II Microphone x Violinist!Reader (Harmony)

The faint sounds of plucking filled silent area around me. It had been weeks since I had been in this strange world, thankfully undetected by the residents.

First landing here, I hoped I would find someone to help me get back home, but all I found was a dangerous battle. A giant spaceship shaped like an egg was in the sky.

Several objects were working on something, talking frantically to each other. It seemed like a bad time to introduce myself, so I didn't. I just hid away, hoping none of them would find me.

I mean, the objects were sentient after all. That was scary enough on its own. And that phone seemed the scariest, being able to bring shattered objects back from the dead!

So it was a better idea to just hide and hope one day I'd get back home. Thankfully, I still had my violin with me. So I definitely wouldn't be bored.

I already knew a bunch of songs before hand, so I wouldn't run out. However, my violin needed tuning often. Since I had been playing more often.

Cutting back to my current thoughts, I smiled, knowing my violin had been perfectly tuned now. Of course, I still needed to test it. So, I started to play one of my favorite songs.

Honestly, I shouldn't have picked a song so difficult, but it was my method, so it was my decision to play a difficult song to test the tuning!

Of course, there's no way I'd sing the vocals, I didn't like my singing voice that much. I was fine just doing a instrumental cover, however.

Gliding my bow across the strings at a quick pace, I zoned out, imagining the lyrics in my head. Subconsciously, I smiled. I bobbed my head side to side, feeling calm.

"Touch tone, touch tone telephone!" The lyrics appeared in my head. "I'm the only one. On your AM, AM radio!" The next set came, doing the full line.

Although, the voice singing them didn't exactly sound like Lemon Demon. I brushed it off, mostly because I was too zoned out to notice someone there.

"Oh...I'm crying now." The next line came, and I couldn't resist finishing it. It wouldn't hurt to sing one line, right? I could always scold myself about singing it wrong later.

"Authentic tears..." I mumbled, smiling. Deciding to stop there, I put down my bow, sighing slightly. "They flow out of me when I think about you!" The other part of the line came, shocking me.

I froze. That wasn't in my head. Slowly turning to look behind me, spotting another one of those sentient objects. She was a living, breathing microphone.

Feeling my body tense, I clutched my violin. "Cause you're the only person in the world who understands!" She sang, eyes closed, and a huge smile on her face.

She seemed to be in the same zone. To save her the embarrassment, I cleared my throat, causing her to open her eyes. She looked at me, then blushed.

"Oh gosh! I-I didn't mean to interrupt anything!" She waved her hands in defense. I pulled my knees to my chest, resting my head on them.

"You didn't interrupt anything, I was just testing my violin. I just tuned it." I told her. The Microphone sighed in relief, laughing slightly. "Oh..."

A heavy silence weighed down on the both of us. She rubbed her head sheepishly. "So... You like Lemon Demon?" I nodded. "Yeah, ever since I found (first song)."

The wind wooshed past us. "It was kinda my introduction to his music." Microphone nodded. "Yeah, that's one of my favorite songs!" She laughed.

I smiled and her, and she flushed red again. She looked away, tapping her fingers together. "S-So, you play violin?" She asked. I nodded, picking the instrument up.

Gently hugging it, I felt excited. "Yeah! I've known how to play one since I was a kid!" I waved a hand. "Violins are one of the best string instruments, I'm not even joking."

There I went again, about to ramble why violins were superior to all strings to a complete stranger. "Like, guitars are nice, but generic. Ukuleles, cute! But generic too."

I smirked, pointing a finger in the air. "Now bass! Bass could rival the violin, elegant, but violent. The sound, deep and rumbly!" My hand fell to my side.

"Of course, they do not play the same at all, but the sounds contrast so much, you can see why I consider them rivals." My rant coming to an end, I paused.

I probably sounded crazy. My face flushing in embarrassment, I looked away. "And I got carried away...again." I mumbled, but the Microphone could hear.

"No, no! I found it pretty interesting!" She told me, kneeling down to face me. "It's like two distinctively different personalities are clashing with one another, right?"

I looked at her, face still red. "I-In a way." I smiled. "Like hot verses cold, or sour verses sweet." I added on. She nodded, getting excited.

"But they almost compliment each other!" I put my violin down, setting on my knees. "Yeah! Like dark and light!" The Microphone chimed in.

"Exactly! Kinda like how Yin and Yang keep each other balanced!" I looked to the side. "Right! ...Who are they?" The Microphone chuckled .

"Oh, right." She outstretched her hand. "I'm Microphone! Nice to meet you." I took her hand. "(Y/n)." She smiled, before remembering. "Oh! Yin and Yang!"

She smiled sheepishly. "It's a long story, why don't you come back to the hotel with me?" I winced slightly. "Eh...Is my kind even welcome there?"

Microphone waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry! With all the odd characters running around, OJ would probably be thrilled to have another sane person in the hotel."

She chuckled. "One resident has been blowing up her room on the regular with her experiments." I chuckled. "Sounds like a handful."

I agreed to go with her. We walked for a while, mostly silent, before she eventually spoke up. "You know." She started. "With such distinctively different tunes, they could work together."

I looked up at her. "Oh? What do you mean, like a harmony?" Microphone smiled. "Yeah! Like a harmony..." She blushes slightly after saying that.

"Their different sounds could bring out the best in each other, you know?" She explained. "Kinda like how a shy friend brings out the caring side of her extroverted friend."

I nodded in reply, adding on something of my own. "Or how a extroverted friend brings out the fun side of their shy friend." Microphone smiled even more, her blush growing.

Something started to click. "Microphone... are you saying what I think you're saying?" Her smile cracks slightly, as her face becomes completely red.

"Wait- I don't think I've thought this through-" She nervously started to say. "Do you think...we could be a great harmony?" Sparks suddenly flew out of her neck, surprising me.

"O-Oh- W-Well...m-maybe..." I smiled, looking at the ground, a small blush rising to my cheeks. "I'd like that." Microphone goes silent.

I looked back up at her, she was staring at me with a surprised expression. She slowly started to smile. "R-Really?" I nod, closing my eyes.

Microphone let's out a slightly laugh, a blush rising again. "Yeah...me too..." She spots the hotel. "Oh! We're here!" She gently grabbed my hand, walking in the direction of the big, orange building.

When we step inside, she doesn't bother going to the front desk. Instead, she brings me to her room. "I-I don't really have a roommate...so..." She sheepishly smiles at me.

I nodded in understanding. We enter the room together, still holding hands.

A Month Later

"Hey (Y/n)! When did you say the next concert was?" Fan asked, carrying his laptop. "I have to let the fans know when the livestream will be available."

"Well, Microphone and I haven't really decided yet...but it might be this December." I tell him, as he started to type away. He nodded. "Mhm. Mhm. Got it."

He looked up from his computer sheepishly. "Thanks, (Y/n)." I smiled at him, putting a hand on my hip. "No prob, bob." I walked away, heading to our room.

Microphone was nowhere to be seen, however. I figured she must have been setting up the sound system, until I feel a head rest on mine.

I look straight up, seeing my the top of my girlfriend's head. She snuggled into my hair,  hugging me from behind. "Why is setting up a concert so difficult?" She speaks, voice slightly muffled by my hair.

I laughed, placing my hands on hers. "We can still call it off if you want." Her head shoots up. "No! No way!" I smile, turning around to face her.

"Then how about we swap jobs for a bit? I'll handle the sound system, while you take on the dreaded...PR!" I faked a gasp, grabbing my face. Then added a: "dun dun duuuuun!"

Microphone laughed, blushing. "Okay, fine! But try not to get hurt." I rolled my eyes. "Please, don't worry Mic. I've handled worse things before."

I wrapped my arms around her, standing on the tips of my toes to reach her face. Giving her a light peck on the lips, we decided to relax t  a few minutes, before getting back to work.

I was glad I had never truly left this place.

————————————————————————

A bit of a confession: I've never played an instrument before, but I have been told I could be great at violin.

Plus, who wouldn't want to play one? They sound so cool! But I hope I was at least somewhat accurate-

It's also my first time writing Microphone, I hope I did okay-
