bottom lip. I shook my head. "No, Oxygen. I'm not kilig."
