RIP to a dead idol
Utterly speechless
As you no longer have the gift of speech,
The breath of life,
The life of this earth.
You were an idol to me,
Someone who showed me how to care about what I'd leave behind
If I left this world
As you have now chosen to do
Tell me, what possessed you
To leave your fans behind?
Why'd you have to go this way?
Hanging off the edge of life
A rope to burn your past pain
And end all the strain
Only to pass it on to dreamers like me...
I looked up to you from a young age...
Learned to numb myself of the pain of others
telling me to become something I'm not,
telling me how to live out my future.
Learned that I did have somewhere I belong.
You taught me to erase the bad mistakes of the past after I learn from them,
to let go of what I've done.
You taught me that sometimes solutions are not as simple as they seem and that I must do
what's best for me even if it will hurt or be hard to make the choice, the shadow of the day.
Your songs meant so much to me
They were a part of who I was,
That one edgy teen who listens to Linkin park
But you were more than just a part of the band to me.
You passed as your friend passed,
Perhaps you longed for him just as we all long to hear one more note from
your amazing voice...
You wanted us to leave out all the rest,
To forget the wrongs that you've done.
But you didn't need our help to leave behind some reasons to be missed...
You held on so long for us,
Your fans stayed heavy,
We tried to keep you anchored
But all you wanted was to fly
And that wish was sorrowfully granted
On the day you died...
We will all miss you.
I will miss you
R.I.P Chester bennington...
